cromas
Is this just a Cupertino coincidence, or is his site actually hosted by Apple?Who knows.... ...you can fill in anything you want when you register a domain. I bet that's just a joke for anyone like you who might happen to stumble on it.
Guest goodtime
Maxxuss = Protagonist of the V for Vendetta comics. (That or Maxxuss = the universe of all sets?!) Correct! Let's just hope that Steve Jobs is not an evil dictator of a Nazistic country. WOW! good find! EDIT: why cant Apple put a numpad on that thing? And add a right click button on the Trackpad! aldimeneira
That's what I think (I think that he was an Apple engineer since the begining) Yeah, I think that too. He/she may even be the one to code the "locks" in the first place.
rogabean
You know while I seriously doubt maxxuss ever was an Apple employee.. the conspiracy theory of it all would be pretty good. Apple has one of their own people release patches to allow OS 10.4 to run on generic hardware... as they get closer to 10.5, that person disappears... But the damage is done... a lot of people who wouldn't have used OS X before are now hooked. Sure they can ride out 10.4.x for a bit, but eventually the lure of 10.5 will be compelling to them... which conveniently doesn't get cracked by anyone... and Apple sells some more hardware... it's a nice little plot... it's also very unlikely. people come people go. maybe maxxuss will return... maybe not. either way... things will continue and the name maxxuss will remain a landmark in the history of it all. It can't be, because Steve Jobs would have fired him. Or did he get fired after all and then dissappeared? Maybe Big Brother took him out.
Takuro
Well I have a full intent to buy a "Mac Pro" (successor to the current "PowerMac" line.) Now that Apple computers can use windows, I might install Media Center 2005 or Vista on it. Until I got involved with the whole "running OS X on a non-Apple PC" thing, I never really paid attention to Macs. I remember going to my friends house a year ago, seeing some weird silver PC with a clunky icon dock at the bottom, and thinking "wtf." If you rearrange the word "Maxxuss," you get "x s u X-Mas." That could stand for "x-treme sales until Christmas." I think this is totally a conspiracy to make us buy Apple computers you guys...
johnniecarcinogen
Another conspiracy possibillity could be that Maxxuss is AMD, an AMD employee, or an AMD sympathizer. Cracking OS X (for Intel) for regular intel x86's and ulimately AMD x86's seems to be in line with his Skype (10 way calling only for Intel Core Duo) crack. Currently, Skype 2.0 offers 10-way conference calls only on Intel's latest dual-core CPUs, while other chips, including all AMD chips, will only allow for 5-way conference calls. It is argued that only those Intel dual-core CPUs meet the requirements - which would imply that no AMD CPU is fast enough. Now, what are these requirements? Is there some kind of micro-benchmark built into Skype which measures the processing speed? Or does Skype look for a specific hidden CPU feature?... cyclonefr
why would a MS employe port OSX to PC? to crash windows XP sales? i dont think so Maxxuss has just gone, we will have to deal with it.

yoda75
If Maxuss has disappeared it can mean one of two things. 1...He's been caught and dealt with. 2...He's hiding and/or hard at work Either way, trying to figure out his/her identity in a public forum is not the way to make Maxuss turn up with some more goodies for the community. You might make him turn up on the front page news at a trial though.
Colonel
I'm almost positive that Maxxuss is a former Apple employee that was working on the Intel Transition when he got fired. Then he probably took some of his knowleged from Apple to the dev CDs and made OSx86

caladan1810
It's amazing. truly amazing. I feel like I have just read the entire series of X-Files just by reading 5 pages of forum entries on conspiracy theories, that have already been debunked. Mulder & Scully are on the case! For goodness sakes people, leave the person alone. I would Personally like to thank Maxxuss for all the help on OSx86 and for the patches that have been distributed. If it were not for Maxxuss, I would not be writing this on my Mac OS X 10.4.4 Compaq Notebook. Maxxuss Thank You Very Much. I do hope you are safe & well. God speed ! gnubug
Most people do not realize that OSX for Intel based macs are just the starting point, the springboard into the market of the Intel based Apple systems. All the work that has been done so far will NOT have much bearing into what is coming down the line. It never has. OSX 10.5 is the real and only target as far as the future of hacking for the "beige box" PC/Macs. People are stepping back for awhile. It doesnt mean they are "Dead" or that they have been taken by "Aliens (ha ha-Insert GLIBBNESS)". It makes sense that this occurs, and the protection it also insures for "Silent" development/hacking. If your not around in what is a "moderate quiet development zone" you can not get nailed to wall. OSX 10.5 is where things start from zero. Many, many, many considerations and implementations are being brought into the picture in this release. This is going to carry forward for a long, long time in the codebase which is OSX. This is where things just start getting good under the hood so to speak. Maxxuss is not gone, Maxxuss is just what Maxxuss is. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less. "ever notice when a single cell splits multiple cells, its called a virus?" - Has anyone ever thought to ask if the virus was posing as cell?
