wraithalchemist
i am now on my 3rd install with the ipc disk .... should i be running the efi v9 version of this or just the straight 1.4.1 i can get the system all the way going but i try to keep tweaking it and breaking trying some of the stuff in this installer.. i'm running it installs fine i run osx86 repair and set everything delete the cache reboot and on this latest venture i lost my keyboard.. should i be using the smbios off the ipc disk or should i overwrite it with this and if so which one for a gma950 1.6ghz cor duo 1 gb ram ? also i cannot get trackpad scrolling to work which is not a big deal because it keeps breaking my install but at the same time before and after breaking keyboard i would get shocked off usb ports and i can feel static on my trackpad?? whats up with that? also i am looking to find out how i can make sure that my system is running at max speed(performance) i noticed i couldn't go to hulu and watch things in full screen without it jumping and not even really at all when switched to 480p on the player.. how do i fix this? coarselanguage
wraithalchemist == legend !!! osx86tools worked like a charm ! Thanks for the tip. Thanks mate, you've saved me a heap of time ! I now have almost everything working, wireless, blutooth and my display is running 1920 x 1080 (Which looks soo sweet !!) I also strongly recommend OSX86TOOLS to EVERYONE (http://######.com/osx86tools/) This is such a great utility, which strangely I haven't seen mentioned too often in this forum (I'm probably not looking hard enough) It's also the best thing ever for backing up your current configuration (short of imaging the drive) wraithalchemist, when I inititally went up to 10.5.6 I had smbios issues and when I was installing from AITKOS 5i and what finally worked for me was not checking any of the boxes (which installed what I assume would be the default smbios) which worked fine for me, but I'm using different hardware to you. Cheers ! yay now I can install iLife09.
wraithalchemist
welcome, as far as the wireless goes your using the 1390 or 1395 right.... i am experiencing some major drops in my connection while downloading... like i have to pause the download and start it again so it keeps going, not too mention the speed is sparatic. i noticed in osx86 tools there is a box for enable/disable quartz gl, how do i tell if it is enabled or not?? TheGreatDeceiver
help i'm on my second install and i'm happy i got it going the first time but when i installed sonatones pack it broke it.... just from the ipc disk wireless worked?? even though i didnt pick anything video was good mouse was ok with keyboard but no sound... if you are at this stage to get sound working you need to extract the hda from sonotone's patch manually and install it with kexthelper or osx86 tools. I've installed 3 times now and each time i have to delete AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext in order to get past the Kernel panic. I Guess its just the iDeneb DVD for 10.5.5 it must leave it there. On my 3rd install i installed the GMA950 patch, as i thought it might help (i'm not sure if the iDeneb GMA950 patch is the same as sonotones) Last thing... when i press my monitor info button (during the garbled screen) it says the Laptop is trying to display at 1024 * 768 @ 60Hz Kwikk sonotone's is not the same and includes a script that wakes up the monitor from sleep after boot. I think you do need that one. for the screen resolution add resolution into you com.apple.boot.plist like this to force it: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel.voodoo</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>"Graphics Mode"=1280x800x32@60"</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>5</string> </dict> </plist> Also, you need to turn the notebook off, plug in the external monitor and boot with it attached otherwise it won't work. i am now on my 3rd install with the ipc disk .... should i be running the efi v9 version of this or just the straight 1.4.1 I am using pcefi9 to get deep sleep, otherwise that won't work i can get the system all the way going but i try to keep tweaking it and breaking trying some of the stuff in this installer.. you need to be more patient. I am gone for a couple hours and you hacked away an almost perfect installation (only sound missing...) should i be using the smbios off the ipc disk or should i overwrite it with this and if so which one for a gma950 1.6ghz cor duo 1 gb ram ? not important, just info it displays correctly or not, cosmetics. also i cannot get trackpad scrolling to work which is not a big deal because it keeps breaking my install but at the same time before and after breaking keyboard i would get shocked off usb ports and i can feel static on my trackpad?? whats up with that? don't worry about this yet also i am looking to find out how i can make sure that my system is running at max speed(performance) i noticed i couldn't go to hulu and watch things in full screen without it jumping and not even really at all when switched to 480p on the player.. you likely have no hardware acceleration or qe. you need to see this to have full hardware support. find this under about this mac/more info.../Graphics/Displays Chipset Model: GMA 950 Type: Display Bus: Built-In VRAM (Total): 64 MB of shared system memory Vendor: Intel (0x8086) Device ID: 0x27a2 Revision ID: 0x0003 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1280 x 800 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Built-In: Yes QuartzGL: Supported Display Connector: Status: No display connected how do i fix this? wraithalchemist
ok dude you know i love you for all your help... but i was wondering what it does and if it is enabled off the bat.. i cant tell if it is on.. i am in stealth mode with the wifi and it's wpa protection, does that matter?? also i got the screen to wake up using the gma950 from ipc by changing hibernate to 1 and adding in a password at boot.. awsomeness.. i still use hot corners for fast sleep tho, but for some reason the screen saver wont start not a big deal tho i just turned it off what all do i for sure need off of the inspiron installer.. And before you fork your system again I highly recommend to make an image of it so you don't have to reinstall.
