jj69
Hello all, I just wanted to report a succesfull install. Mobo : EP45-DS3 Gfx card : 9500 GT I had a bit of trouble with the audio part (had to patch the DSDT.dsl file manually) but it's now OK. GFX patch is included into the DSDT.aml. Both integrated network interface work at 1000Mb/s. Some strange behaviours with Bonjour (not sure if it comes from the NAS or from the Hack) even though I applied the AppleScript solution described in this thread. No more audio glitches : I changed iMac8,1 to MacPro1,1 in smb kext System Info doesn't report QE/CI/CL, although all seems to be activated. I might have some work left on NVCAP because the one I extracted from the gfx card rom makes the system believe my DVI connected 24" lcd is a HDTV and my VGA connected HDTV is a VGA monitor (restraining resolution to 1280x768 instead of 1360x768) I'll also have to investigate PATA support. Everything considered, its quite a neat system. Thanks again for this great howto. woodbox
Hi All, I very successfully installed SL on My Gigabyte EP35-DS3R using this guide and the install is rock solid. Everything works fine except for the automatic sleep although I can successfully switch to sleep manually. Did anyone already succeed in going to sleep automatically A strange effect that I also observe it that: my usb keyboard seems to be still supplied by the usb port when I shutdown my PC with SL. What I can observe it that the 'numlock' diode switches on each time I press any of the keyboard key and then switches off right after. If I power down the PC using windows, I don't observe that behaviour? Any clue to explain this? Thanks to all for your great help ! If I power down the PC using windows, I don't observe that behaviour? I have that when shutdowning from windows too. It is normal behavior of newer boards. I can't tell if it does to me when shutting down from SL since I have apple keyboard now and that one does not have any diodes. And I don't know about automatic sleep, because I never left my kitty for such long time but I will try at home and tell you. EnzoFX
I also don't have sleep on idle working, in 10.5.8 but that prob won't change in 10.6 Have you looked at this: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=171929 Hi All, I very successfully installed SL on My Gigabyte EP35-DS3R using this guide and the install is rock solid. titan4
I tested it and autosleep does not work for me as well. I looked in a thread EnzoFX posted and I have Samsung DVD-Drive so maybe that is the issue for me. If I add the SMUUID to the shared SMBIOS.plist that will be used by both 10.5 and 10.6 via cham2 RC3, would it affect Leopard? Hoping it won't. If you will use fakesmc with 10.5 i guess it will. But I don't think that can cause any issues. Professor
Hey :-) I have already reported that I had success with Blockosxs install method and DSDT guide The only thing remaining is shutdown/restart. I have of course OpenHaltRestart.kext installed, but it seems to have no influence on the shutdown/restart behavior. I still have to restart shutdown manually. Is there something I missed? justmetoo
Up and running 10.6.1, except for sleep. The Cham update I posted earlier I fixed by using a terminal command to unhide all hidden files then I simply dragged the Chameleon boot file to trash and installed Blackosx's install package boot file. Works great! The reason for the error was indeed a different file name for Chameleon. My file is named "Chameleon", thanks to all who correctly pointed out the reason I couldn't get RC3 Boot to load. snifferpro
Snow Leopard installed and appears to be working correctly. However, I get the following errors at boot with Chameleon See attached image. Also, I'm getting other errors which can briefly be seen if I boot in verbose mode. Is there a way to print a log file of the errors encountered during Snow Leopard startup? EnzoFX
Just installed 10.6 on a separate drive via the usb method. Everything is working so far... I haven't installed Chameleon 2 rc3 on this drive, used the usb drive for a couple reboots, but so far tested sleep, sleep on idle, it all works. Just applied your Bonjour fix. Is the RT1000.kext working in Snow? Why go with the method listed in the guide? Is it overall better? The animations are smoother, but one! The one where you click on an app on the dock, which is in another space, the animation shows the window sliding from one side, so to move to that space, but the window movement is pretty laggy, any one else experience this? Also, is the AppleUserClient/whatever kext no longer causing lag? I think I've noticed an odd jump every now and then, and it bothers me haha What about a disabler to disable that in Snow too? Edit: Got the modified SleepEnabler.kext from Snow (from infinitemac), that also disabler that damn appleupstreamuserclient kext. TEPP
