Elventanis
I tried adding the Sleep DSDT changes to my aml file, and also removed the appropriate KEXTS from E/E folder. I noticed the following: 1. When put the system to sleep from the menu, it seemed to go down fine and as expected. But when I press a key, it does try to wake up, but nothing comes back on the monitor. The machine is up, but there is no picture? Any ideas? 2. Also a side effect or removing the IOACHIBlockStorageInjector.kext is that the OS X drives, the Gigabyte SATA ports are now showing up as external drives instead of internal drives? I did make a change to the info.plist for the AppleACHI kext as noted by Kala... earlier in this thread. Not sure if that is causing that Any ideas what I did wrong? Thx
Treky
just make sure you check all of the boxes in System Preferences/Energy Saver and remove NullCPUPowerManagement. All this was already done. Try comparing yours with the one i posted- it should work with sleep- Even if I try out your compiled dsdt.aml file instead of my, no change. Sleep want not working. Have you select special settings in BIOS ? S3 state is selected in Bios on my computer.
rekursor
Rekursor is proud to present: The imac 27" core i5 DUMPS !!! After lot of underground research, I finally found an i5 ioreg !!! But It was a binary ioreg only readable by IORegistry, So I converted it to text format and then extracted all the ACPI tables (DSDT, SDDTs, ..) to make them directly useable to anyone that understands how to use DSDTSE... There are the REAL i5 processor values (see SSD3.aml in the package) as well as tons of other information to test (SATA, USB, and more ..) Special thanks goes to Galaxy for the binary initial ioreg format from where I extracted the aml files. ENJOY ! ACPI_i5.zip PS: I would really love to get an exact i7 dump guys for us i7 owners, but meanwhile thought that many folks here will be happy with that one. I'm sure though that some info like sata, usb is still valid and genuine for i7 users ...

TR0LL
love this thread, what i understand of it at least . the energy in here is awesome. thanks for all the work on this guys... i can tell you all like the challenge, but just wanted to let you know there are others who are anxious following your progress here as well. i just completed ordering all the parts for my i7 / UD3R build and am hoping to have something to show for it next weekend. really looking forward to getting started! p.s. i'm typing on my brand new 13" unibody MacBook. I was at Microcenter today picking up my i7 860 processor and they had an 'open box' Macbook there for $100 off, and then a $200 rebate. couldn't resist... especially since technically the box was open but the computer was brand new. i'm really diving into the mac world head first now

I'm sure though that some info like sata, usb is still valid and genuine for i7 users ... I cannot wait. Somewhat off topic, but I thought I'd bring it up. I just spent the last day reinstalling OS X on my main drive because I installed Windows 7. Here's what happened. Have OS X SL on my main SATA. My 2nd SATA I partitioned 400GB for backup (including OS X SL) and 100GB (FAT32) for W7. Installed W7 no prob, went back to boot from my main and no OS was found. Tried booting from my 2nd and W7 booted. Wonderful... So I had to instal 10.5.8 after wiping my OS BU and then re-backup my main drive onto it, wiped my main and installed SL again. All is good; bootloaders are on both drives. So, I unplugged my main drive this time and re-installed W7. Worked, but no boot into OS X on my 2nd. How do I safely install W7 on a separate partition and still be able to boot into OS X from that drive?
aushack
thanks tonymacx86 and whoever posted the P55-UD4P DSDT! i now have all my Intel sata ports working so i can use my 1TB HDD for Windows 7 and Time Machine . but i now cant get audio with Voodoo working out the front port? and AppleHDA 1.7.4a1 with LegacyHDA doesnt work either, which i would like to get workign so i can use the back port. also sleep is a no go, everything but the GPU goes off (and the RAM of course) and i have to reset. also a mate of mine has an i7Mac so i would be glad to post the output of ioreg when he gets back to me. btw a little hint i worked out. if you want a Windows 7 NTFS partition and an HFS partition on the same disk with GUID and you want to install Windows 7 on the NTFS, you have to unplug the sata cable from your boot drive in order to install. no idea why! then use Chameleon on your boot disk to boot into Windows 7. Not sure if this is exactly what you mean, but tonymacx86 has a guide for dual booting OSX/Win7 off a single drive: Dual Boot Windows 7 and OS X Snow Leopard Using Chameleon Another slight aside just in case anyone has the same problem. After getting my UD3R/i5 build setup, in this case OS X and Win 7 on separate drives, I booted into Win 7 and decided to hide the OS X drive by removing the drive letter. Rebooting off the OS X drive caused the bootloader to fail with a boot0:error. On my OS X drive (2 partitions, bootloader and OS X) Win 7 had changed the 2nd partition's type to Microsoft Basic Data - should be Apple HFS+. I followed the guide below to correct the partition type error without the need to reinstall OS X: Boot failure - invalid partition type

