I've been trying for hours to get this stupid card working, but no matter what i do i cant get hardware accelerated CI or any QE at all.

Its a 3870 512mb (idk the manufacturer, it doesnt have any stickers on it), Device id 9501.

I can get whatever info is relevant, i just dont know where to start. I tried a ton of different natit kexts but none seem t give me full functionality.

Thanks!

are you on 10.5.6? i could not get my 3870 (sapphire passive) to work properly under 10.5.6.

10.5.5 was ok. right now my update to 10.5.7 seems to work with graphics :P

it took me a while to get my card to work in the first place, i had garbled screen etc. the solution in this case was changing motherboard from nvidia to amd...

did you read the thread about AMD & EFI by mitch_de? might be worth a try ..

I tried the Megadolon efi string (he said not to use the others post-10.5.5), but its still the same. Im on 10.5.7 (easy upgrade, i was surprised) and its an intel mobo, so idk what the deal is.

Do i need to get rid of ATIRadeonX2000.kext too?

Edit:

I deleted atiradeonx2000 and rebooted, but am stuck at 1024x768. I added efi strings via EFI Studio and rebooted, but it apparently was the strings for the 3870x2. I'll keep looking for stings that work.

Edit2:

No matter what i do, my card shows up as a 3870x2....

Weaksauce's hex string solution has worked rock solid for me, you might want to give it a go?

I have a Sapphire 3870 512MB and it works perfectly in 10.5.6/7. Easy solution is to go here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=107526 and look at the bottom for the drivers. Everything works 100% (CI/QE, full rez, dual support)

*Note* Get the latest Natit.kext
