Ok so here's what I did:
  1. Downloaded V3 EFI
  2. Installed it per the Readme file included
  3. Continued with the instructions, and replaced the AppleSMBIOS.kext extension
  4. repaired permissions
  5. restarted
  6. and booted OSx86 ToH without cpus=1
  7. and it worked!
  8. No more need for cpus=1

Anything else, just ask.

Is this for Leo or 4.10 ?

good news for the dual core issue! I have the identical setup as juan luis, but it will take me some time to get ahold of the new version as I'm running 10.4.9 now!

And I think Juan luis means in his signature that he has a core duo but he's running (was) core solo

Juan Luis, will you show us a screen shot of your system profiler (about this mac) so we can see the core duo (not that I don't believe you but just to satisfy the others)?

I've got the same config on my Dell 6400 and have tried all the noted configurations w netkas v3 efi as well as several AppleSMBIOS.kexts including netkas's, ToH, 10.4.9, "vanilla" Apple, etc, ... In general Leopard has always booted on 10.5 with both cores working, but still stuttering ... just not as much as 10.4.x.

Is it a "I can live with this" amount of stuttering or does it make the computer still pretty unuseable?

Guys,

I'm persuaded thet we have to find, in first, how to manage to get out of sleep mode. The solution is close to us. I explaind myself: few weeks ago, i've installed kalyway leopard beta disk. I've changed few kexts, install somes programs...usual procedure. But one day, i accidently turn computer in sleep mode, but it goes out perfectly, and bothcore too (not booted in cpus=1). After another reinstall, nothing. i've tried to find witch kext was "incrimined", but no succes.

So, this sleep out was not generate by kernel update or efi install, i'm sure it's provide by a specific kext (or part-of), but unfortunalty, i'm not able to find witch one at the moment.

I used the IONetworkingFamily.kext for Broadcom 440x provided in this guide but I got these errors.

System extension cannot be used.

The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try installing it, or contact the product's vendor for an update.

I also can't seem to be able to get the wireless to work (3945ABG). The wifi light is off and I can't seem to switch it on either. I am running 10.4.10(Inspiron 9400). Someone please help? I'm new to this.

Thanks

3945ABG is not working with OSX, never has and probably never will. The only thing you can do is go to ebay and buy another one for abut 15 USD (see my SIG for model name). That one works out of the box.

Well you have developers working on making the 3945 work on this forum, so maybe soon it will work, but very easy to get a new card very cheap and get it working in 2 minutes :boxing:

^^^^^

Did you go into The disk utility and fix your permissions? I usually get that error if the permissions on the file are incorrect.

Oh. Ok. How do I do that? Thanks for the help.

Damn. Thanks for the reply anyway.

I'm crossing my fingers. After all, free is still better than cheap. ^_^

I quite agree with you.

I have installed Brazilmac patched leopard, and was able to get shut down function correctly after using appleHDAPatcher v1.1.7, but no sound.

However, if I use the patched 10.4.8 AppleHDA.kext to replace the new one, I can get sound and subwoofer working, but the shutdown function will not go correctly. It just blacks out the screen, and never really shut down.

So I think the shut down, sleep, and other things might really related with the kexts.

Hi all, I know that this was probablly asked a million times and I know many of u r tried of n00bs disrupting the thread, but am getting lost in so many threads with 50+ pages and cant really find an answer...

I have an Dell Inspiron 1520

I have dual booted before osx10.4.8 Jas/xp on IBM R50 (sse2)

Is there any chance Leopard runs on vmare or ms virtual machine? if not,

Can I dual boot Leopard & vista?

What is the name of the release (Jas, uphuck, TOH)???? I'm not asking a link, ill search for it.

Is there a guide somewhere?

Ill deal with the mouse and visual stuttering later, just boot it first.

I have acronis dd and os selector. will download anything else

I would really appreciate if some1 would help me or point me in the right direction. Pleeeeeaaasssseeee

No, Leopard cannot run on virtual machines unless it is a server edition.

The names of Leopard DVD are

1. ToH patched DVD (with less drivers, but cooperate better with EFI bootloader)

2. Brazilmac patched DVD (with more drivers, but might not be working with the EFI bootloader)

Google the name, and you will get torrents.

If you do not have a core dual on a dell laptop, I don't think you will have a stuttering problem, though.

Hi,

One more step about black screen after sleep.

Today, i manage to get work "sleep out" on my 9400 with Leopard (Kalyway's beta 9a527). But it's only a step, because i get a very unstable machine after that. So we need more testers...

What i done before it work:

-install kalyway leopard beta

-insatll natit 0.1 drivers

-apply applehdapatcher 1.16

-install efi v5 and remove AppleEFIRuntime.kext

-reboot

-change kernel by this one: http://rapidshare.com/files/67410858/SpeedStep.zip (copy also AppleSMBIOS.kext and ACPICPUThrottle.kext)

-fix permissions and reboot

-download vanilla's kernel: [removed, see rules:ok sorry]

-install it and kexts (but not AppleIntelCPUManagement.kext and also remove old one)

-fix permissions and reboot.

And... sleep out works only after last step. Still graphical shuttering during boot, but fixed after sleep mode. running sleep with cpus=1 cause graphicals bugs (fixed after log out)

But system is now unstable:

-keyboard don't work (external can)

-system profiler crash (even using appleSMBIOS from efi package)

-Many programs don't run (almost all of them)

-sometimes, finder restart itself.

-In verbose mode, there are these message error:

failed to load extension com.apple.SystemIntegrity

failed to load extension com.apple.driver.DiskImages

Maybe some crashes are connected with this specific realease (Beta release), that's why if people are interresting to test that procedure (especially vanilla's kernel and associated kexts) on Toh and Brazilmac releases, it will be good to see what's happening.

(If you have any succes, please detail step by step.)

Intresting I will try this on my 1505. Thanks