Rich, I am glad my DSDT provided a good starting point for you. I would suggest you use DSDTSE and go through the code to check that all the patches you want are there. After you boot, open DSDTSE and Extract DSDT, this way you know that you are patching the DSDT file that is actually been used. Go through tonymac's list of patches and make sure they are all there. For audio, I finally managed to get AppleHDA to work following treky's post on page 33 of this thread. The sound is much cleaner than VoodooHDA with no cracking. Try and see if that method works for you, make sure you use AppleHDA version 1.7.4a1 (from 10.6 and 10.6.1). Sleep almost works. It works if you manually put the computer to sleep but not if you let the computer sit and wait until it goes to sleep on its own.

tintin220
Okay, I've tried just about everything and I can't get my DSDT file to work beyond the basic initial two hacks. I haven't attempted the USB UHCI/EHCI (steps 3-4) because for my motherboard, everything is completely different. I get step 5 to compile correctly for PIC and TMR, but when I try to change HPET, it fails to compile. Adding Sbus also fails to compile. As for the Speedstep for i5, it compiles correctly but upon loading, it freezes and leaves me a screen saying 4 threads expected, but 5 found. I've tried editing this to make it work for my board (for instance, my board lists the processor as CPU1 - CPU8, not CPU0 - CPU7 but I get the same error on startup). It's driving me nuts! Can anyone help? Here's my DSDT file so far. Thanks so much. Asrock_P55_Pro.aml.zip
Icestorm
Hello ^^ I Have a problem to install Snowleoaprd .. Here is my system: GA-P55-UD4 Core i7 860 8 Gb ram GTX 260 I have tried so many methodes to install it, but it dont work -.- i am very frustrated. First I boot into my iDeneb ( extern HDD) Than I formatet my SATA HDD , with 1 partition and GUID. After that I mountet my Snowleopard install DVD.Than I installed Snowleopard to the new formatet HDD. I used tony mac guide: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/alt...ow-leopard.html When I try to install 10.6.2 update it says : "You cannot install Mac OS X Update Combined on this volume. This software requires Mac OS X 10.6.2 to be installed on the startup volume. Than I donwloaded the files from tonymac. I installed PC EFI to my SATA. than I deleted the mach_kernel and the boot file. After that i put from tony´s download: boot, DSDT.aml, mach_kernel and EXTRA to the SATA. I editet the com.apple.boot.plist. That the installation boot with -x busratio=21 cpus=1 -v Than i shut down my PC. I plugged my extern HDD off. And my SATA is connected to the GRAY. And I plugged my DVD drive off. Than i boot into my new installation and it does not work -.- I Have make a video (please ignore the sound, that was my TV xD) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_8jCuZiGVI It would be very nice if someone could help me.. rekursor
Here is my Extra folder I just had a look to your smbios.plist file and thought your sleep pb on your asus mb might come from the mem. decl as your sleep works with one mem. module (?) krokko
@Icestorm, you could try conti's installer to boot 10.6.0 with chocolate kernel(checkbox), then apply tony's files after 10.6.2 combo-update . Tip : make some partitions for clones and fresh install .

But now, which options i've to use/select??? Thanks to all guys you are my heroes!! Your links do not work, just sends me to the upload page. I would actually d/l iDeneb Lite 10.5.8 v1.6 as it is a lot more generic with the kexts. Plus, Qoopz 9.8 kernel will provide better stability/compatibility with your cpu. The bootloader may even be more current (I tried iDeneb 10.5.7 and didn't like it, used iPC 10.5.6 instead until the latest iDeneb was released. Off the top of my head, I would say the checkboxes you need in iDeneb lite will be at least these: Kernel- Qoopz 9.8 Bootloader- Chameleon 2 Audio- VoodooHDA.kext Video-ATI ATY_init.kext Ethernet-R1000.kext (I am not sure for wifi) SMBIOS choose MacPro 1333MHz or 1066MHz (when you update the bootloader to PC_EFI 10.5 RAM should be reported properly, if not d/l Lizard and change it there) Chipset: I am not sure, but check the description for each and find the one for generic Intel, or the closest one that looks right. Look for USB/EHCI fix options Now, keep in mind the list I gave is from memory, but they are all there. Hope this helps.
rekursor
Hey rekursor- what are you using for audio- for my post on HDEF. Can you post the LegacyHDA kext you're using? Thanks! I'm using the hdaenabler/applehda pair because it the other hda solutions did work for me but displayed a hell of error/ weird console messages and this combo (posted previously here) does not. Nothing is perfect in this world, so next apple update I should care about reinjecting the applehda but that's fair enough
