@ auqs10

what about power management? does it work for you? I don't see any battery meter on you screenshots.

did you try? Because I have almost everything working except power management, intel wifi and 1280x800 screen res for my dell inspiron 6400 with ati x1400, and xbench result is "112" and "154" (without disk). osx kalyway leopard 10.5.2 with vanilla kernel

Unfortunately none of the solutions proposed have worked.

Hello guys

1st post here, been reading stuff since I joined,

I have the exact same issue as

Second issue is booting with both cores turned on. It only appears to boot about once every 20 attempts with both cores. The rest of the times results in a single floating point exception during the boot sequence (SIGFPE error)

.

I have installed kalyway like 7/8 times so far here are my comp specs almost the same as Rogabean

e1705

C2D 7200; 2gig ram 667mhz;7900gs (oced 550+ core :help: ) sigmatel 9200 (not working till now coz I random make restarts); 160gig 5400 sata, now I have the first partition as A NTFS windows partition, I have darwin bootloader that works perfectly, I have tried pretty much every config with kalyway dvd, I have no issues with video, sound I havent been able to check only bcoz I cant restart the machine every time, the sleep trick works perfect for me, my system seems to like vanilla installs better as comapred to sse2, I have wireless working otb.

So any help here is appericiated, I had bucket full of issues trying to get a working cd - got ebio errors with 1st disk, tried vmware and then finally got a disc right by burning at 2x , anyway so as stated I rarely boot back into the OS , I was thinking I was doing a mistake in installations and hence had abt 7/8 of them so far, nyway I have one more guys who has the same issues, so it seems this a problem with the files.

Wow, thanks for this guide! I'm debating giving this a shot, but am curious about a few things.

I've got an Core 2 Duo E1505.

1) In 10.5, does the ATI X1400 have full resolution options available? Or is the problem from 10.4 (detailed in the guide) still persist in 10.5?

2) Do the little volume keys at the front of the machine function?

3) I've got 2 GB of ram in my machine. Is Parallels an option for me to run a few of the Windows apps I still need to use?

Thanks!

You don't need this step at all.

Well maybe he has found a way for us gma 950 users to sleep and initialize both cores because previously we could only get a black screen after sleep. I have no way to try this for a few weeks since I'm away from the hackintosh but I'm curious to hear others experiences?

Hi,

I will buy a new Dell Inspiron, so can you please tell me if this is the right hardware to do this tutorial.

Inspiron 1520:

Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core CPU T2330 (1,60 GHz, 533-MHz-FSB, 1 MB L2-Cache)

nVIDIA® GeForceTM Go 8400M GS with 128MB DDR2

Thanks.

hmm, interesting, will try this tonight and report back here.

edit1:

wow, thought I got it. it turns into a doslike screen with black background and green arrows pointing to the right. a couple lines then nothing and more lines. Maybe I have the wrong sleep mode for this. still fiddling with it.

edit2:

still shows the dos-like screen with triangles on first and third part of screen. no matter how I change sleep mode. I have tried mode 0 1 and 3. when I close the lid it just stays black, just like before. seems to have little effect. Promising?

edit3: set it to default sleep mode 3 for now. when I set display sleep to 2min and close the lid it shows power light constant. when I open the lid there is no response and it's off. when I press the power button or anything else nothing happens (hdd response though). Now, when I wait 2minutes and the monitor falls asleep as set in the energy saver settings and press the power button, it wakes up with "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now? Restart, sleep, cancel, shut down". when I cancel I get my screen back - wow.

wasn't there a mouse trick to force the monitor to sleep? This would work to wake it up from sleep mode 3.

Cool, not sure if this may actually work without the hdd password setting in bios. Ok, checked this and it doesn't matter whether I have this on or off - same behavior as stated.

one step further. will play some more with it

edit3: system preferences/expose&spaces/ set one corner to activate sleep for monitor. works. what concerns me is that the power light is lit constant. I will try other sleep modes to get this to flash on/off as it should do when in real sleep mode.

ok, sleep mode has no effect. when I close the lid I can wake it up as above. However the notebook doesn't seem to be in entire sleep mode (power light on constant). when I go apple menu and sleep, the notebook goes to sleep and I get the power light slowly flashing as it should. When I try to wake it up I get the dos-like screen described above. so close....Btw. all of this has no effect on mouse tearing, which is still present.

