jbond
Greetings folks, Thanks Myzar for the work on getting the 10.4.6 update out. I found that Update 1 works for me, Update 2 broke Rosetta, and Update 3 I am still to try. The only problem is that ever since I went to 10.4.6 V1, the system takes a long time to boot. (Also the Loginwindow Problem where it asks for password, I guess that has not been fixed yet.) When I boot in verbose mode, I see that it loads everything fast until it detects the display. Then it just waits for like 30 - 40 seconds, and then starts up the rest. This never happened on the 10.4.5 system. My total boot time on the 10.4.5 system was close to 18 seconds. Now its close to a minute. jackt283
I just updated to 10.4.5 using the Maxxuss method on top of an existing 10.4.4 install DVD, and I am experiencing exactly the same problems. it pauses at the same place and Autologin no longer works... other than that all is great. Any ideas? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15993-myzar-1046-update-slow-boot-times/#findComment-106339 Share on other sites
jackt283
Okay, after disabling my x1600 in BIOS and reverting back to the GMA950, the computer booted in about 18 seconds... maybe something to do with the ATIRadeonX1000.kext. I'm still using the version I modified from 10.4.4... Rammjet
For booting speedups, try the HWSensor and TPMACPI fixes in my sig. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15993-myzar-1046-update-slow-boot-times/#findComment-121371 Share on other sites
vassalle
i've deleted the HWsensor but still hangs there.. Cant seem to find TPMACPI anywhere in the Extensions folder though. Currently running 10.4.6 from the Goatsecx release. (Not so sure whether it is from Jas or Myzar etc.) Got it from the bay. Any other solutions to this minor annoyance? bliss
I've got the same problem. It's the modified ATI driver. But I don't know how to fix it. tried all trics i could find. nothing works it reminds me on the win98 times when hanging 30 seconds on boot when there was no static ip adress on tcp/ip. maybe the patched driver conflicts with the network driver??? ps: sorry for bad english... i'm german Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15993-myzar-1046-update-slow-boot-times/#findComment-122742 Share on other sites

xtraa
If you get a kernelpanic after the tip from bliss: just boot into safe mode (-x at the command prompt) and then again 2. delete /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext After that, don't do a kextcache, just reboot. OSX will rebuild the cache itself. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15993-myzar-1046-update-slow-boot-times/#findComment-154638 Share on other sites
