It doesn't change for anything! I'm running iDeneb 10.5.5

 

Here's what I type in when I boot...

 

mach_kernel  rd=disk0s3 "Graphics Mode"="1440x900x32"

i wouldn't recommand chaning resolution on OS x, last time i tried it and i got kernel panic. U might want to try installing a different video card driver. I got 1024x768 on my first install, but on my second install i tried a different driver and i got 1680x1050 on my same 7900gs card :(
