Err, if i install leopard from the brazilmac patched iso, what will i have to od to get native resolution on x1400 (1440x900)

Depends on your video card.

if it is nvidia 7900gs, it should be working out of box.

for ati, try nattit

Maybe I'm just stupid, but the instructions in this thread just made my setup even worse. Now, I have a buggier display, and when I tried to get my ethernet working, it messed up my wireless.

At least I now know what not to do.

Hey, just a heads up. With the ToH Leopard DVD, and the new EFI boot loader, you can run with two cores! No need any longer to set cpus=1 at startup! Yay!!!

Just a stupid question here ... is the EFI boot loader integrated in the Leo DVD or is something you have to install separately and if the EFI is working for the dual core problem

why not for the rest of the hardware in Tiger X86 like in the screenshot in the Netkas blog ?! Or i misunderstand something here :dev: ?

Because i found something i don't fully understand .... http://refit.sourceforge.net/

I have a 6400 as well with core duo. if I enable both cores I get kernel panic and pc reboots, no go. tell me how you got it to work. replaced any important kexts that I'm missing maybe?

I maybe further away from the goal than that anyway. when I change the kernel with the stock one, I cannot get passed a black screen, even after putting dsmos.kext into extensions.

well, at least the efi emulator seems to work for now.

thanks

for those using brazilmac's dvd, you need to replace the applehda.kext manually after using the 1.17 appleHDApatcher with the kext you may find in this thread. then repair permissions. then you have mic, subwoofer, and internal speaker. no mute though.

I just picked up the e1705/9400. Do you have one core disabled because of the stuttering?
Yes, I am currently disabling one core to avoid stuttering.

Will the EFI bootloader work with Brazilmac patched DVD? Thanks

The SMBIOS that came with the EFI package ?

Yes, with it. On my system, sleep doesn't work, but i didn't tryed with an official kernel.

I used V3 of the EFI emulator on a clean ToH Leopard install, and just replaced the SMBIOS.kext extension. Hope this helps!

Please Juan Luis, be more clear: both cores are working with your leopard's install? After boot? After sleep mode?

Thx.

I tried as per the instructions here, but it just gives me a shutdown (4 languages) screen right after the bootloader.

thanks.

2. did you do a clean install or an upgrade

3. did you make any post setup patches

4. where to get the smbios file to replace

4. where did you get the efi loader and how does it work?

PLEASE TELL US WHAT YOU DID! I got the same setup as you and i need your help, pleaaaasee :)

I tried using this EFI bootloader, v4 on the Brazilmac patched dvd.

The EFI bootloader successfully replaced the Darwin bootloader.

Other than that, nothing happens.

After replacing the kernel with apple original one, the computer stops at a grey screen with apple logo, no nothing at all.

For those who want to try the bootloader v4, you may follow follow the thread here:

http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?...p;sk=t&sd=a

You may find the bootloader v4 and the apple original kernel inside the post.

Ok I tried the EFI with clean kernel and ToH speedstep kernel and vanilla kernel doesnt work at all! and ToH speedstep kernel still no dual core or sleep. Basicly EFI doesnt make any diffrence here. Still need that sleep !

Ok so here's what I did:

  1. Downloaded V3 EFI
  2. Installed it per the Readme file included
  3. Continued with the instructions, and replaced the AppleSMBIOS.kext extension
  4. repaired permissions
  5. restarted
  6. and booted OSx86 ToH without cpus=1
  7. and it worked!
  8. No more need for cpus=1

Anything else, just ask.
