so... no one can help me? i was hoping the solution might be simple for some of you, or at least you'd have some ideas on what to try next.

Using netkas beta boot it works fine. (http://files.netkas.org/10.6.2/boot.bz2) regular PC EFI 10.5 does not, nor does your modified version. Yours atleast gets me to a desktop whereas regulat rc4 freezes or KP

edit: so i have to change the framebuffer name to Shrike in ati.c according to Netkas. unfortunaly i cant make cause i didnt install the dev additions yet.

Ah, this explains why I can't help (yet). As soon as netkas releases the sources of his ATI addons that he made after the PCIEFI10.5/w/cham2R3 release, I'll integrate them if the chameleon team does not precede me in that task :D

BTW, Folks, If any of you have access to an i7 imac, please give a dump here for your local P55 wizards (programmers) so that we can develop better cpu support ...

GA-P55M-UD4

So the GA-P55M-UD4.zip contains all what I use for my board. Bios version "F5" is required. Later or earlier Bios version can make problems.

Thanks "rekursor" (his boot file) all is now working perfect, including sleep kernel panics have gone. :thumbsup_anim:

Move the boot file as well as Extra directory to /

But don't move the System folder. Select only the two files from System/Library/Extensions and move them to the right destination not the whole System folder.

SMUUID and SMserial numbers in Extra/smbios.plist must be set to right number, now they are set to zero, maybe some other parameters as well when using Core I5 CPU or other clocked memory.

Rename the right dsdt.aml.* file to "dsdt.aml" . The dsdt.aml.corei7 and dsdt.aml.corei5 contain the speedstep code Tony use.

Gigabyte s SATA / IDE chip is not supported by me. (I don't need it)

Maybe it will not work for some other people. This depend on what videocard they use (I use XFX ATI Radeon HD4870). Graphicenabler is on in this com.apple.boot.plist. I don't know how long audio will work, the current solution is not really great.

At this time all is working perfect on my computer. Except fakesmc tell me from many missing keys.

Sorry noticed now, that I get still sometimes random Kernel Panics. but it seems not so often like before.

Thanks Treky- I added it to the DSDT Database. Only a few GA boards left, but I need help with the other boards edits.

If anyone needs something to do, or wants to help out, there are a bunch of Vanilla edits only up there. I'd love to complete the edits on those. Thanks in advance! :P

i had same board as yours. By using your DSDT on my drive. Its can't boot and stuck on "SATAPI initial device did not completed successfully,,,," , when I replace with no specified core version or totally without DSDT. It can boot normally.. i want to have core information...confusing=.=.

Ok, here's a little more detail on what I'm using:

The cards PCI ID is 0x94421002

I'm using the modified boot file from tony's macosxsnowleopard.zip,

md5sum /boot
add52dcf89cf32b7d5b684b1e2a48fc6 /boot

  • ATIRadeonX2000 1.6.0.92 (7152) - This is the version that ships with 10.6.1, but mine is possibly modified... 0x94421002 is listed in the IOPCIMatch key
  • LegacyATI4800Controller 9.0.2 - Fairly sure this is from netkas.org
  • ATI4800Controller 1.6.6.25 (7429) - Unmodified, this is the retail 10.6.2 kext
  • ATISupport 1.6.6.25 (7429) - Unmodified, again, this should be the retail 10.6.2 kext

Sorry I'm a little hazy on the details of what I did to get everything working... but that's what's on my system and working right now. I updated my sig so you can see my hardware as well.

Thanks. That didn't work but after many tries I finally got it to boot using evoenabler kext.

I'm finally able to boot in regular (not safe) mode and just starting to set the rest of the system up. So far it found my new apple keyboard and magic mouse immediately :D:D:D

(S)ATAPI Sounds like a CD-Drive. Problem is: I don't have a CD-Drive connected to my computer. I had all done with USB-drives. I'm out of knowledge here. What does this means "when I replace with no specified core version or totally without DSDT" ? That only the extension with speed step code make the problem ? If yes, what CPU have you got, i5 or i7 ?

I can't test out the core i5 dsdt, because I don't have a core i5 CPU. So I have just added Tony s i5 code, but nothing tested or confirmed.

Tony (or anyone else), I'm now trying to get sound working. I have the same board (UD2) and followed your guide to insert the 10.6.1 appleHDA and have the LegacyHDA_ACL888b in the extra folder but don't get any sound.

Make sure you're using the DSDT from tonymacx86-snowleopard or tonymac-DSDT-FIXES. The HDEF fix is in both- also update to the latest bios if you haven't already. Good luck.

I am. So, you basically confirm that you DON'T get these errors and I should look more into it.

Note: In your zip files, the DSDT.dsl is dated Dec 7 while the .aml (compiled) is dated Dec 3. Is there any chance you forgot to include a newer compiled version in the zip file ? Same goes for the UD2 file in the database.

Ah, this explains why I can't help (yet). As soon as netkas releases the sources of his ATI addons that he made after the PCIEFI10.5/w/cham2R3 release, I'll integrate them if the chameleon team does not precede me in that task :)

BTW, Folks, If any of you have access to an i7 imac, please give a dump here for your local P55 wizards (programmers) so that we can develop better cpu support ...

Good news about the i7 iMac i/o dump. Needless to say when I have the time I will have a looksy.

;)

If/when you get the source for ATI from Netkas and integrate them into RC4 maybe you can take out the sleepfix the Chameleon team added? From my experience and what I have read elsewhere the fix is poo!

