This is my second time using OSx86 and I'm having more trouble then I did with the original 10.4.1.

I am using the OSx86 10.4.4/5 Install DVD with the Intel SSE3 Patches. 10.4.5 Installed.

My system: http://tinyurl.com/mo3nk + 512mb ram + Geforce FX5500 PCI

1st Problem: Keyboard and Mouse do not work. After install the intro movie came on, then it asked me to pick a language. I had keyboard support, but no mouse, so I couldn't continue. I then restarted, and found that after the intro movie I get the please insert keyboard message.

I have tried the kextload and kextunload. Now in verbose mode, says that authentication failed.

I would like to try one of the modified kexts but I do not have the knowledge to install it and couldn't find a clear guide.

2nd Problem: I have no audio, I wouldn't even know that I didn't until I went into verbose mode and found that OSx86 had trouble loading the kext, along with PS2Controller (previous question) and the nvidia kext. Maybe more kexts didn't load, hard to tell, the text just flies by so fast. I can't read it all, anyone know how to stop it or slow it down?

This problem can wait until I have mouse and keyboard working.

3rd Problem: This is the least of my worries, the Nvidia kext not loading.

Also, does anyone know how to make the timeout on the Darwin Bootloader longer? I tried the Timeout= but that didn't do anything. I just don't want to keep tapping F8 to load windows or enter a boot command. It'd also be nice to load windows as default, but I do not think that is possible as of now.

Sorry if all these questions have been answered, I've searched the board for several hours and could find no simple and easy guide with instructions or a clear answer to my problems.

Thanks.

hey srry i cant answer all you questions with a sure response but here is what i think

for your first problem with mouse/keyboard try enabling legacy options in your bios not to sure how to do that since i dont know your bios

and if that doesnt work try a usb mouse

and for hte last problem it is in your mac partition somewhere its called apple.com.boot.list or something like that look inside of that file and you should see timeout or something change that to whatever

try safe mode too -x if it turns off while booting up try -s and exit in safe mode (exit -x)

IF ALL ELSE fails try using vmware to load up the partition and use your mouse from there and just pass the installation setup thing and try to fix from there

and ? what dvd image are u using?

I'm using the universal ISO 10.4.4/5

I don't believe I have Legacy USB, I've looked multiple times in the bios and never could find it, though I was in their for different reasons (attempting to install Intel's bios instead of HP's by using recovery bios)

I'll try exiting into safemode.

I've got the same problems as you with keyboard and mouse, still I only got my keyboard to work, so I am now using an USB mouse, that works ok.

For the bootload to show up, you should go to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/

Then open com.apple.Boot.plist with a text editor and add the following two lines to the other keys:

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>10</string>

where 10 is the number of seconds for the menu to appear, good luck

Are You using USB keybord. If "yes" then this should helps

The same problem was on such topic of ru-board.ru

The solution was:

"...More (or Much) modern BIOSes have graphic bootsplash. When booting press "tab" or something like this to disable bootsplah and detect USB keyboard"

People on this forum sad that it's helped (Sorry for my English -- It's not my native language)
