devilhood
Nice, I find Dell warranty very useful. :censored2:Is your 7900GS rev1? Display sleep working? Ok, here are my results with the Rev. A01 7900 GS: Display Sleep doesn't properly work. The screen goes black and it doesn't re-appear. Full System Sleep/Wake works fine though
devilhood
Hmmm, I think I see what all the fuss about this infamous Bluetooth issue is I just installed Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal Module driver for Vista 32-bit and now the Mac doesn't actually recognize the hardware anymore, this must be due to the Vista Profile Pack firmware upgrade that the installation also does. The default setup for Bluetooth after first install according to the default Vista driver is IVT, but I do not know if the original driver initializes or updates the firmware in a different way, or if there is a way to change it back after installing the Dell package. At the moment, I do not know how to fix this, but I should be able to find out by tonight.
msh
My only problem with OS X on Dell inspiron 9400 is that it's preformce is not so god as WinXP.It's lagging when i browse to internet, and if i scroll many pictures opp an down it's much slower then XP.It's that because of Nvidia drivers are not optimal in OS X? tbcarey
Hi guys. Just to let everyone know, I'm not dead! I've been sitting on something for quite awhile now that I should've released long ago, but never got the time to send to anyone else to test and package up properly. It should solve all of the problems with audio rec rding and playback during recording, as well as adding in a few new additions. U fortunately, it won't include headphone support yet (in full form - detection but not muting), but it will also allow for separate control of the subwoofer and main s eaker volumes. I will hopefully have time to package this up and release it over the next week. I had been hoping to finish up work on headphone detection before releasing it, but as it's just been sitting stagnant on my laptop for over 3 weeks now, it's probably best to release it in current form and add the headphone detection when/if I ever have time to sit down and finally crack it. Hope everyone is doing well

Have you encountered any problems with Bluetooth in the same way as I described above btw? I only recently stumbled across this problem since buying a Bluetooth Mouse. Pawel. devilhood
Ok guys, I have managed to solve the issue with the Bluetooth problem. The guide has also been updated with the fix. Here's a solution thanks to Topogigi from the Ubuntu forums. 1) Boot into Vista and download from the Dell support site the latest BT 350 driver for Windows XP and unzip it to a folder 2) Find a directory in that folder called "DFU" (usually located in 2KXP/DFU/) 3) Find the file called "DFU.exe", right click it and choose "Run as administrator" 4) Wait until the firmware downgrade has finished, then reboot into Vista and you will find that the bluetooth chip is now not recognized. Go to Device manager and manually re-install the Vista Bluetooth driver (don't use the setup.exe provided by the driver pack, simply install it using the "have disk" way and load the .inf file directly from the Vista driver directory). 5) Reboot into Mac OS X. Voilà I'm not sure how to retain full Bluetooth for both OS' at the moment, but perhaps there could be a solution to this with the Apple Boot Camp driver. There is always the EFI question... and whether or not the firmware upgrade for the Mac Bluetooth controller is compatible with a standard BIOS system. Only thing I know for sure is that the Macbook Pro uses a CSR Bluetooth controller as well. Pawel.

Could this be because you have allowed USB devices to wake the system from sleep? check your BIOS options.

JanosX
I am having significant issues with my 6400. I have had successful installs a number of times but have only reached a full boot once, and it froze shortly after keyboard selection. I am currently downloading a new JAS 10.4.8 with both PPF. Can anyone recommend a good installer, this laptop will be strictly OS X (assuming everything goes according to plan)? Also does anyone have an invite code for demonoid? Tracking down files and istall packages is a pain without it. Thanks, I have literally read atleast 25 of this 38 page post. It's been extremely helpful, but I haven't got everything to click yet. JanosX
Yay I'm up and running. Now to figure out how to get everything working. I have a problem I haven't seen tackled yet. When I try to eject my cd/dvd tray nothing happens, then Finder locks up, I can't force quit and have to manually shut down. It appears to be an Optiarc DVD +- RW AD-5540A. Also, I know the Sigmatel 9200 fix is easy ussing the AppleHDAPatcher but where do I get the codec dump? Thank you and yes I am a noob so sorry! Make sure you're using the latest kernel and cpu=1 is enabled. Make sure the patcher isn't corrupted and double check the codec file you're using. If that still doesn't help, I can send you the kext files and all you'd need to do is copy it over and repair permissions The JaS installer is quite problematic compared to Uphuck's... so when you get the chance, grab Uphuck. JanosX
Devilhood I am using the Semthex 8.8.1 Kernel with 10.4.8. And at this point still have multi core disabled in the bios. I have 2 copies of the patcher, both 1.15 and 1.16. I would greatly appreciate the kext. I can manage it from there, assuming nothing terribly funky is required. Ah, if you're still using 10.4.8 then my kext will not work properly because I have a patched version of the 10.4.9 kext only. The Semthex kernel is pretty outdated now, you're better off updating to 10.4.9 and using the new ACPI compatible kernel from Netkas.
