Hello everyone,

My name is Madcoaster and i am a new member to this forum.

I am a newbie to the scene but knew about it along time ago.

I have always put off installing tiger on my pc,

but i finally want to do it!.

And thats were you can help me out,

i have read alot on the wiki pages, and read alot of walktroughs,

but they all are different and complex.

I checked my Computer configuration and i have a Pentium 4 3.20 ghz with hypertheating,

and 1 gig of ram. After checking it is "SSE3" compatible.

Could you guys tell me wich guide to use?

And alsaw will it work for 99 % like a real mac would work?

I mean will i be able to run Tiger like it would run on a powermac with all the features,

run the appications like FCP,After Effects,...

cause i cant find if it is GUI supporter

Ohh and i alsaw read that you wont be able to upgrade itunes, is this alsaw

the case for SSE3 processors ?

Thanks in advance !

With best regards,

Madcoaster

Go with the latest release of Mac OS X i.e. 10.4.6 and u have the max of mac.

this version has far more stability for PowerPC apps than its predecessor.

As the version is the latest, u might get most threads related with it.

Hé thanks Colonels1020,

im going to look in to this one !!

thanks

just one question is it possible to install the 10.4.4 version and then upgrade?

cause the 10.4.4 is easyer to find

I would like to get some clear info on the update section, cause what i hear is that you can't update without damaging your install ?

thanks again!

Madcoaster

It is possible to upgrade a 10.4.4 install to a 10.4.6 install. It is just easier to download and install an already updated version. If you wanted to upgrade your 10.4.4 install, you would have to download the installer patches from maxxuss' website. To find out his instructions on how to upgrade and install, just google "Maxxuss"

Hé thanks colones

I think that i will go for a 10.4.6 version,

but to be honest, the walktrough you gave me,

seems difficult, are there no easyer ways of doing this ?

and alsaw in his tutorial he stated that it does not run at full speed,

is this something that i should expect ? Cause i really want to use Tiger like it would run on a powermac, cause my specs are pretty much the same.

thanks again !!

Well if you wanted to keep Windows, the first thing that you would have to do would be to partition your hard drive with a disk manager. Something like Partition Magic will work. You can also use the built in FDISK utility that Windows has. Here is a guide on how to use it.

And for your second question, the benefit for only running Tiger would be that you wouldn't have to worry about the Windows/Mac file compatability, partitioning your hard drive, and setting up the bootloader.

Okay then, from here you have two options. There's the VMWare method and the native method. VMWare is really for if you don't have a DVD drive. I highly recommend the native method. If you're ready for the native all you have to do is put the install DVD in, boot off the DVD, and start the installer.

So it won't work better if you choose for a complicated strategy?

bey the way, its hard to get 10.4.6 :-)

i think it will take alot of time before i get my hands on this version.

Greets,

Madcoaster

thanks for your all your help allready !

Try getting a 10.4.5 DVD then. Upgrading 10.4.5 to 10.4.6 isn't really hard. It's alot harder upgrading 10.4.4 or 10.4.3. Quixos made a guide for upgrading 10.4.5 to 10.4.6. The 10.4.5 DVD is easier to get and it is upgraded without much difficutly.

good news !

I have found a 4.4.6 version and im going to have it within 4 hours.

So my HD is formatted in fat32 with 16.5 gb off free space.

Whats the next step to prepare my computer for mac?

backing up my window files just in case ?

Cause people reporterd installing mac and then not beeing able to boot into windows no more. something about setting up dualboot.

greets,

look forward hearing from you

Michaël.

This is the info i found about the 4.4.6 iso that i'm going to have.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Min req SSE2 PAE, this iso works on AMD/INTEL but the preferred platform is AMD just to {censored} off apple and their lame and retarded cpuid checks ;)

10.4.4/5/6 Selectable in the installer customize section, make sure to view the OSX86 Hack Group in the installer

10.4.4_SSE3_ONLY_KERNEL Unselected by default

This kernel is Intel/AMD sse3 only and doesn't have NX/CPUID/RTC/SSE2 patches NOTE IT Doesn't Work with AMD X2

so only use it if your cpu doesn't need any addictional patch , if your system panics at boot, type mach_kernel.old

This iso has itunes 6.04 and Java5 release 4 updates are included too

Third part drivers included:

NVidia nForceX, MCP51, CK8S , ATI SBXXX series PATA IDE coded by Zappadoc http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=13197

C-Media 8738 coded by dogbert http://scifi.pages.at/ffm-2/

Via Rhine coded by http://www.pinxue.net/mac/viarhine.html

Nforce4 Only Network driver coded by planetbeing http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=12933

Gma 900, Sigmatel 9920, Soundblaster usb, Radeon mobility packages from Jas dvd

Via mono audio fix from the osx86 forum

Semjza 10.4.6 decrypted files & most important Maxxuss work

http://www.konglish.org/

http://semjaza.freewebpage.org/

NB: SATA DOESN'T WORK ON NFORCE4 , DON'T INSTALL IT ON A SATA HD, sata isn't enabled after the reboot to prevent hd corruption

Sata is enabled and working for NFORCE3

10.4.3 usb kexts are included and selected by default , unselect them if you want, 10.4.3 usb kexts seem to work best with nforce3/4

Plus something more i don't remember now :)

Can u just check which chipset ur moterboard uses.

As its Intel 915/9xx series, ur in a chance to get most out of ur system.

U can gain access to all the eye candy that apple packs in with Mac OS.

If ur having a separate HDD, it will be more handy for u, so that u cant put on the risk and that atleast

u'll be with Windows XP at the end of the whole operation.

I'll suggest u download the Jas 10.4.6 DVD, it has the max option.

And yes it will be better 4 u to first try installing via VMWare.

Even if u dont have a dvd drive, u can install it to a physical partition(only after u check whether ur system actually is capable of running it).

For that u just post a basic System Config.

And as soon as u dwld the install DVD, just PM me.

And don't forget

INSTALLING MAC OS X 10.4 on a generic PC IS DAMMMM SIMPLE.
