Finally an x200 solution. Downloaded MacOSX_10.4.4DVD_PPF4.rar.torrent and patched that on to the Mac OS X 10.4.4/5 osx86 Patched Bootable DVD with md5 d0bcd93dd9b40b072dc4cc4c6111d0b0. Burned a new Image and installed natively with no problems, the installer automatically upgrades to 10.4.6. The only thing not working is wireless and sound.

Are trying to get it to work with Grub boot loader now so that I can dual boot with Suse Linux and Windows XP pro, but are getting grub error 17 Cannot mount selected partition.. help appreciated!

:D WOOT WOOT! Just got it booting native here too.

Notebook Specs:

HP Pavilion dv5000

ATI 200x

AMD Turion64 2.2Ghz

Native runs OSx86 VERY FAST! I mean WOOOW! It's like 2x faster than my campus' OSX notebooks!

Here's what's working and what's not:

WORKING:

ATI x200 (of course :D )

Ethernet Internet

Firewire Networking

Notebook battery (no status though, but it can run on the battery. Screen dims when the power cable isn't plugged in, which is good.)

Keyboard works

Touchpad works

CD/DVD drive reads disks (Don't know if it'll burn CDs and DVDs yet though.)

Mouse Left & Right click buttons work.

NOT WORKING:

Audio

Wireless Internet

ATI Video Card full potential (no 1280x800 and stuff yet.)

Touchpad's Scroll

DVD Movie Playback (can view the contents on the disk still.)

HP QuickLaunch buttons (The Audio's mute one does pop up the audio icon in OSX, but since there's no audio support..the others won't do anything.)

The only things that lag are Screensavers. Quartz Extreme support is what get them flowing smooth.

Really excited that I got this baby up native!!! NO MORE "waiting for root device"!!!

Just burned a CD and a DVD, worked fine

LizKas

yep, same here.

Did you install in native or VMWare to local disk?

I did VMWare to local disk, so maybe I'll go back and reinstall it in the native installer. (Everything buy Audio and Wireless are pretty much working fine though, so I think it'd work the same.) Already works fabulous!

I'm using BootMagic since it stays on top of Darwin's boot loader.

I now have a selection between Windows XP and OSx86!

The background is customizable in BootMagic, so I put my name and stuff on it. (you know...pimp the boot screen out)

BootMagic is so easy to customize within WindowsXP, it's gatta be my favorite.

well, i can't get my wireless working... also,

Just downloaded VLC and are playing DVD – still no sound but it works

did you noticed any lag in the video? look closer... at least on my I can notice that the video is lagging... and yes... no audio... hope the SB400 effort gives any fruit...

Got wireless thanks to digicide! Super guide! Here is a copy of it:

The method I've had success with is very simple-- I'll try to put it more simply than I did above.

1. Download IO80211Family.kext and AppleAirport2.kext from this post. Open Finder and navigate to /System/Library/Extensions. Open each of the zip files you just downloaded-- you should see a folder in each of them. Drag this folder (not any extra files you may see) into /System/Library/Extensions. If it asks you to authenticate, say yes, if it asks you about replacing, say yes.

2. You can close the zip files now. In your /System/Library/Extensions folder, right click (or command click or whatever the mac equivalent is...) on IO80211Family.kext. Select 'show package contents'. You'll see a contents folder, open that, you'll see a plugins folder, open that, you'll see AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext, right click that and select 'show package contents'. You'll see a file 'info.plist'. Single click it and select Edit>Copy from the menu bar. Click an empty spot on your desktop and select Edit>Paste from the menu bar. Double click the new info.plist file on your desktop. If it asks you how to open it, tell it to use TextEdit. Now you'll see a bunch of gibberish. Scroll down till you see the section that is indented the most. Here you'll read

<string>pci14e4,4311</string>

<string>pci14e4,4312</string>

<string>pci14e4,4324</string>

Replace the 4323 there with your Device ID Number. If you are using a v2000 series compaq presario like me, that number is 4318. If you're not, well... search around on this forum for how to figure that number out, and if you can't reply back here and i'll edit this post. Now-- save this file, close the text editor, and drag info.plist off the desktop and into the folder you originally copied it out of. Click 'authenticate' if it asks and type your password, and yes, agree to replace.

3. You can close all open windows if they're in the way. Open a finder window, go to applications, then to utilities, and open 'disk utility'. Select your main mac os drive and find and click the button labeled 'repair disk permissions'. when this is done, reboot. when the system is done rebooting, select the apple from the menu bar, hit system preferences, click network, and you should see that a new airport device has been found. it pretty much wants you to confirm that this is indeed true so you just hit 'apply now' and leave. you should see the baseball diamond wifi indicator on your menu bar now, and wifi should be fully functional.

you see? easy as 1,2,3... he he...

eh man have u got the CE/QI? i dont think so...why dont u just donwload the 10.4.6 JAS DVD and dont create such a useless topic?

When I created this topic:

1. The 10.4.6 JAS DVD was not available, but the patch was!

2. The patch came before the 10.4.6 JAS DVD!

3. For al the people that had the Mac OS X 10.4.4/5 osx86 Patched Bootable DVD, they didn’t have to download the new DVD image with is like several GB, they only had to download a 130-40 MB patch!

PS! What is your problem....? ;)

LizKas :D

Sorry, I'm a noob :D so bear with me with my questions:

(1) I have downloaded "MacOSX_10.4.4DVD_PPF4.rar" and I have installed 10.4.4. Can I extract the contents from this archive and patch it over my current installation for the ATI SB200 support? Which file(s) do I need to extract and where should I put it?

(2) From the posts on this thread, this patch archive contains the 10.4.6 upgrade as well. So, which file should I extract to install the upgrade? How do I patch it over my current installation?

Thanks!

I boot the DVD natively and neither my mouse nor keyboard (which are both PS/2) work. So I disable my mouse and, after literally 5 minutes of loading, navigate setup with the keyboard. My drive doesn't show up in the list of available places to install, nor does it show up in disk utility.

I refuse to set the blank partition as the primary partition, as I have done this twice in the past and both times the installer still failed to recognize the drive.

The blank partition has to be on the primary disk, windows partition can still stay primary. You just use partition magic and resize the windows drive. Then you have to set the blank to active. You can use ultimate boot CD or something else for that.

You have to set it to active– if not you can not install natively! After the install you change the windows partition back to active, that shouldn’t give you any problems. Also recommend installing a bootloader, that way it does not matter, you can just use chainloader

LizKas ;)

I set the blank partition to active and, just like every single other attempt before it, the installer wouldn't recognize it. The only listed location to install was the OS X DVD.

Using rd=disk0s0 through disk0s3 gave a kernel panic. disk0s1 simply went back to the waiting for root device problem. Without any rd=, it boots into the installer but won't recognize any drive.
