Regards open your eyes follow the link in his signature. btw. just a page and two before this we were posting long and detailed just about this. It is possible. From what I've seen so far everybody with gma950 and core duo or core solo has no problems. same for nvidia. However if you have gma950 and a core2duo you may end up like myself and only get 1024x768. also, I suggest you put your hardware into your signature. It is really really hard to keep up with everybody and remember which OS release or kexts you have/need. We can't read your mind (yet) Hey: thanks for the help noob. I installed the kext with osx86 tools, repaired permissions, and restarted with no luck. Still have artifacts, and still stuck in 1024x768 (**barfs**) Plan B? Thanks! I have seen a number of people here that switched from ati 1400 to nvidia 7300 because of all the trouble. I tried myself just to find out that gma950 is onboard . You can find the card for 25-40 on ebay and it's not too difficult to change it.

Have you've tried manually remaking the mkext yourself using: kextcache -v 1 -t -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions or use the Mkext tool? I'm not sure if it's compatible with SL but you can try it out. Still not giving up. ~jon111122223333

I can boot fine without the mkext too, no difference - fascinating. I already learned to hate my gma950 back in leopard, so really nothing new here edit2: I even installed old Leopard drivers that worked on Leopard. I can throw a kitchen sink at it, it still just boots with no kext loaded. It doesn't matter whether I am doing it with -arch=i386 -x32 or not. It just doesn't want to see the gma950. Giving up for a while now until somebody finds a fix. Beyond me for now.