wraithalchemist
no scrolling isnt bothering me but the wifi definitely is. for some reason i have static build up on my trackpad..? sound is on, sleep works like a charm. as far as the installer goes, what files will not install right with it? my battery is not plugged into it does that matter? wraithalchemist
yep i deleted it off the bat when i seen it there. now that i think of it i didnt pick anything on the install for wireless or fo wired.. but it still worked. do you think that maybe the installer from sonotone isnt installing the new one?? how would i check this.. one more thing should i stick with the smbios you told me to pick from ipc or should i try these on sonotones maybe try macbook? But, it won't hurt if you install the correct driver from sonotone's patcher again (I assume you got the same 1390).
wraithalchemist
i have read what you told i am just at a stage now where i am reaching i guess... sorry, it's just that my wireless on my mini9 is tip top downloading things at 1.3 mbs, this is all over the map with anywhere from zero to 415. one time it took firefox like a whole minute before allowing the google home page to load.. i did the quartz gl enable and it now says quartz extreme and gl are supported.. havent seen a change but it is on now. the wifi i would almost pay to have fixed but can i just get a wifi usb for it?? if so what will apple recognize? like plug and play just so we are clear... i had wifi before i even ran sonotones installer and it sucked... ran it, repaired it restarted it and it still sux.. KwikkSilva
Hey Guys, First kiwkk, sounds like you are using the darwin bootloader. Have you tried typing in "Graphics Mode"="1280x1024x32" at the boot loader when you type in -x and see if that works or maybe use a resolution like 800x600 etc?? I know you can also try to edit the file /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist and insert the lines: <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280×1024×32</string> Something to try I guess. Thanks for the info coarselanguage, unfortunately it didn't help. Each time i would change the resolution using 8/16 or 32 bit, it would just give me a smaller or bigger version of the same garbled screenshot i posted earlier. Last night i bit the bullet and did a fresh install of iAtkos 5i (as i was using iDeneb 10.5.5) to see if that would bear different results. It gave me the exact same screen "garble" as iDeneb, it's really driving me nuts now. I don't understand what i'm doing wrong! I mean this is a chipset that is supposed to be quite easy to setup.... -x for safe mode does not seem to help... Argh! If TheGreatDeceiver or anyone else can help please post.... thanks guys. wraithalchemist
ok i restored my origin kext from when ifirst got it up anf going and all is better i did the audio fix you told me too.. it is awesome now, thx.. but for the life of me i cant get the wifi going... i even plugged in wired to it earlier and the speed was really good like 1.2 mbs but it would also do the dropping on me, where a file would just stop downloading all together out of nowhere... and help would be greatly appreciated.. edit... ok i saw that you wrote right when iwas ...lol ok didn't delete that kext tho all i did was restore from osx86 what a backed up after the ipc on this install..which in turn made run sonotones installer but this time it wouldn't let me install the audio at ALL! so thank god for you telling me how to fix that, i did. now we are to the wireless and Ethernet

wraithalchemist
HaX0r: no support for dual core yet due to weird limited bios, people are working on the issue but no timeline as to when it will be done, still on one core it runs fine. It uses the entire cpu as one core instead of splitting the cpu in two cores that work at different times. Also update on 1390 issue, it seems that 10.5.2 IONetworkingFamily.kext does not support the card well as it connects and disconnect intermittently so I downgraded to the 10.5.1 kext and everything seems to be working fine thus far! If it matters I selected the broadcom airport fix from the dvd install menu and now it shows up as an airport extreme, although didn't seem to affect the performance of the card in any way (Tried it with and without) Devilhood: you may want to make a mention of this 1390 issue and the fix in your guide EDIT: Oh and FYI: I get NO artifacting on my gma950 with Kalyway 10.5.2 running vanilla!! EDIT 2: Running 3 days on IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.5.1 on kalyway 10.5.2 install with Truemobile 1390 wireless without any issues 10.5.1 kext for IONetworkingFamily can be found here should even try this deciever

I never ever had problems with wireless, always worked. are you using encrypted wireless? which wireless card is in your mini? try to swap the two and see if you can reproduce it. instructions on how to change them are online, easy to do. maybe you even have a loose wire somewhere that leads to your static build up. it should work and it's working on other ppls notebooks with same hardware -> probably hardware. swap in another card that I know works see what happens. It works -> yes it's hardware. it doesn't work -> it's my forked install. If you don't eliminate the first possibility you may be looking for a solution forever!
