Well it looks like we will have new iMacs & Mac Minis in March. The rumor sites are abuzz with news, what can I say, no smoke without fire :(

Only question is, 24 March, or sooner?

Looks like the new Mac Mini with nVidia graphics is for real. I would still be surprised if they went with that mini displayport & mini-dvi. Strange combo... But hey, it's Apple! It does take up little space.

As for the iMacs, all we know is apparently the entry level model should come with a 20" display, while the three other models will feature a 24" panel. This & they should support up to 8GB of RAM and 1TB of hard disk space. The rest of the hardware is all speculation. I'm hoping they use Radeon 4000 series in the iMacs, who knows what cpu's? Dual, Quad, Mobile Quad, Core i7?? Here I'm betting on dual cores in the low end with some of those new low-power penryn Quad cores in the higher models.

Well guess we'll find out soon.

Quad or Mobile Quad? I very very much hope so.

Core i7? no. as in "Hell no, dawg". Ain't gonna happen (*makes preparations to possibly eat foot on or before March 24*)

I REALLY REALLY *really* hope that we shall see a new mac mini.

I am dead serious when I say this: I WILL shed tears if they drop the mac mini.

It makes sense, the timing i mean... iPods -> Laptops -> Laptops mark 2 -> Desktops (uhh... never mind ...jk)

I am SO excited.

"Eeeeeeeee!" - me seeing the first rumor of a March 24 release

It is possible that we may see Xeons in the iMac, and Core i7 in the Mac Pro.....

I hope this is it, the "big date". I have been holding off, not wanting to buy one with the new iMacs coming out. Honestly, the difference won't be immense, but it'll probably be well worth the wait. I need 4GBs of ram anyway, with up to 8GB capabilities? That'll work for me ;)

US Store back up.

New mini's, iMac's and Mac Pro's

They got Nehalem Xeon's in the Mac Pro.

i7 has truly and officially came to the Mac OS.

Wonder if we are going to see 10.5.7 real soon to conicide with the new hardware?

To me this is "just" a refresh, not the big deal - ask yourself this: Where are the new innovative products? And again, I am talking about the iMac's and Mac mini's here. Not the Mac Pro!

Q&A: Who produced the new boxes and manuals? Which company delivered the new hardware to countries like The Netherlands? If you know this, then you know what to expect and thus I am not buying new hardware right now (I want the Quad core iMac's for my children, not this old stuff).

True, but this thread is about the new iMac's and Mac mini's isn't it?

When the thread was started, rumors hadn't started making the rounds about the Mac Pro's being updated today.

I don't think anyone thought they would be updated for a while still.

Well, there have been several clues 'suggesting' that a new Mac Pro is in the make - after all... they won't develop new kext's for nothing. There's even a thread about the new processors. But whatever.

IMHO: This refresh ain't that spectacular, so we'll wait for Mr. Jobs to make us more than happy, later this year that is.

Has anyone here noticed that the prices went up again? I mean like 100 euro for the cheapest iMac in The Netherlands and 200 pounds in the UK store!

Apple raising prices? Well I never!

On top of that the iMac doesn't have better graphics (without paying for an upgrade) and the standard graphics on the Mac Pro are actually SLOWER.

IMac 9400m ??! does that play WOW?

my son , plays wow,... and don't think the 9400m is going to do that ,....

no upgradable graphics card ?! and 1680 on the 20",...

so bacially , they pushing the 24",... what is to expensive, when you consider,

you already have a pc with an LCD ,... and the mac mini won't cut it for that,...

and the mac pro, is to expensive for an family desktop, for games too,...

now the mac mini, is a wellcome update, still $600,... should have been under $500,

yeah ilife for starters is nice,... but at $600+,... hmm,

mediabox,... the mac mini, if it can do 1080p over the displayport, unless the fiasco continous,

with DHCP,... it could replace the appletv for that, definitly like to see bluray support for the graphics card, until then even a xbos360 looks good, for mediacenter

as I recall the 24" had a better lcd, for color ,.... still glossy and litle biggy for me, can't dock an macbook to the imac, to use the display, and people do tend to buy more laptops/notebooks/netbooks, then desktops,

so when finally the desktop aka imac comes to home, and you even get the 24" screen, can't plug in your dell laptop to watch bluray, can't even watch bluray on its own, bah,

mac mini, no esata port, argh, and no expresscard slot,

now if it had and expresscard slot, you could plug in a 2 port esata card, and with a port multiplier, attach a couple of disks, run it as a media server, and fileserver, use the laptop, and have booth plugged in a 40" hdtv, but no,

you got to run everything over usb or firewire, also the mini should have had an HDMI port, keep the displayport, but add an hdmi port

EPEAT GOLD, a new one, while it's a sleep ?

LCD monitor,.... ok some one , gets an mini,... and looks at the LCD monitors,.... hey another $900 for that good lookin 24",...... guess, they don't want you to buy and LCD with that,...

airport extreme,.... one more,.... got one, you want apple, need 2,... the itouch and iphone does not do 5ghz,

and for the laptops, you do want 5ghz draft N,... so you need to, or dig out your old linksys

so big hurray for the mac mini , -$100, + hdmi, + esata or expresscard slot, would have been almost perfect.

Well it looks like my Mac Mini savings account will be used for other things  not happy with the new MM. First they jacked the price up  I was hoping for a price drop. Second the upgrades are not enough to justify spending a $1000 on when I can build a quad core hackintosh for 2/3 of the price and have more power and more upgrade path in the future. Sorry Apple I love your OS but your hardware pricing sucks.

The price is the same as the old one. Rather upgrade it yourself than pay for Apple upgrades.

Or get a hack, yeah.

Ok, Apple is not selling their new machines for the price of a cheap hackintosh - who realy thought they would?

But what to make of this view: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/09/03...ion_report.html

Fair?

AppleInsider.

I think that answers the question.

The prices here in Canada did increase the low end one went up about $75 and the other went up about $100

I've decided to buy the low end model and do the upgrades myself but I'm a bit confused about graphics. Given the graphics uses system RAM how is it one states 128mb the other 256mb or did they add separate RAM for graphics.
