Shibbi90
Hey. I have a little problem installing Snow Leopard. After loading the Darwin.iso file and switching over to the osx.iso file and booting with -v i get the CPU turned off message. smarty94
As soon as the kernel is added,I have an AMD SVM system to test on. Looking forward to more progress! PS: INsaNLEY maC STILL DOESN'T WORK WITH FIREFOX 3.6.X ARRRG! It's coming soon!! I am just finishing some code changes to allow the boot.plists to be read from the hard drive as well as a needed efault one on the CD image. Also going to add the latest nawcom/qoopz 10.3.0 kernel to see if we can get VT-x enabled older processors to work; e.g. P4D. Possibly even AMD SVM enabled CPUs, but less certain about that. Edit: I have decided for now not to add a kernel into the ISO as there still seem to be some issues that need resolving.
Shibbi90
I only have one problem left (I hope!). I cant get my USB mouse to work in VMware, so its kinda hard to format my HDD and install the OS. Does anyone have a solution for me? I just tried a PS/2 mouse and it still doesn't work. Okay, i managed to move around only using the keyboard. When i tried to format my HDD it all went wrong. I'm using a own 2TB HDD for this project. Take a look at the pic of my error.. http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/8003/faaaail.jpg

Oops, just noticed your edit, you are running SL, in which case you can still use the wks7 zip, but add the amended lines to your VMX file: keyboard.vusb.enable = "TRUE" mouse.vusb.enable = "TRUE"
Shibbi90
Thanks for all the help! I got one last question, is it possible to boot from the HD i installed SL on? Or do i have to use SL thru VMware? Would be awesome with a boot CD that i can burn, boot from and select my Mac HD
MSoK
Thanks for all the help! I got one last question, is it possible to boot from the HD i installed SL on? Or do i have to use SL thru VMware? Would be awesome with a boot CD that i can burn, boot from and select my Mac HD Some confusion, perhaps, as when you create OS X under VMware it is installed to a virtual hard drive, not a physical hard drive, also the darwin.iso provides the boot functionality, so not really a question for this topic. This topic is purely for running OS X under VMware ESXi 4.x, Workstation 7.x or Player 3.x. I suggest you need to have a look at the hackintosh topics, as I am sure I have seen mention of doing what you ask, i.e. boot from CD or USB stick, sorry I do not have a link, MSoK. Todd 9
Hi all, I have everything up and working on with a 10.6.3 virtual machine on Workstation 7 on windows 7 with the workstation 7 darwin iso. Thanks for all the hard work! I'm in the process of installing the sound drivers, as well as configuring video. I have dual monitors, however when I click on the dual monitor button in workstation I receive the error "Vmware Workstation does not support the multiple monitors feature in Max OS X server 10.6 64 bit guests" I'm assuming this is a limitation of the vmware tools I've installed in my guest. Does anyone know a workaround for this? thanks, Todd
kykkys
I post again because i have lost the forum's address and now i can't find my message, and also because i change cpu. When i start wmware workstation with snow leopard it tells me: "A virtual CPU has entered the shutdown state. This would have caused a physical machine to restart. This can be caused by an incorrect configuration of the virtual machine, a bug in the operating system or a problem in the VMware Workstation software. Press OK to restart the virtual machine or Cancel to power off the virtual machine." How i can resolve it? MSoK
Last I tried, there was poor video playback in a macosx VM. Has this improved any? I'd like to use my VM for everyday use. Thanks, Mike Mike, See my response to your similar request in Zenith432's graphics driver topic, link below: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1453227 I am not sure how far things have progressed, as per my Host OS comment in the link above, but try the latest darwin.iso and Workstation 7.0.1, link below: http://rapidshare.com/files/365613323/VMwa...est_Package.zip If that does not improve the situation, then you can try the latest beta version of workstation 7.1, with Donk's fusion 3.1 beta darwin.iso, link below, but this will require removal of Zenith432's graphics drivers if installed. But be warned this can break things, so make sure you have backups of your VM's etc. http://rapidshare.com/files/378597781/Darwin310Beta1.zip Please be aware that the 3.1 beta darwin.iso, does not appear to work with Workstation 7.0.1, it requires the Workstation 7.1 beta. Thanks to Donk for his continued good work in providing updated darwin.iso files.
Todd 9
Hey all. I've stumbled across some good audio drivers for the virtual machines. I've tried the video as well, and they both give me a performance boost. here are the drivers. http://sourceforge.net/projects/vmsvga2/ here is the original blog. On a previous post you left a copy of your VMX file, for which I gave you some pointers, which resolved a processor error, one final thing comes to mind, you had the following entry in your VMX file: maxvcpus = "4" I would go into your VM Workstation and change the virtual machine setting to be one processor and one core per processor, at least initially, have had problem reported in terms of boot issues and instability when allocating more processors or cores to the guestOS. mrmomoman
I don't know what I am doing wrong for the mouse not to work. I have changed the VMX settings to FALSE and TRUE but still can't get the laptop mouse to function but the keyboard works. I am using the darwin.iso for Workstation 7 and OSX SL. I load using the SL OEM disc. It goes through all the loading and gets me to the language screen perfectly fine. I just can't get the mouse or pad to work. I have even plugged in a USB standard mouse to the laptop and still a no go. I have setup 6.53 workstation in the past and it worked out great. Just got a new laptop and wanted to give it a run again with VMWARE ver. 7 and OSX SL. Dell Precision M6500 Quad Core i7 Extreme. 1TB (dual drives) 8GB memory - 1GIG Nvidia FX 3800M GPU. I did a successful install of the OSXSL 10.6.2 on one drive with PCI 10.6. Still got to get the Graphics Driver to work correctly. But its pretty solid. A few sound issues(volume up/down) through the keys not working. Open GL not very fast. But overall a good experience. I have a MacBook Pro 2.8 Unibody as well. Just wanted to play around with this stuff on a PC. Any ideas that I should try? I am still a noob to this stuff but I like to learn.

Vmware will not install, it says server failed or something, where I can download it? 2. Shutdown will crash every time. Other than these, it seems run quit well. Thnaks.
