I am using the darwin.iso which you have provided and thanks that it has worked for me on SL 10.6. However, I am stucked with the error "EFI runtime returned 0" when I updated it to SL 10.6.2 or 10.6.3. Are you or anyone aware of this error and how to resolve it?

 

Download the darwin legacy iso and then open vmware and pointh the cd/dvd drive to darwin legacy iso and then start mac osx :

Not seen any problems with the Vanilla kernel installing the 10.6.2 and / or 10.6.3 updates. It maybe you are running a non vanilla distribution, rather than the vanilla kernel from the "retail" DVD. If so not really supported in this topic, but updates like 10.6.2 and 10.6.3 replace the kernel, so you will need to replace with a legacy kernel.

If you bought the DVD at the store then it is retail. If you downloaded it, google it and you should be able to figure it out.

 

Also, did you make a backup of your kernel and extensions before update?

 

If you didn't, then remember ALWAYS backup your kernel and extensions before update.

 

If you did, you can boot into single user mode using -s. Then you can use the terminal to replace the kernel with your backup 10.6 kernel, but I would also save the 10.6.2 kernel just in case.

Thanks ArgVega! It solves my problem. Below is what I have done which may help others to get their SL 10.6.2/3 working.

 

If you are able to boot into your SL 10.6 but not able to boot into your SL 10.6.2, try the following steps.

 

1) Backup your 10.6 Kernel (Ensure that your account password is NOT BLANK.

sudo cp /Volumes/<HardDisk name>/mach_kernel /Volumes/<HardDisk name>/mach_kernel_10.6

* You will be prompt to key in your password

 

2) Install the 10.6.2 update

DO NOT restart after installation.

 

3) Backup the 10.6.2 Kernel

sudo cp /Volumes/<HardDisk name>/mach_kernel /Volumes/<HardDisk name>/mach_kernel_10.6.2

 

4) Overwrite the 10.6.2 Kernel with 10.6 Kernel

sudo cp /Volumes/<HardDisk name>/mach_kernel_10.6 /Volumes/<HardDisk name>/mach_kernel

 

5) Reboot and hopefully you can get into OSX!

hi to all!! i've a little problem... i've installed without problem leopard on my vmware workstation 7.1 (host win7 64bit) with all video and audio driver, but i've a little video problem. If i try to open a simple image with the preview program i see a blank screen... i've the same blank screen with other program (imove and other)... can someone help me??

So with the commandline setting, you get "neraly full screen". If you don't find it in the posts here or through google, just answer to my post.

I got it working full screen using zenith's driver from sourceforge. Still have major issues with sound (even using his driver) though, and the mouse stops working after a period of time. Maybe it's a power management thing, haven't really investigated that at all yet. If I could solve the sound issue and got VMware Tools working, I'd say this thing is running 100%. But right now it won't work for my purposes unfortunately (Garageband).

I have my 10.6.2 running fine on VMWare Workstation 7.01 (and under player) on my Lenovo T61 ThinkPad. I have no problems going full screen on the laptop LCD (1440x900) or on my external LCD (1920x1200).

 

Logitech do not appear to have an OS X driver for your Webcam, but macam's universal driver might work, link below:

I thought I'd provide a quick update. After a bit of searching around, I discovered that my Webcam (Logitech Webcam C120) is supported by the UVC driver. It works fine with PhotoBooth so now I just have to test it with my IM software (once I get a colleague online at the other end).

it's all the morning that I am trying to start the thing up..

 

I have a 4i box (hp ml115 g5) it has a Quad Core Opteron 1354 and 5gb of ram

 

I installed the last Guest Package, I created the VM as the guide said, I edited my vmx adding

Won't work because Snow Leopard isn't working on ESXi's earlier virtual hardware platform, specifically the LAPIC and timer support. I am working on it in another thread but have not released it yet as I am waiting on some other work being done for me by Chameleon team.

My mistake, it is due to the fact you are using AMD CPUs. They won't work with a retail installation of Mac OS X. Need to have something from Intel which are 64-bit and VT-x enabled.

I'm trying to get OS X installed to an ESX 4.0 U1 server. It's a DELL Poweredge T310 with an intel xeon processor.

 

 

 

I followed the guide to the T and every time I get the guest OS' "darwin-64" or "darwin10-64" is not a supported OS.

 

 

 

I'm looking for soem guidance as to what I'm doing wrong.
