AviLan
Plextor 880SA (same as Liton, both made by Plextor), access light and noise periodically and machine will not go to sleep by itself. I had to remove the drive in order to update the firmware (Windows support only) and noticed the machine switched into sleep by itself. Also, under Ubuntu there is no problem, noise or sleep. AviLan
Plextor 880SA (same as Liton, both made by Plextor), access light and noise periodically and machine will not go to sleep by itself.I had to remove the drive in order to update the firmware (Windows support only) and noticed the machine switched into sleep by itself. Also, under Ubuntu there is no problem, noise or sleep. Replaced the Plextor 880SA with a Pioneer DVR-218L and all is working as should be. No more access light and noise and machine goes to sleep by itself. Anyone interested in a new Plextor DVD drive?
helladamnleet
According to the service tag, I have a "TSST TS-L632H slim 8x DVD+/-RW" drive, and have had no problem with the drive going to sleep. I will confirm when my new LCD comes in.
Gringo Vermelho
I have a Lite-ON DVDRW LH20A1L, S3 sleep is working and the drive does not make funny noises. Sleep for hard drives is disabled. The drive is plugged into the third SATA port on ICH10R in AHCI mode.