Sorry if I am stating the obvious here.

dual core doesn't work with this just as before. kernel panics. every few times I may get into the os, but it's stuttering like crazy, unusable. My Bios is too old I'm afraid.

Question: does this need vanilla AppleACPIPlatform.kext and PowerManagement.bundle maybe?

I just got iATKOS working. I had Uphuck 10.4.9 running before, and I had the sound working via applehdapatcher. I can't get it working under leopard. I used applehdapatcher which said it worked fine, but after rebooting, no sound. I can control the volume with the buttons on the front and I see the sound icon on the bar next to the date/time. In the sound preferences pane, I see HD Audio Output but in the sound effects part of it, it's grayed out. I also tried the Dell ALCInject and AppleHDA that were posted here, same problem. Any ideas?

I have a dell inspiron 6400 and as i install the taruga patch for sigmatel 92xx on my laptop i get kernel panic when i shut down on battery and have to press the power button to shut down.

Any suggestion? I have kalyway 10.5.1 with vanilla kernel efi mbr. It's very strange because it does it only when i shut down in battery not when ac is plugged. There are many different text on the site.

Is there someone who could upload the right 9200 dump file for my dell inspiron 6400

Thanx for the help.

Thanx auqs10, tried your dump with taruga patcher1.20 and audio works (no mic in) but the shut down problem is still there, by the way I used the iaktos appleacpiplatform.kext and the powermanagement.bundle and guess what, i have the battery meter showing but if i upgrade to 10.5.2 the battery disappears, so i'm forced to use my kalyway 10.5.1 with the old vanilla kernel.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 running 10.5.2.

My network card seems to be working fine because I can use it to connect to the Internet. But, when I use an ethernet cable to connect my laptop to another laptop running Windows XP, both computers behave as if there's no connection at all.

Mac OS X Network Diagnostics shows that there is nothing connected to ethernet, and Windows XP on the other computer says the same thing (Local Area Connection disconnected).

However, when I use Windows on my laptop to connect to the other laptop, it works like it should. I have no idea what to do, and I desperately need to get this working as part of my project.

Please help me out.

Also, another unrelated issue....Leopard takes a long time to shut down after upgrading to 10.5.2. Earlier, it used to shut down in an instant....not anymore.

thank you very much for this tutorial, as back in the day it got me up and running on 10.4.8...

however, I seem to have a problem now when I tried to isntall Leo.

I keep getting a flashing curser after the install completes and it will not boot into the OS. I have made sure that the partition is set to boot and I am using the MBR option. I am not dualbooting.

Could anyone offer me some assistance? Thanks!

PS- I was able to get into the OS if installed the darwin bootloader, only if the macos install disc was left in the drive. So frusterating! I am now trying EFI but with no luck.

Are you using iATKOS? I had the same problem with 1.0ir2. It wasn't installing the bootloader. If this is the case, try 1.0i (the first release). Make sure you run darwin_boot in the utilities menu after using disk utility, and pay attention to the number you're inputting for you hard drive number. Good luck!Any help with sleep on iATKOS 10.5.1? I installed the new powermanagement.bundle and appleacpiplatrform, and did sudo pmset blah blah and restarted, and same problem: It goes to sleep, kind of (bluetooth and power light stay on), and won't wake up, I have to shut it down by holding the power button and then turn it back on.

iATKOS is notorious for not being able to apply the bootloader properly. In my case the only way to correct it was to boot an XP CD, drop to a recovery command prompt, and run a FIXMBR.

There is that unofficial "1.0r3" release that supposedly cleans up the problems with the bootloader, but I haven't tried it.

Hmmm...very interesting and a step closer indeed! I have no idea to your above question but when I'm back home in a couple weeks time I will do some testing as well and see where we can get!

Until then, keep us posted on anything you find out!
