Hello everyone!

 

I've installed iPC 10.5.6 on my Samsung R510 and almost everything ir working fine.

But I have a poblem with my finder.

 

Everytime I try to open the finder settings, the finder crashes.

 

I've already tried to search through the board but I can't find any solutions.

 

Hope you can help me!

I've the same issue.

Finder crashes when I'm entering at Settings.

 

I did a test, killing and re-running Finder from Terminal with:

 

sudo killall Finder && /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/MacOS/Finder

 

and I'd got a "Bus error".

Allright guys, think you are all using NVidia videocards, right?

I recognized something.

I just installed iPC again and the Finder was working fine until I installed NVKush and modified the following kexts:

GeForce.kext

NVDANV40Hal.kext

NVDANV50Hal.kext

NVDAResman.kext

NVkush.kext

From HD>System>Library>Extensions like in the following instruction by a1k0n (unfortunatelly it's only in german):

Maybe now somebody got an idea what's the problem here?

I have the same problem, Finder crashes everytime i hit Settings, i've got iPC 10.5.6 with "AppleNForceATA Test". Everything else works great, have no videodrivers or such at the moment, so its a pretty "clean" OSX!

 

Please help!

 

EDIT: Not using NVidia card atm, and no drivers!

Had the problem too and solved it.

 

Apperantly it has got something to do with the language resource of the finder. Install either the finder of 10.5.5 english and reinstall language pack or install 10.5.6 finder and language pack. Use combo update package and pacifist.

Found out that changing the language caused this problem.

Since I could not find the language pack on the combo update only updated the finder. And it worked no more

crash when opening the finder prefs.

Had the problem too and solved it.

 

Apperantly it has got something to do with the language resource of the finder. Install either the finder of 10.5.5 english and reinstall language pack or install 10.5.6 finder and language pack. Use combo update package and pacifist.

 

Thanks for this reply!! I reinstalled the whole computer and choose 10.5.5 Finder with english. Problem is that now i cant get it to use my language, finder is english, everything else is swedish. I also tried installing the 10.5.6 combo update from apple.com, but my computer didnt start, so i had to reinstall everything :) Where do i get this combo update package and language pack?

You dont need to reinstall the whole computer. Just the finder.

Reinstall your language pack with pacifist. You will find the language pack on any distro or retail disc.

Just open the install disc with pacifist and install your appropriate language.

Combo is from Apple see their support pages.
