PRGUY85 Posted February 1, 2009 Share Posted February 1, 2009 Hey: I have installed iAtkos v4i on other computers with success (always problems with updates though). Now, I want to do the same for an old HP DV1315cl laptop. I tried iAtkos v4i but it wouldn't load so I download the iPCOSx86 10.5.6 release to try it out. It loaded and installed yet on first boot (after adding -f to boot options) it wouldn't load. I installed it again using a Chipset driver (the ICHx I believe) and now it goes on endless reboot loop. I don't know if it's because I am installing wrong kext files on installation or because it just won't run on this laptop. Any help? PRGUY85 Posted February 1, 2009 Author Share Posted February 1, 2009 I reinstalled with a clean vanilla install, no additional drivers or applications selected. I did so and booted with -f and I still got "waiting for root device". So, now I believe I must install a chipset driver. Yet, I don't know which to install. I will use the Intel one since its the closest to my hardware. PRGUY85 Posted February 1, 2009 Author Share Posted February 1, 2009 I installed it again using the 9.4.0 kernel and AppleIntelATA chipset driver and still got the reboot loop problem. Anyone has any suggestions or experience with old HP DV 1xxx laptops? UPDATE: I read a guide that said: "Instant reboot after boot to the hard drive: Intel processor, check for NX-bit (also called No Execute, or Execute disable-bit) in your BIOS, enable it if it's there, also Virtualization Technology." My BIOS is pretty basic and has no such options. PRGUY85 Posted February 1, 2009 Author Share Posted February 1, 2009 Yet another update: Used Voodoo 9.5 kernel + LegacyAppleIntelATA chipset driver only. It got past the loading Apple screen into a blue screen but did nothing else. I tried: Voodoo kernel 9.5.0+ LegacyAppleIntelATA chipset driver+ Seatbelt.kxt+ APPLESMBIOSEFI It got me past loading screen to a blue screen. I tested before this the same with video+audio drivers with same result. I don't know what did it but here is what I used (off the top of my head): For HP DV1315cl iPCOSx86 10.5.6 Voodoo Kernel 9.5.0 Seatbelt.kxt ACPI FIX CPUS=1 FIX LegacyAppleIntelATA chipset Intel 900G video driver AppleAC97 audio driver UUID FIX AppleSMBIOSEFI PS2 Keyboard fix IPW2200 driver Maybe I hit some stuff that weren't needed for my particular install. Perhaps it was me selecting the Intel 900 instead of Intel 915 driver or selecting the ACPI/UUID/CPUS fix. Either way, it's now working. Only thing that I can't get to work is connecting to a wireless network with a WPA password.