Also, I removed any device that is useless in my dsdt (like fdc (floppy) ps2 mouse and keyboard and probably more). Did not publish a new version yet because it might not be stable enough, still testing and trying to improve it.

Finally, I read some interesting article about interrupt sources as well, they explained that IRQ conflicts could happen in our hackintosh configurations, especially from HPET with IRQ2/8 conflicting sometimes with other devices like sata if I remember well.

I'll try to test sleep mode next time I boot my 64 bit partition setup and see if I have this problem too in 64 bits ...

One of the reasons I am using yours is that you took out the {censored} from the DSDT. :D

We are on the same page about HPET and IRQ2/8. Looking at the DSDT that's the only thing I wonder about. I know a KP and mine are not typical; the system just reboots, no message or anything so I can't even tell what the hangup was. I was even booting in Verbose mode just to see the KP debug, but nope....

I thought about perhaps my KP was also due to my mod'd AppleHDA.kext (running in 64-bit mode) hence why I wanted to know what you were using. But as you are in 32-bit most of the time your experiences will be different. I also use Taruga's HDAenabler (placed inside the kext itself), with nothing more than the plist with the proper jack configuration swap into AppleHDAPlatformDriver.kext (that's my secret). Regardless, thanks for your insight. :)

The UD2 DSDT I'm using currently is dated 7:17PM Dec. 3rd. All edits are done. This works with 10.6.1 AppleHDA in /System/Library/Extensions and LegacyHDA_ALC888b.kext in /Extra/Extensions. I'm on bios version f5. I get AppleHDA errors booting, but that is normal- don't have an issue with any ins or outs. Here's what the System Profiler reports:

Hope this helps! Can't understand why you don't have sound.

If you have a UD2 then sound should work with the files tony recommends. I too got problems at one point, but going back and installing completely new solved the problems forever for me.

I got me a SATA drive and was able to Install Snow Leopard. I got to the point where you add ethernet access, but couldn't get that to work, figured I'd reboot and start fresh. however, now I can't boot into Leopard at all. It gives me a screen full of lines, then blacks out. I suspect I messed up the sudo command that rewrote the boot

side question, is there supposed to be "\" in the command sudo rm /Volumes/Snow\ Leopard/boot?

any thoughts, or should I just wipe and try again?

When you rebooted, you were only on 10.6- that kernel doesn't work with P55 boards. You'll have to boot using the cd- choose your Snow Leopard install at the Chameleon screen. Make sure your bios is set for CD boot priority. When you get back to the desktop, you should have ethernet access- download and install the Combo update from Apple. :)

Oh, and the \ is because Terminal doesn't like spaces in Volume names- that tells it that it's ok. When you drag any Volume path into Terminal, you'll see that it will create those front slashes.

Just had a quick go over of the recently ripped IORegistery of an i7 iMac. I must say, it looks like it has a lot of similarities to the UD3R (8086:3b56 device id for ALC888 audio for example) yet so many values that are throw'n me for a loop, and some that are missing, such as on mine I get RTC, yet the iMac has no RTC but LPC instead. My brain is hurting already, but I know that people in the community can make good use of the IORegistery and cannot wait to see the progress. ;)

is anyone getting a squealing sound coming from the PSU or mobo when doing CPU and HDD intensive tasks while in OS X? e.g. couple of seconds into using Spotlight. kind of sounds like an HDD seeking sound, but more high pitched and definitely coming from the PSU or northern part of the mobo! ;) tried a search in Win 7 but no squeal sound.

Ahh, ok. I do get sound, I was just trying to fix the errors but if everyone gets them too then that's ok I guess.

Perhaps you could include this in your next revision of the guide, if you don't get sound, make sure you play around with the outputs at system preferences, mine worked at internal speakers.

Thanks to theotherone for responding too.

Also, for those noticing that their ethernet does not operate at gigabit speeds, you have to go to preferences and manually change it, it works fine then, assuming of course you're using a gigabit switch/router and the right cable.

Myself I had to manually go to network preferences and add a location for ethernet to work, it doesn't automatically appear...

Here's a tip for command line. When typing directories, type the first few letters and hit the tab key, it will auto-fill the rest of the directory/file name unless there's more than one match. So, to avoid mistakes, hit the following keys on your keyboard sudo rm /Vol<tab>Sno<tab>boot. You'll notice the OS adds the \ before spaces exactly as described.

Hi,

I had the same sound coming from my PSU, a lot of people have the same problem mostly with seasonic Psu and the new intel chipsets. Try to disable the power saving options in bios (it was the solution in my case) or to overclock. If it don't works you can try with another PSU.

Rich, that is exactly the sound I'm getting (sounds like a high pitched HDD seek sound/static). I only get the sound when I remove NullCpuPowerMgmt kext. Put that kext back in, and the sound will go away. The only problem is that my performance DROPS about 400 points (in geekbench) when I use NullCpuPowerMgmt.

I have a Corsair power supply, and I don't think it is the where the sound is coming from (but not sure). It sounds like its coming from the motherboard, but very hard to pinpoint. I was able to minimize the sound by overclocking to 3.2+, but then I was having issues with onboard sound cutting out, etc, so I'm back to stock speeds.

I've tried with both speedstep and non-speedstep DSDTs, but it doesn't make a difference. Would love to hear if anyone has solved this.
