iMacME
so i got my parts and will be building my dual boot machine tonight. i got the Asus P5LD2-VM mobo, cuz i've always bought Asus boards (5th so far) and this board seemed to have gotten good success here on the forums. i got Myzar 10.4.4->10.4.5 patched DVD install. and i've tested it on my older P4 processor and it works (although lots of hardware not running). i also have the 10.4.3 extensions in case i need them, but i shouldn't right? everything on this mobo should work out the box with 10.4.5 Myzar. other hardware i'll be using is Pentium D 805, 1gb DDR2, Pioneer 111D dvdwriter. i'll be testing with a regular PATA drive, but looking to get a Seagate 300gb SATA2 drive. anyone know where i can get a DVI ADD2 card for cheap? i'm located in Canada. or should i just save my money and get an ATI X1600 card? or something else that has dual display and supports QE/CI??? atae
The P5LD2-VM has built in GMA950 which works great native. Its not the best choice for gaming so i switch my cable between the GMA and my ATI All in wonder if im doing some gaming(in windows). For audio you will need the proper azaliaaudio kext which you can find on this board with a quick search. And for onboard networking a quick search will also cure that. You should only need to do about 10mintues worth of work to get everything going after your install. Good Luck! Sabr
If you follow this guide for your on-board audio, you should be sorted: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Audio If not, try the AzaliAudio.kext atae was talking about... iMacME
so if i add my vendor and device id to AzaliAudio.kext, my audio should be good to go? how's about the network adapter? do i do the same thing? and if so, what kext should i be editing? thanks in advance! iMacME
so my build and install was a success, network worked right off the bat, didn't need to do any fixing like atae said. only obvious fix is the audio that's not working. other than that, this machine screams compared to my G4 mini!
