Dark_Elf
Greetings, I purchased a D-Link DWL-G122 USB card for my laptop. It is a revision b1 with 2.03 firmware. I installed the Ralink driver and when I plug it Wireless USB Utility opens, finds my AP and connects to it, but after less than two minutes I lose the connection and my card disappears from Network Configuration. I tried to set from en0 to en1, but with no success . Is it a firmware problem? Because i know that 2.02 firmware works perfectly. If this is the problem, is a downgrade of the firmware possible? Thanks a lot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16973-dwl-g122-usb/ Share on other sites
rjenovai
I was having the same problem with mine until I changed the channel my wireless router was using. After that the drops went away and it's rock solid. Good luck Randy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16973-dwl-g122-usb/#findComment-109525 Share on other sites
Dark_Elf
I have an AP separated from the router. However I will try. What channel do you use now? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16973-dwl-g122-usb/#findComment-109538 Share on other sites
kikos
Default is usually channel 6. Channel 7 works for me. Also in the network preferences, try manually setting the ip/subnet/gateway/dns to help improve stability. Finally, the drivers for this device are {censored} both in Windows and OSX. The drivers work best if you have encryption disabled. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16973-dwl-g122-usb/#findComment-109674 Share on other sites

Dark_Elf
Sorry, but I didn't connected yesterday. However I changed the channel to 7, but it didn't work, I got the connection for a bit more, but at least felt. Now I'm trying taking the IOUSBFamily.kext from 10.4.3 and changing channel to 11. kikos
try using different channels until hopefully you find one that is stable. maybe you have some type of radio interference in the house? try mving the dwl-g122 away from the wall or any other electronic devices. also try moving your router away from the wall or any other electronic devices. Dark_Elf
I haven't interferences problems, because in Win my Intel (that is not so good as network card) gets excelent signal and the DWL gets in Mac 99. Sometimes after losing the signal the card disappears from network config. I don't think it is a problem of the card because in Win works perfectly. I'm on the way to think that the problem is in the firmware (2.03) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16973-dwl-g122-usb/#findComment-110889 Share on other sites
supernova777
Im using a DWL-G122 REV B1 f/w 2.03 It used to work fine, when i was running 10.2 and 10.3 but now that ive updated to TIGER and to 10.4.11 the utility app says NO DEVICE! Once, from reading, i went into all the Info.plist files and deleted every possible HW setups of Vendor Ids + Product Ids and it would then show TX and RX packets in the utility, but it would say the device was DISCONNECTED! really getting pissed off as ive been at this for a few days now.. probably going on 8+ hours trying to fix it.. MY girlfriend, who previously thought i was a computer genius is not impressed:) back to square one... Ralinktech.com, and editing Info.plist files?? is there any other approach here? csaila at 416design dot com please email me if you have any tips for me as id like to save my previously held high acclaim lol Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/16973-dwl-g122-usb/#findComment-545291 Share on other sites
