Hi everyone. I did an installation of iPC 10.5.6 on my motherboard Asus P5Q SE plus. Please note that this uses a VIA VT1708s chipset for the sound.

Everything else is working except this one. I have tried the AzaliaAudio.pkg (which claim to work), ALC888Audio.mpkg, and even using the kext helper on installing the kexts in ALC1200_1056. Still, no sound. When I go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES - SOUND there is no output and input devices.

Bios setting has the HD AUDIO enabled and the front panel setting to HD AUDIO. I have no front panel so there is nothing connected to the motherboard pins for that interface. I have known good working headphones connected to the green port at the back so I can hear it just in case it does generate sound.

Please help.

Again this is a VIA VT1708s and not the REALTEK in Asus P5Q SE (no plus).

Hope you guys could help me out.

You should try this kext out. It worked for me on my P5Q SE Plus. However, it only made the headphone output work, not the optical SPDIF. Does anyone have any way to get that interface working on this chipset?

Location of kext:

http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/

I installed it with OSX86 tools and rebooted.

If you get SPDIF working, please let me know how!

hey rlatemp,

you said you are running Hackintosh on your P5Q SE Plus. Could you please tell me what kernel and what bios did you use?

I have been using a hackintosh for a long time. I bought a new mobo (p5q se plus) and tried to install with ideneb, but didnt work!

i guess i am going to try and install with a retail cd,

but then i thought i wanted snow leopard

i don't really know now!

should i first install leopard and then upgrade to snow

or should i start off with Snow?

i already have snow retail!

Hey that's great that you give your feedback.

But, could you be a little more specific?

What did you click or didn't? Did you customize anything or just went ahead and installed, without ever going into customize?

If you gave us a little more info, that would be perfect.

Thanks in advance.

It guessed most of the stuff for me i only clicked in my graphics driver (NVinject or NVenabler)

I also put in JmicronATA and IntelICH support
