allan casal
Thank you, this works with my 3-yr old rig. Kalyway 10.5.1 updated with Kalyway 10.5.2 (no vanilla) - the kext that came with the distro doesnt work, left channel only. P4 2.8GHZ MSI P4MAM-V mobo Nvidia GeForce FX5500 VIA AC97 VT8235 2GB RAM For those of you who would like to skip the commands in terminal, you can do it the super easy way: 1. Download : AppleAC97Audio.zip from the first page of this topic and extract the .kext 2. Google search: "OSX86tools" and download - this is a great tool created by PCWiz 3. Install : OSX86tools to your applications folder. Run and choose install kext. 4. Change : Utilities> Audio MIDI Setup> Audio Output from: 41000hz to 48000hz 5. Enjoy : listening to stereo! Of course dont forget to backup the original .kext before replacing.

jonfosse
Here's a new AppleAC97AudioVIA.kext so you can get stereo out of a VIA 8237R + ALC655 (I don't think the codec part matters as much as the controller) Should work with any VIA 82xx chipset. Hooray! And this actually works. (10.5.2 on AMD 4200+, realtek AC97) Finally Stereo! my setup nears completion now. thanx J
