Beire
sound is working great on my asus K8V se deluxe onboard soundcard. The only little drawback is that my sound is still coming from the line-in jack. Quite annoying while dual booting windows, as i have to constantly switch between jacks upon changing os. Any fix for this ? Didn't find any using search though.

SuperCed
I don't know how to make my 8237 audio work. I just have left channel and it is said that output is not supported in the audio/midi setup application. Is there a way to make it work? I have a K8V-VM mobo. Can someone send me the lastest source of AppleAC97Audio.kext? I will try to do something with that. But I don't want the old darwin version because it's complicated to update to new XCode version. If someone have an updated version of sources, I am interested in. Tx!

SuperCed
It seems to work for stereo and the sound is quite bad. I think the rate is not good. It can be 48KHz instead of 44.1. I cannot change this in the MIDI/audio setup application because it is said that output is not supported... If someone has sources, can he give them to me, I 'll try to change default configuration to 44.1KHz. Then, the best will be to have a good access from userland to the driver throught good user client, but I 'll try to fix this later. EDIT : Now I am sure this is a 48KHz instead of 44.1 because songs or during less time than it must play in iTunes. So, is there a way to change rate from 48 to 44? Tx. thecrackerjack
First i'd like to say thanks to all the helpful persons involved in these hackintosh projects. I grew up on mac from Mac CI all the way up to mac book pro now. my Hackintosh seems to boot faster and load applications faster oddly. But down to business. according to MSI i have this on my P4MAM2-V motherboard AC'97 link controller integrated in VIA® VT8237 • VIA VT1617A 6-channel S/W audio codec. - Compliance with AC'97 v2.3 spec. - Meets PC2001 audio performance requirement. First i installed Jas 10.4.8, the audio was horrible and only the left channel. I attmpted some other Audio kext files on here, now no sound at all. I have attempted the file on top of here and now no audio still. I am going to attempt a fresh install again then apply the audio kext above right from the start. Does anyone have the same P4MAM2-V motherboard that could help me out?
leo333
THX sooo much!!!! Audio is workin now stereo and excellent Quality! Only one thing: E.g. when you play the first song after you opened iTunes it crackles for about 3secs and then it plays the song, all other songs work fine! Also it doesn´t seem to like multiple inputs, always when e.g. you have a system sound it gets choppy... Anyway, great work, i hope Garageband, when i get it is not affected by this multiple inputs problem! PS: After replacing the whole kext no sound, but i dug out the old Jas 10.4.8 one outa my Trash, replaced the AppleAC97AudioVIA.kext only and then it worked fine! marctech
Dude! you rock! that did the trick. I was going nuts with the fast playback. Thanks much Marc FIX IT ! Yes. This driver is 100% working for Stereo Output only. Input Not tested. 5.1 and 6 channel not available. Stereo Only. The fix for the first few seconds studdering/too high pitched is: Audio Midi Setup app in utilities Change the "properties For" dropdown to the second instance of AC97 Audio (PCM) (there are two of them) Then on the bottom right change the Format to 48000.0 Hz Playback is sweet now. This may already be posted somewhere. But I didnt find it. And I just happened upon this fix, so I am posting it. enjoy eric
Gujal
Thanks a lot fellas, My motherboard is ABIT VT7 with 8237 CHipset + Realtek Audio Codec. Had crackling mono audio initially, and after installing the patched driver and changing output to 48000, it works like a charm. Great work guys
jeff templer
Copy and paste the new file to /System/Library/Extensions/. Choose authenticate in the dialog and enter your password. Replace the file. Then open Terminal and type: sudo -s (enter your password) cd /System/Library/Extensions rm Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache (no problem if one or both files don't exist) chown -R root:wheel *.kext kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions (exit terminal) Applications > Disk Utility > select your volume and repair permissions Quit and reboot. That's exactly what i did and it worked like a charm. thatnks this worked with my ECS P4M800Pro with VIA® P4M800Pro & VT8237R+ chipset
tatsumasadf
Here's a new AppleAC97AudioVIA.kext so you can get stereo out of a VIA 8237R + ALC655 (I don't think the codec part matters as much as the controller) Should work with any VIA 82xx chipset. Hooray! this is gonna sound really stupid but how do i install this.
grinsystem
you unzip the file, then you place it in the folder /System/Library/Extensions Best way to do that is in the terminal, assuming you placed this file on your desktop...Replace YOURUSERNAME with...your account name. cd /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop sudo cp AppleAC97Audio.kext /System/Library/Extensions It will as you for your administrators password, if you just created one user, it would be that password. Now you could just move it...but oh well. you got it where the file needs to be. Your next steps is to follow the post above yours. All set go go!
