@The Alchemist

Well done for sorting your PS/2 and Spotlight issues. Have try tried the ifconfig bonjour fix?

If you boot from the BootCD or a USB bootdrive, then you can re-install Snow Leopard over the top of your current install.

As for the boot stalling, this is just a guess but maybe try removing your SMBIOS.plist and see what happens?

blackosx: Yes and still I find myself repeating same mistakes like using old SleepEnabler.kext which cause KP on boot :-)

It's especially confusing at the moment with the transitition to Snow Leopard. Once we all forget about 10.5 and move on to 10.6 completely, then things should smooth out.

EDIT: Yes, that's a battle I fought with my 10.5.7 build, trying to get everything working from /E/E.. Some kexts will just not comply!

Hi guys,

I just reinstalled my fresh SL parition last night. DId a restore of my user files (around 390Go) without problems from my Time Machine backup.

Now I've a question, I kept my original Cham + SnowLeo partitions on a separate drive so that I can test things before I applied them on the system I use.

Do you know how I could automatically dismount these partitions so that they wouldn't appear on my clean system ?

Hi All,

Has anyone had an issue that their sound was working fine, and for no apparrent reason its just stopped being detected by SL? Ive patched via DSDT and using the LegacyHDA.kext from the "How to patch DSDT with LAN and HDEF functions including LegacyHDA" guide for ALC899a 3outs2ins and it was working fine, but now for some reason its just stopped.

Im booting via EFI partition with cham rc3

Hey blackosx,

is there maybe a guide on how to customize the boot cd? Can you give me a link?

I tried to make my own dmg image and burn it with disk utility, but that didn't work.

I wanted to reinstall SL because of some stability issues but I can't use your boot cd, I get a kernel panic when booting the SL DVD and also a CMOS reset...

Thank you :)

Hi Lintendo

Trauma has made a BootCDMaker over at the voodooprojects forum. I haven't used it with for my BootCD's but give it a go, it might help you?

h t t p://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,727.0.html

@Hetman - I supplied a SMBIOS.plist to get you started, but it's worth spending a little time amending it to match your system.

Your SMBIOS reads....

<key>SMmaximalclock</key>

<string>2666</string>

Therefore 2.66Ghz - Try changing it to match what you need.

I know this thread has grown large, but try reading through it as it does contain what you need to change your processor from reading 'unknown' to whatever you want, for instance 'Intel core 2 Quad'.... Search for post #431

Nope!.. you must have changed something?

BlackOSX,

I can report that I have installed dual boot Snow (re-installed using BootCD) and Win7 on the same drive. I installed Chameleon 2 RC3 on EFI partition. I followed your dual boot guide in conjunction with your Snow kitty install guide. The system seems to be fairly stable in Snow and Win7.

Thanks for all of your hard work!

Brilliant news - Well done and thanks for reporting :(

Can you post this on my Dual boot thread too? as StanleyD was only asking this the other day and I told him I hadn't had time to try it, but I saw no reason why it wouldn't work.

Thanks undo_undo

Oh boy. I've been following your guide., but I can't get the BootCD to boot. Right now it's hanging on "Verifying DMI Pool Data..." Anyone have any ideas?

Oops. OK that was not setting the boot device properly. Now that I do select CD, it does tries to access it, but fails and it just reboots again. :-(

i keep seeing people mention the dsdt fix for getting all USB buses to show up as built in, but i am having a tough time finding much information on the topic in this tread.

is there a thread that someone could link me to that goes into greater detail regarding this issue?

my hi-speed usb buses show up as expansion slots right now and i would like to get them all to show up as built in.

thanks for the help!

Hi robotfactory - Yes, look at the Tips section of my DSDT thread. It links to ApexDE's thread where you can find all the info you need. :censored2:

In not being able to boot the bootCD, I noticed my CD-rom drive is IDE. Could this be the problem? Do I require a SATA DVD drive to boot the CD????

Hi valdanta68, yes - Front page of this thread reads....

Requirements

• for 64-bit you need a CPU with SSE3. So all core 2 duos, quads & extremes.

• You must be using SATA HD's and Optical drive and make sure BIOS SATA AHCI mode is set to AHCI.

• A purchased Retail Mac OS X install DVD (not the restore DVD you get with Apple hardware).

as always, you are the man. thanks blackosx.

also, just to follow up with an issue i have been having...

10.6 is running 100% stable in 32-bit, no KPs whatsoever. Wifi card works out of the box.

the issue i was having with my Wifi card in 64-bit apparently is not an isolated issue. from my research it appears that there is almost no one having success with Wifi pci cards and 64-bit 10.6. i am hoping this issue will be resolved over the next few months, but if not, 32-bit works just fine for me.

thought this information might help some frustrated Wifi card users.

Ahhhh, this probably explains my issues as well. Boot disk would display a black screen and then reboot. I thought my dvd was sata but this made me check it again and it is in fact IDE. Now, it works fine in leopard, does this mean I'll need to get a sata dvd or if I use another method to install like usb will my ide dvd drive work once I have sl installed?

Cool... Did you get everything on the notebook working?

Except Wifi and BT. For Wifi I will try compile beta drivers there and for BT I will search tomorrow, but i had BT running on 10.5 so I guess it won't be a problem. I am forced to use 32-bit mode since I use native Intel X3100 kext and it is only 32-bit. I guess old macbooks with X3100 are not 64-bit compatible.
