colonelvirus
Hey guys, First off, I've never approached the hacking together of a OS for a PC, so I'm a bit out of my depth, specially when it comes to things going wrong. I've recently been trying to install leopard 10.5.6 on my intel quad core pc (i've checked the compatibility of all my hardware, and everything seems fine, motherboard needs the restart fix, but thats it). I've followed a couple of guides on here, and one on youtube (I used the one on youtube because he has almost exactly the same setup as me, so I just changed what drivers I needed accordingly). Yet ofc, this didn't work, I installed it, and it fails. I reburn the disc (incase of disc problem) and it goes through the instal fine, but wont boot. It goes to the apple screen and just sit their, I left if for 45 minutes, just incase. Restarted it, re-installed, and this time it boots to the apple loading screen (grey apple, with loading animation below it) and it crashed, tells me to reboot. I reboot, and it booted into the welcome wooshy thing, and then crashed. I reboot and it just goes into a constant crash, reboot cycle, never going back to the welcome screen. I looked up online that I should start it in verbose mode by typing -v-f in the boot options. From what I can tell I've got something wrong with my firewire, majorly. It's constantly spitting out: FireWire GUID ffffffffffffffff is invalid! And something about it setting my fireware to full-security. I've tried all the different customized setups that I could for my hardware. But nothing works, it just loads, and then crashes. The -v-f doesn't boot either, it just crashes (freezes) when it spits out what version of Mac I have. I'm currently going to try and use ideneb instead, see if I get anywhere closer with that instal. But any help with this would be great! Sorry this is so long, i've spent 9 hours today trying to get it to work, and no luck . System is - Intel core 2 quad - q9950 2.83GHZ LGA775 (supports SSE2,SSE3) EVGA Nforce 680i SLI 122-CK-NF68 motherboard DDR2 800MHZ PC2-6400 4GB Memory Nvidia Geforce 8500GT 256MB Graphics 2x 150gb SATA HDDs (disc utilies picks both up fine) onboard sound and ethernet. (ethernet works with ndarwin ethernet driver, i think thats what it's called) Anyway, thanks again for your time! Col.
