Swad
Maxxuss has disappeared. The sites he once updated with patches and materials are either outdated or offline. He has not visited our forum since March 18th. Letters are left unresponsive. It seems the man who was rapidly building his name as one of our time's most notorious hackers is simply gone. So what happened? There have been several times in the past when he has been dormant or otherwise quiet – in these cases, we haven’t reported on it since it is normal for there to be a lull in the action. Sensationalism is something we try to keep to a minimum. But this is more than an extended vacation. OS X 10.4.6 has come and gone… yet no word from the once-resident OSx86 hacker. Indeed, others have now taken his place in releasing patches for the new builds. There are a few possibilities. It’s conceivable (although somewhat unlikely) that he simply decided to leave the hacking of OS X on PCs to others. He also could have been hired by Apple. Or sued. Or jailed. What’s most surprising is that we have heard nothing in so long. Granted, hiring and arresting are both good reasons to break communications, but the whole situation is somewhat odd. We haven’t even heard anything about his other hacking exploits, like we did when he broke the Skype-Intel collusion. So wither Maxxuss? Who knows. He is a sterling example of a controversial figure – a Robin Hood loved by many and hated by some. While the debate about your work rages on, Maxxuss, here’s hoping this article finds you well. [Digg it!]

iLux
He also could have been hired by Apple. That's what I think (I think that he was an Apple engineer since the begining)

JustK
I also belive that. In my opinion, if Apple doesnt want OSX86 running on PC, it wouldn't run anyway, they have an entire control on the hardware who is meant to run OSX86, they could add all the security they want... But they didn't. Maxxus was only here to launch the process, to give faith to the community. We all know that a lot of OSX 86 on PC users, will switch for an Intel Apple one day or another, Apple know it. That's why they release Boot Camp to break the last frontier, now for users it's just a matter of money. The OSX86 project is the best advertissement for Apple I have seen since : "Think Different !". As a system administrator, this website permit me to earn easily OSX86 skills. Now, I'm not worry anymore about switching our old PC for new Intel Mac. To conclude, my belive is that Maxxus is an Apple ingeneer and he has the agreement of Apple to release all the patch he has done.
Deviant0ne
Maybe he felt like he was making too big of a commotion. Maybe he's been around the entire time... Who knows. I do hope however he returns to the scene, as I'm sure no one really wants to lose one of the founding fathers of this amazing project.
Harry_Callahan
Wherever he is, I hope he's doing OK! This guys a genius, I don't think he has nothing to do with Apple(Apple employee or else).

But they didn't. Yeah, that's why Apple updates keep breaking the patched versions out there, forcing those to create another fix which will be broken by the next update, right? munky
I do not beleive Maxxuss was ever an Apple employee, or that his patches were encouraged by Apple. But I do hope he is safe and well.

johnniecarcinogen
Where did people hear that Maxxuss was an Apple employee? Is that just a random rumour? It is just a conspiracy theory that has been around ever since Maxxuss just popped up with a patch. Some people belive that 'Maxxuss' is actually Apple and they released the patches as part of a viral marketing tactic to get Apple 's OS X into the headlines. And also to let a certain demographic of people 'test drive' OS X that normally would not consider buying a mac. The delayed CSM in the EFI was able to get Apple in the news also 2 months after they were in the news for releasing their first intel macs. Just like the headlines Apple got whenever Maxxuss relesed patches. I guess it could be argued that Apple never intended OSx86 to be mainstream on PC's and thats why they make the updates .
