First, I'd like to thank everyone on this forum and other forums (infinitemac.com, thinkpads.com, msiwind.net) for their efforts. Without whom, I wouldn't have reached this far.
My Thinkpad is 15" T61 with Intel GMAX3100 video(1680x1050). This guide will also apply if you have a 14" T61 with Intel GMAX3100.

I read your tutorial and I have the T61 native 1280x800 laptop. I have iPC on it dual booting with XP and the new Chameleon using my old HD but I just recently bought bigger drive cause Xp starting to act funny (its my for work laptop and need it to stay up) and I can't resize the Mac partition thus not being able to install a whole lot in Mac. Anyways, when I installed I had to use a USB mouse and keyboard to get through install then install keyboard and mouse files later which allowed the trackball to work. (I disable my touchpad cause to me it is more of a pain to use and gets in way when I rest my hands on laptop.) I did get QI/CE to enable and the screensavers did work but most games would not run right. Kept getting video that ran with a light purple-ish color. totally messed up video when games were loaded.
Also wireless did not not work so I bought a USB N stick by Rosewill to get wireless back. Still worth it since the laptop only has up to G anyways. I'm going to try your way on the new install/ new HD. not going with XP this time (Windows 7) so ghosting the old drive not an option.
Anyways, I figured I'd let you know for the learning purpose and to see if you had any feedback. gonna try it your way to see how far to goes this time and I'll post my results...

Kanedo,

Thank you very much for your step by step guide now i have a working T61 with GMAX3100 1280x800 quartz enabled running on Leo 10.5.8 dual with win7.

The only difference is that when I installed the (iPC 10.5.6 Universal Final) I did not do the backup/move operation

of the AppleIntelGMAX*.* and AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext and when the system is loaded i was surprised to see that my GMAX3100 is already recognized with quartz support.

When i run the 10.5.8 combo update, again i did not do the Backup/Move of the AppleIntelGMAX*.* and AppleIntel IntegratedFramebuffer but this time the screen freezes in the Apple loading background, then i rebooted and moved the AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext only to the backup folder. Once booted my GMAX3100 is recognized again with quartz support.

At the moment

I did not install Custom DSDT + Hibernation(S4) fix and the

Brightness Control + Power Button

so until now my T61 uses Darwin Bootloader instead of Chameleon.

For the wireless i bought an (unbranded) RTL8187 Usb wifi with antennae, I downloaded the driver NETGEAR_wg111v2_MacOS10.5_v1.1.0 provided by sendblink23 in his RTL8187 reply to post to Penguin X.

"Thanks sendblink23 for the link and the info"

now the wifi is working fine.

For additional keyboard support i downloaded the latest version of double command (freeware) and activated the use of ctrl key as command key and pc style home and end key.

Im still having a little problem with the mouse when i connect it to the right usb slot near the dvd drive, sometimes it works sometimes it does not. (this problem is only for the mouse), and also the system time when moving from OSX to win7 i usually adjust the time in windows, but when moving from win7 to OSX the system time is ok.

By the way i used EasyBCD 1.7.2 to dual boot Leo and Win7.

hoping a driver for biometric coprocessor will come out soon, it was recognized as usb attached in the system profile.

AGAIN, THANKS YOU VERY MUCH for the guide and information.

I recently booted from the iPC Final DVD of Leopard as bozilla and some others had recommended that Distro as the best.

First time I tried. The screen showed the apple logo and was doing nothing.

Second time it was showing the "animated circle" and later also showed a small gray/silver "prohibited / banned" sign

http://rlv.zcache.com/no_symbol_universal_...514qjcl_400.jpg

in the middle of the screen in front of apple logo as the animated circle below kept on going.

I waited for a long time and eventually rebooted out. How much time do I have to wait for this to do anything?

PS: Also, I plan to install the OS on a USB external HDD. I was able to create HFS partitions on it using MacDrive / TransMac.

Should I use / try some other distro / methods instead?