Hi all, Sorry English is not my native language. I have installed SL successfully with this Blackosx's Guide by CD Boot, Sleep/Restart/Shutdown everything is work very well like a Rock Solid with my own DSDT.aml that was done by this guide also. And now being I try to install 10.5.8 again with a little different on separate harddisk even I have done as the other guide but without use DSDT.aml so now my objective is using KEXT file as least as possible and also reason why I go back to 10.5.8 I want to improve my DSDT.aml on there, everything go well only something as following: My Question: 1.Installing Chameleon, Update the Chameleon 2 RC2(640) to RC3(658) after install with cham 2 RC2 and then I go on with Terminal: My installation is on /dev/disk0s2 named "MacOSX-L" method 1 cd /Volumes/i386 (by drag) sudo fdisk -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk0 sudo dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s2 sudo cp boot / Method 2 cd (then a space) then drag the ‘Chameleon RC3 boot file’ folder to the Terminal cp -f boot /Volumes/MacOSX-L/ Note: there is a space after boot and before the / I did both method I still not did know what I have to do but It can boot and I observe it was shown on top of monitor at the left side hand while booting "RC 658". Ok, When I install 10.6 as Blackosx's guide I used method 2 to patron name "Cham" as his instruction. But now my Installation 10.5.8 on only 1 harddisk (disk0s2). What should I do along method 1 or 2? 2. After I installed chameleon rc3, why the "boot" file was shown in "MacOSX-L" folder here I attached it. Something wrong or not? Thank you very much for any reply. sickofit
hi. your guide worked out for me with snow. but i've got cmos reset and cant fix it. this is how my dsdt looked like: Device (RTC) { Name (_HID, EisaId ("PNP0B00")) Name (ATT0, ResourceTemplate () { IO (Decode16, 0x0070, // Range Minimum 0x0070, // Range Maximum 0x00, // Alignment 0x04, // Length ) }) Name (ATT1, ResourceTemplate () { IO (Decode16, 0x0070, // Range Minimum 0x0070, // Range Maximum 0x00, // Alignment 0x04, // Length ) }) Method (_CRS, 0, NotSerialized) { If (LGreaterEqual (OSFX, 0x03)) { If (HPTF) { Return (ATT1) } Else { Return (ATT0) } } Else { Return (ATT0) } } } and i changed it to: Device (RTC) { Name (_HID, EisaId ("PNP0B00")) Name (ATT0, ResourceTemplate () { IO (Decode16, 0x0070, // Range Minimum 0x0070, // Range Maximum 0x00, // Alignment 0x02, // Length ) }) Name (ATT1, ResourceTemplate () { IO (Decode16, 0x0070, // Range Minimum 0x0070, // Range Maximum 0x00, // Alignment 0x02, // Length ) }) Method (_CRS, 0, NotSerialized) { If (LGreaterEqual (OSFX, 0x03)) { If (HPTF) { Return (ATT1) } Else { Return (ATT0) } } Else { Return (ATT0) } } } it seems different from this in your guide. but i thought my changings would work out. it doesnt. i hope you can give me some good advice. titan4
it seems different from this in your guide. but i thought my changings would work out. it doesnt. i hope you can give me some good advice. Try changing only the first value. You are not supposed to change the second one. Ok. I found an OpenHaltRestart.kext-version (1.0.3) which is "for snow 64". This version in fact did load and is listed in kextstat. But - restart/shutdown still won't work :-( Update: I tested this, and it turns out, that shutdown/restart is in fact working, but it takes some time until the machine gets fully shutdown/restarted. I would say about 20 secs or something. Which is quite long. That's strange. My install restarts/shutdowns in a matter of seconds. I am using OpenHaltRestart from blackosx's support files and it is compatible with 64-bit. As for all of you trying to have both L and SL installed. What I think is it is generally better to have seperate bootloader for each system. I know that there are folders in Cham RC3 to have different kexts for each version, but I don't know how they work and neither me or blackosx don't know (because of lack of research) how to make them work, so if somebody manages to make it work just tell the others. In that case it won't be problem to have both versions on one HDD.
