Having trouble with my sound. I used the latest patcher from this thead and loaded in the Sigmatel9200.txt (http://psykopat.free.fr/apple/AppleHDA/sigmatel/Sigmatel9200.txt). I have semi-functional sound now on my 10.4.9 Uphuck (intel) OSX86 system. I can hear sounds, I can even playback music from Logic Pro 8.. But, it's really choppy. Wether I play 1 track or 8 tracks in logic my audio is garbled and stutters.

On the psykopat website, there are llike 15 different text files for Sigmatel9200.. Which one am I supposed to use? Why are there 10 copies of it with -a, -b, -c, -d, -etc suffixes? I have an E1405 (core duo, not 2) laptop with the upgraded sound card (Integrated Sound Blaster® Audigy® ADVANCED HD Audio), is this still the Sigmatel chipset or am I going down the wrong path here?

Also, once you've patched with this, can you throw in another .txt and try some others? Do I have to reinstall to try another?

Thanks gang.

It's still the same sound card, only with different software.

If you had read through this thread, you'd realise that there are different codec dumps depending on the Subsystem Id of your onboard sound.

For example, the Sigmatel9200.txt contains the same Id information as mine:

Codec: SigmaTel STAC9200

Address: 0

Vendor Id: 0x83847690

Subsystem Id: 0x102801cd

Revision Id: 0x102201

You can view related information via Device Manager or software like Lavalys Everest to find out your Id.

You should just go ahead and try tbcarey's previously modified kext's with the mute button info.plist fix for 10.4.9.

Make sure your audio settings are at 44.1KHz 16-bit to minimize problems.

Indeed! West London here...  what about you?  :D

I am going to try to release two more versions of the previous patched AppleHDA.kext: one for people who still want to use the headphone jack (muting will not work) and one for those who don't have a subwoofer.

Still not certain about a 10.4.9 release, as during my testing I noted that quite a bit has changed in AppleHDA with 10.4.10 and subsequent July update, and it'd require a lot of work to ensure the old version works in the same manner. Sorry.  :D

Here's to hoping Apple releases the 10.4.10 Darwin source code soon... and perhaps even includes the source for AppleHDA, if we're extremely lucky!

-T.

SE London/Essex here, though according to Google Earth I am NE London :P

I wouldn't worry about releasing a 10.4.9 version, 10.4.10 Darwin source is right round the corner! Haha, I doubt AppleHDA source will be released, though that would be very useful.

Now I'm in my new Mac Dell XPS M1330.

no Wireless (3945ABG)

no Ethernet (Broadcom 59xx)

no QE/CI (Nvidia 8400M GS) but really fast anyway in VESA mode even accept 1280x800 resolution.

Sound only thru headphones

Webcam Works without special driver

Bluetooth works

Card reader not recognized

I have wireless with an USB adapter BTW.

But the great thing is that both cores work without probs, no cpus=1 or idlehalt, no stuttering at all.

Heh, that is pretty cool. I've got my hands on a Dell Inspiron 1520 which I am installing stuff on for a friend; you should just pick up a Dell 1500 Wireless card from eBay and take out the 3945ABG, but if the wireless via USB is fine then yeah, no real worry there.

I probably wont be getting a new laptop until there are proper working GeForce 8400/8600 drivers, or at the very least, until Quad(+) Core becomes the norm for mobile platforms.

I figured out I have the 0x102801d8 Subsystem and patched with the stac9200-e.txt. Same problems. Massive stuttering in Logic and iTunes. I will admit it's better, but still unlistenable.

I also tried the above Info.plist mod and have no change in results. Not sure what to try next..

What Kernel version are you using?

I suppose you could always try the 10.4.10 upgrade for the sake of the new AppleHDA patch that tbcarey made.

anyone got the two cores working? I got depressed and left, I just come back from time to time but can't beleive that hasn't been cracked!

thks

I have already posted many times regarding this, please read through the thread!

Two cores work when you Sleep/Wake the system as written on the guide.

Newer Dell laptops i.e. the 1520/1720+ range do not experience the stutter.

As has been posted many times, the sleep/wake trick does not work on GMA950 Dells.

I'm usuing a dell e1505 with an X1400 mobility and pretty much have everything working well, however i'm still getting mouse glitches when QE is enabled and cannot get my resolution to go past 1152x864 even tho i specify 1440x900 in the com.apple.boot.plist. I know this is my native resolution as well because that is what it is in windows.

currently i'm running 10.4.10 and an 8.10.1 kernel.

any suggestions?

edit: fixed a type for the kernel version

Is there anybody who updated his uphuck 1.4 r3 DVD to the version 10.4.10?

What package did you use, where can i get it. How did you install, which options did you choose, did you have to back up anything?

I need to get my iphone working with OSX and need to upgrade to 10.4.10

I tried it with PASCALS combo updater yesterday but failed big time :-(

Please anybody give me a hint.

Thank you!

look up in the search function about triple booting with vista, there is something special you have to do because the bootloader wont work and i believe it involves the vista dvd or something...anyway give the search function a try, it has been discussed over and over..

Haha nice one macgirl!

Just letting you guys know that I attached a lot of files to the first post, so now a lot of the hard to get Kext's should be readily available :P

I also attached the 1.0.6 AppleSMBIOS along with a fully working SystemProfiler :(

Hardware Overview, Diagnostics, Memory and PCI Cards all report back the correct information.

The Kext is also guaranteed to work properly with all Adobe CS3 appz!

A quick note for ppl that are experiencing colour banding; just use Gotoh's NVinjectGo driver from now on, you don't need anything else.

If you want to enable sleep on clam-shut then you will still need to use it in-conjunction with NvidiaEFI.

This works 100% btw with no more pause on boot-up just before it logs in, and also Sleep mode still works fine!

tbcarey: Thanks so much for the AppleHDA subwoofer hack! It got sound working on my 6400 10.4.10 system, even though I don't have a sub. Can't wait for the headphone oriented version for us without the subwoofer!

Also: one other question. My first time through upgrading the kernel on 10.4.10 from 8.10.1 to 8.10.3, my video drivers crapped and I came up with a black screen after booting. I am sticking with the .1 kernel until I can figure out was wrong... I think it had to do with me replacing the system.kext that came with the kernel.

Thanks for all your work guys!

Yeah, there is a corrupt 8.10.3 System.kext floating around that everyone is using. Grab a fixed one from the first post in this thread, I just attached it for you :)

You can also get it from mac.nub's site too.

:( Someone might want to let irc.osx86.hu/#10.4.10 they are distro'ing a corrupt System.kext ... Maybe I'll do that later.

Are there any benefits to .3 over .1 that you guys know of?

Anyway, thanks devilhood! You rock.

EDIT: Thanks also for attaching, looks like mac.nub is experiencing some popularity... hehe.
