tanbk168
Did you read the guide? as you want to be adding arch=i386 to the com.apple.Boot.plist in /Extra. By only using /Extra for your fixes, if you ever want to re-install Snow Leopard, you'll know it will just simply work. Yes, I have added in the com.apple.Boot.plist in /Extra of Cham... but did not work... I have to amend the one in the other...

I have to amend the one in the other... It didn't work? it's worked for everyone else here.. Never mind, as long as you have got it working then that's the main thing. valdanta68
I don't think you will need to change anything. Xbench is very old now, so I wouldn't use it these days. EDIT: You will want to update your SMBIOS to reflect the speed change. Just used the 64-bit version of Geekbench and got a 4972! Sure seems zippy. eobiont
@eobiont Here is the JMicronATA.kext you'll need for 32/64bit. HERE Please post back if this works for you. Thanks Thank you for the link. I've downloaded it and I am testing.
smilenkovski
Hi Blackosx. Just to report (again) several days later, everything is OK with my Snow Leopard. Except my Wifi usb Edimax, Ralink rt2870 based chipset, works only in 32 bit SL. I'm not sure is it driver based or due to lack of 64 bit pref pane. Thanks again on your excellent guide. rednous
hi to all, blackosx, hi again, i would like to share my additional experience with all of you after successful 10.6 retail installation: 1. Updated to 10.6.1 flawlessly :-) 2. My EHCI ports (Hi Speed USBs) were reported external so i additionaly patched my DSDT according stellarola's guide on his blog --> now my EHCis are reported internal, so no more errors like they would be ejected accros sleep :-) 3. Following the link (see the blackosx post back in this thread) explaining where and how to patch DSDT for fixing external SATA to Intel ESB2 AHCI (internal SATA and removing the IOAHCIPortInjector.kext from Chameleon's extensions) i succeeded. So my SATAs are internal native, no more IOAHCIPortInjector.kext! and a little reminder from me: always do a backup of your DSDT.aml (dsl) so you can get back if something got f_cked :-) there's a very interesting news on netkas blog --> FakeSMC v2, i installed it and its working great for now, reported SMC version 1.30f3. something for the 64bit madness, let's call it like that : im an adobe user, so i tryed to install CS4 (32bit) in 64bit mode --> installer started and quit immidiately. a friend of mine who's for long years a real MacPro user told me that 64bit is great if you have 32 or more GB of RAM. 10.5 could address max 16GB of RAM. So running 10.6 in 32bit is great and it wont be a problem unless you have more than 32MB RAM.
Donar
I have done as Lintendo said, and that was to add the code before Device (PRIM).. So here's mine with the FAS0, FAS1 and bracket from Device (IDE1) section then new code (in bold) before Device (PRIM) Many thanks, i mixed something up before... i've done the patch now removed IOAHCIPortInjector.kext restarted ignoring kextchache - SATA connectors are still -internal-

Carl_XII
I have now installed Snow Leopard on a GA EP45-DS3 Rev 1 board using this eminent guide (e8400, 2GB RAM, 1TB HDD, nVidia 8800 GT 512 MB). The graphics card is however not recognized properly so I will try another dsdt.aml (adding PEGP although it was not present). By the way I have managed to get my wireless Netgear WG311 to work also using the Realtek RTL8187B driver. Thanks for your work on this guide and the DSDT guide too! Edited: Bios F7. Graphics works fine using PEGP and sound too after changing the LegacyHDA kext in the package. Edit2: Installed on another GA EP45-DS3 Rev 1 Bios F7 with nVidia 9600GT using generic nVidia 512 MB and PEGP in DSDT. Worked fine!

Yes, it has been mentioned by many people including me that in most cases you need to enable PEGP even when you don't see it in IORegistryExplorer. So go and do it and enjoy your new Kitty

patrick0525
Have a look at Jingu's post Solved my SL install USB stick KP issue on a non-AHCI MOBO. Used the following linK: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...00#entry1189943 Followed your instructions. It works great with the following modifications: 1. Copied(recursive) the above 10.5.8 IOATAFamily.kext to System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext 2. Removed /Extra/Extensions.mkext and added other *.kext files from my 10.5.8 Leopard 3. Removed /Extensions/Disabler.kext 4. Used Chameleon v2 RC3 r658 boot file instead of Chameleon v2 RC2 r640 5. Did a Permissions Repair 6. At Chameleon prompt selected Install (USB stick) and used -v -x -f. 7. Everything boot-up for SL installation 8. Installed SL and re-booted 9. At Chameleon prompt selected Snow (Install SL partition name) and used -v -x -f. 10. SL booted-up for configuration. Did I do anything incorrectly Thanks again. Edit Hardware: Abit I-45 CV no AHCI in BIOS Video: Nvidia 7200 GS with 128 MB Installed :10.5.8 Leopard on a IDE HD Later Installed 10.6 SL on SATA HD with two partitions Cham and Snow SATA Hardrive on SATA1 DVD Drive on SATA2 Memory: 4GB
blackosx
Did I do anything incorrectly If it worked for you then you must have done everything right. uketernity
Sounds like the same problem I'm having, it's caused by having an IDE dvd drive and not a SATA drive. You'll need a SATA dvd drive, I think newegg has one for less than $20.00. Hey, Is that right? The only way to boot a preboot cd is to use a sata dvd drive? My boot cd's for leopard worked off my ide drive. I only just bought it a couple of months ago so im loathed to ditch it. Oli
Lintendo
WOW !! I just tried that and it works ! I can't believe something that simple (and unrelated) can fix it...Thanks a lot Lintendo ! Mangotrance
Does it work with EP-45-DS3P Also?
titan4
Does it work with EP-45-DS3P Also? In general yes. But please note that there are some differences between DS3L and DS3P like audio controller (889 instead of 888 on DS3P), so there will be differences for you most of all in DSDT making process. Go on and try it. And when you will wait for your new Kitty to install, check older post in this thread. I am sure there was somebody with your board here Have fun ! Offtopic: I actually smiled for the first time this weekend when learning that strange language Mac programmers use. I am starting to understand it actually And 11h47m uptime so far for today without single glitch. Nice kitty

doradekell
WOO HOO ! Got Sleep working on my machine and I do have a TSST DVD drive that others had issues with sleep. I used the tips here for the DSDT SATA fix and here for the USB/EHCI DSDT fix. I can now put the "kitty" to bed and wake her up with either the keyboard or the mouse. I happen to be using a Logitec MX5000 combo with blue tooth dongle. Thanks again to everyone here posting their successes and failures, It helps all of us in the end! Thanks once again to blackosx for his guide as well as his patience and hard work in updating this guide!! I have attached a copy of my DSDT for others with similar board like mine. titan4
Well done doradekell. I can tell you're happy Not as much as I was yesterday. I started jumping around room and making kitty sleep and wake up like 20 times in a row She was finally complete And I have some feeling that SATA fix mentioned even increased overall stability.
