Devilhood,

I am now upgraded the the 10.4.9 with the netkas Kernel. I still can't figure out what I am doing wrong with the patcher. I am going to try the 9220 patch that is on the JaS Install and mess with that but if you could send me the Kext just incase I don't have any luck.

Thanks for all your help!

If your onboard sound is 9200 then 9220 wont work dude.

YAY!! Sound is working good. I don't know about inputs and headphones yet, but I don't really care as long as it makes noise. Thank you everyone for all your help..it turns out I was mostly retarded, and should have had it working a long time ago.

I am down to only a few minor issues.

1. Does anyone else have a problem with there "del" "end" etc... keys not being rcognized on their onboard keyboard?

2. And lastly any decent fix for sleep yet? by sleep I mean getting the "screen to wake up"

3. dual core, I'm not holding my breath

I'm on a Inspiron 6400

i would guess your 'del' and 'end' keys don't work because osx uses 'backspace' for delete and 'control + forward arrow' for end. your keys work, it's just the keyboard layout. the first thing you may want to do is go into the keyboard modifier and switch the command and control keys to make it work more like windows. it takes some getting used to.

I managed to correct my banding issues for my Go 7300 through extensive web search.

I downloaded LaptopDisplay.kext and NVinjectGo.kext from here:

http://lemamouth.free.fr/NVinject/

The links provided by devilhood on original post are no longer valid (Macvidia), but thanks again for the compilation.

This will help others with other GeForce Go users.

Yeah, ever since Macvidia went offline for temporary maintenance I forgot to update the link. Will do now.

In the mean time, their forum is hosted at a different location: http://forum.osx86scene.com/

Can you help with me on this Devilhood? :P

I've just install on my E1505 with uPhuck 10.4.9 1.4i ver.

1. The problems is I can't get my computer to sleep. When I click Sleep the mouse cursor just disappear, and everything on screen just froze, when I move my mouse everything was back to normal, in which I can't make the "dual-core initialization" trick :(

(fyc, I've installed the ACPICPU pack in uPhuck installer).

2. Is it ok for me to use software update to update to 10.4.10 now?

I already stated in my guide that updating via Software Update to any future version of OS X is a no-go :)

Make sure you're using the new keithpk PowerManagement bundle and the ACPI Kernel, then do the 'sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0' (without quotations) command within Terminal to allow sleep to work properly.

Just read the PowerManagement bit in my guide and it should explain things clearly.

Let me know how it goes!

I've got the Radeon X1400 Mobility. Anybody know if it's possible to remove it and use the integrated graphics? I don't really game, and it's conflicting with my Presonus Firepod, I think. Does my computer not include the integrated graphics because I got the Radeon, or is it just disabled?

If I don't have the integrated graphics, what's the cheapest Nvidia graphics card I could get that would work well with OS X?

Dell Laptops are either supplied with integrated graphics or a graphics card instead. You cannot have both available to you.

The Nvidia GeForce 7800 Go is fairly cheap and you can buy it from eBay.

In a rush, but just thought I'd finally get around to posting this, a month later...

Instructions:

1) Delete existing AppleHDA.kext and ALCinject.kext files in /System/Library/Extensions

2) Mount image file and copy kext files into /System/Library/Extensions

3) Delete /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache and /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

4) Delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist

5) Run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions

6) Copy 'Play Thru for SigmaTel 9200' to the folder of your choice and use as necessary in order to hear input device audio via speakers

Some quick caveats:

- Only designed for E1705/9400, aka Dell laptops with subwoofers.

- Kext uses latest version of AppleHDA (early July update), so you must be running 10.4.10 for it to work. Users of 10.4.9 and below should not apply this kext.

- Subwoofer is now an independent device, so its volume is controlled separately, even if you don't hear it when it is selected in System Preferences. The trade-off with this is that you have to remember to mute both devices if you want silence, but the gain is that you will be able to modify subwoofer volume independently of the main front speakers.

- Headphone detection 'works'; headphone output does not. OS X insists on muting the mixer node (0b) entirely when a device is inserted, which goes against the Intel HD Audio 1.0 spec's exception for codecs with shared mixer nodes. However, Apple doesn't use any codecs in its current hardware lineups that have shared mixer nodes, so I don't expect them to make any attempt to support this portion of the HD Audio spec.

- For Play Thru for SigmaTel 9200 to work properly, the External Microphone device and both speaker devices must all have the same 'Format' settings in 'Audio MIDI Setup'. I've only tested it fully on 44.1kHz, 2 channel 16-bit output, since this is what the Dell specs are set at. If you have different bit-depth or sample frequency settings for separate devices, you WILL have problems with the output locking up after a few seconds.

Will write more later, but late for a Saturday night outing. Hope this works for all of you. I'll be back to check and see if there are any problems!

Cheers,

-T.

Hi tbcarey...

Just to notice that your .kexts works well in my laptop as well (Dell Precision M90 - Uphuck OSX with Koolkal combo update 10.4.10) :)

I had some issues concerning owner and permissions (ALCInject.kext) but finally fixed it ("chown" and "chmod" routines)

Thank you so much...

tbcarey, I get no detected sound output whatsoever with your replacement kexts even after chown and chmod.

Are you using the AppleHDA from 10.4.10 or 10.4.9? I prefer to stick with 10.4.9 because of the ACPI kernel.

Ah, yes, sorry - that was another caveat I forgot to mention whilst in a hurry to get out the door. This kext incorporates the latest version of AppleHDA (Sound Update from early July), which is designed for 10.4.10.  I can try to put together a version for 10.4.9, but it would mean loss of the 'Ambient noise reduction' feature for input devices.

For the time being, if you're using 10.4.9, don't use this kext.

Known unresolved issues related to my configuration?

Thanks.

hi ogitrevbus,

- not native resolution (only 1024x786)

- mouse glitches when QE is enabled

- built-in speakers dont mute if you plug in earphones

- no mute in general (when i turn down the volumne sound is very quiet, but not off)

- wlan doesnt work (think so - havent testet yet)

i recommend "uphuck 10.4.9 v1.4i r3" or "XxX 10.4.10 PPF1"

Now I'm in my new Mac Dell XPS M1330.

no Wireless (3945ABG)

no Ethernet (Broadcom 59xx)

no QE/CI (Nvidia 8400M GS) but really fast anyway in VESA mode even accept 1280x800 resolution.

Sound only thru headphones

Webcam Works without special driver

Bluetooth works

Card reader not recognized

I have wireless with an USB adapter BTW.

But the great thing is that both cores work without probs, no cpus=1 or idlehalt, no stuttering at all.

tbcarey, I didn't know you were a fellow Londoner! huzzah :(

Indeed! West London here...  what about you?  :P

I am going to try to release two more versions of the previous patched AppleHDA.kext: one for people who still want to use the headphone jack (muting will not work) and one for those who don't have a subwoofer.

Still not certain about a 10.4.9 release, as during my testing I noted that quite a bit has changed in AppleHDA with 10.4.10 and subsequent July update, and it'd require a lot of work to ensure the old version works in the same manner. Sorry.  :censored2:

Here's to hoping Apple releases the 10.4.10 Darwin source code soon... and perhaps even includes the source for AppleHDA, if we're extremely lucky!
