sonotone
Does display sleep work with Go 7900GS? It doesn't work anymore, even with nvinject 0.20.
devilhood
Then it must be an NVCAP specific issue, or something relating to the card's power management. You can re-initialize the display by making the laptop sleep and waking it up though.
cosmo1t
I've never had display sleep work.. I just upgraded a tiger 10.4.11 vanilla to ioATKAS. I had to deal with logins not working, mach_init.d issues, etc.. I finally have the system booting, only thing left is to wack that azilla.kext for audio. Sleep, shutdown, work fine. I dont' think there are any roots built for darwinbuild, so getting a working powermanagement will not be so pleasurable, but it could be a possibility. Does anyone have an acpi dump from linux for the E1705 so we can get a patched kernel?
kiroshome
Is it safe to update to 10.4.11 via Software Update or will it ruin my install? I try it one time and it destroy my install, if you have other reply, tell me
sj1069
I am using Brazilmac patched 10.5, PCEFI v8 and original kernel. Natit from the brazilmac postpatch folder. Sleep works for me. I am having 7900GS. Something else. Before sleep and wake up, the wifi indicator (green light) is dimmed, while after a sleep-wakeup, it is as normal as is in windows. After sleep and wake up, the earphone jack does not work, even though it will mute the subwoofer, but no sound is actually coming out of it. sonotone
Sleep does not work Now it seem's to work with Kalyway's 10.5.1 Dvd. Just try it.
Ice Man
yeah i read about that but i really don't feel like wiping my harddrive clean to install the kallaway version, plus that version has a yucky orange theme (no offence to the creators, they did a great job but its not my taste) is there any way to get sleep to work with my current setup? thank you in advance
devilhood
Sleep has only ever had a problem with my laptop if my install has been borked. With Tiger, I needed to do the terminal command to enable sleep to work properly, but on Leopard, it worked first time
S.SubZero
Sigmatel 9200 Sound card (working, no mute and speakers don't turn off when headphones plugged in) There's a fix in the first post that may help, but it's intended for the 9400/E1705 with subwoofer. It does fix the mute problem though. Broadcom x440 NIC (working) Did you need anything special for this? In iATKOS is a specific option for a driver for this, which I chose, and while the NIC works it will sometimes just fall off the network forcing me to reboot. I didn't know if there was another option I can try. Power management (Not working, since sleep does not work i'm holding back on this) While I don't need power management since my laptop is pretty much always on AC power, I also can't get sleep working right. It will sleep, but then I'm unable to recover and have to turn it off completely. I wouldn't care really, except I want to try out the forced sleep mode to get the second core working. I'm also on vanilla kernel.
Ice Man
to get my NIC working i used the IOnetworking kext from 10.4.8 if i remember correctly i haven't used it for a prolonged period of time so i can't say if there are any problems, i use the wireless link all the time. thing is if i can get sleep to work then i'll prolly migrate to the mac os, btw my initial install was from the leopard flat image, did it through windows by using dd
sonotone
anyone have this issue?: i tried to instal kalyway 10.5.1 on my laptop, but it boot only with cpus=1 i used mrb partition table ( to get a dual boot with xp), and choose vanilla kernel with efi mbr bootloader. My leopard install on external usb Hd boot perfectly with both core (using GUID). I don't understand.
S.SubZero
anyone have this issue?: i tried to instal kalyway 10.5.1 on my laptop, but it boot only with cpus=1 It is mentioned many, many times in this thread, including detailed info on the first post. There is no permanent fix for it. If Sleep works you can force sleep and wake it up and that may fix the problem for that boot. I don't have any other info since not only does my sleep not work, but I can't even get the thing to really boot with both cores active so I couldn't sleep it if I wanted to. It was not my question: i was not talking about shuttering issues, but Osx simply don't wanna boot (restart again and again) without cpus=1 command. EDIT: I fix this issue using cpus=3 (??!!). Both core are running at startup
Chrysaor
This works. Running with dual cores on Leopard, have to sleep quickly (lid sleep doesn't work, but dockables work nicely).

I bet it wont help our situation EDIT: Yep, no cigar, cpus=3 does not act any differently than cpus=2, cpus=4 or anything else.
Ice Man
i've even tried booting with the Toh kernel and the original kernel that came with my leopard installation, i can't get sleep to work with either of them, i also installed nvinjectgo but that did not make any difference either. when i hit the standby button, my display and hdd turn off but the vga fan remains on and i can't wake the system so i have to do a fully power down my machine and boot it again. anyone knows how to fix this? i'd really appreciate it. Ice Man
tried that command but no success, even tried booting with the toh kernel after executing that command and still no effect, if i remember correctly sleep had something to with one of the ACPI kexts, if someone knows what exactly it is i'd really appreciate it. yozh
I wonder why closing the lid doesnt work, but when you open the lid it works, why doesnt it recognize that the lid has been closed ? Also why doesnt it sleep when system puts it to sleep, like after screensaver time out using energy saving ?
Chrysaor
For those who can't get sleep working with iAtkos, you have to use a different AppleSMBIOS, iAtkos comes with an old version SMBIOS. I used Paulicat's Leopard SMBIOS and sleep works very well. I don't have the stock Apple SMBIOS, didn't had a chance to test with it.
devilhood
I'm not using the stock one either. iGuru made a modded one specifically for his laptop that has the same setup as ours, so I'm just using that one. It even shows the RAM correctly as DDR2, along with the Dell Boot ROM. I'm unsure if he has made it public, so I will ask him later on if it is ok for me to attach it to this thread.
