Samjung
If you have a blackscreen you should try to plug an external display... for the moment only Toshiba A300 can send signal to the internal, certainly because of a special LVDS connection... jarodsix
No, he says it doesn't. "only on external VGA monitor" No, internal is not working. To be precise, it first flashes in blue color, then is "covered" with black, however the back-light stays on. @ridgeline: yes, full res. switch works, incl. frequency Hz (CRT) Is there anything I could do to help out? Samjung
Well guys, I have some good news and some bad. I got OSx working with full res and qe/ql. Installed XxX 10.5.6, deleted all ATI related kexts in extensions (setting permissions with osxtool), installed kexts with kexthelper and rebooted. And Voila, it worked. Problem is: Wanted to test if sleep works. So I press the apple logo and say sleep. Screen goes black and seems to be sleeping. Wanted to go back to the desktop, didnt not work (either by mouseclick or pressing powerbutton). So I shut off the laptop by holding the power button. But, when I try to boot it again, my laptops freezes at the POSt screen (aka I see the toshiba logo en the 'press f2 to enter bios') I can't do anything Anyone know how I can fix this?! Need this lappie for school... Ps. Its a dualboot system. Windows 7 beta was running as main.
Boombeng
Samjung, I don't know what happens with your Toshiba laptop (and I hope you'll be able to repair) but I want to say you are not alone having this issue, I talked to L3bed on the IRC and he told me he had exactly the same problem, he can not boot and can not go in Bios options, and as you, this issue happened playing with kexts to run HD3XX0 mobility. I don't know if the issue is related to kexts tests, and I told to L3bed it wasn't, but now you report the same issue I have doubts... EDIT : You should try to pull out your battery, or maybe the Ram, and put it back...
ridgeline
I recommend pulling both and leave them out for a minute or so and then reinstall and reboot This happened to another user but not with your system and it worked for him

I think It may be related with/hibernate. Since it didnt work (did not install any special kexts for it during install op leopard) it may have something to do with sleep. If I am correct, with sleep/hibernate info is written into the RAM... btw, I did not boot with or without battery, so i might try pulling the RAM out for a minute or so. Need this lappie for school... Ps. Its a dualboot system. Windows 7 beta was running as main. First off, those kinds of sleep issues are pretty common, lots of people have various solutions to the issue, even regular apple laptops can have similar issues - that might be a trial and error until you find a solution that works for you. Secondly, Working QE/CI in another lappy? Frickin tight, when you DO get it working again post us up some screenshots please ^^/ And finally, what do you mean it freezes at post? Bios post, or are you referring to osx-verbose freeze. If its osx-verbose freeze the solution is just to reinstall osx86. If your problem is freezing at bios post, but you can boot into bios setup options then its not a bios problem. If I had to guess, about the only thing that could cause a bios-level halt on a machine that was just working would be a bad master boot record - or in this case possibly a bad install of chameleon or some other bootloader. When I first installed the xxx version of osx86 10.5.6, I ran into some issues where I couldn't get past boot on the second install, I just changed the boot order to cd first, then put in the xxx cd, used disk-utility, reformatted my disks, and when I installed the next time I choose the other chameleon option on the disk under "additional bootloaders" (the one with dsdt stuff, note: I didnt do any dsdt stuff) and it fixxed my issues and let me see both osx disks on my system and my windows boot partition. Long story short, I'd guess that you have to change the boot order to CD first in the bios so that cd boots first, then use either a windows or osx disk to reformat the drive. Two things. 1) very likely that its just doing a self-test, mine does that and its annoying as hell but meh. Just boot it up and let it sit there for like 5 minutes and see if she goes. 2) if it doesnt go after waiting it out for several minutes, the only other thing I can think of is removing the cmos battery for your bios, startingy your laptop, letting it go through the boot process, turning off your laptop, and putting the cmos battery back in. For the record, the cmos battery is not the same as the laptop battery, cmos battery is usually the size of a watch battery and can usually be removed by taking off a panel on the bottom of the laptop (usually has like one screw, sometimes they put it in by the ram etc). The cmos battery will keep a very small charge applied to your bios so that it can perserve the settings you change when the rest of your computer's power is killed. Starting up withuot a cmos battery will reset the bios to defaults.

Ow and BTW, thanks for your help (even it might not help, very appreciated). While typing this the laptops start to make more and more noisy fan sounds..is that any good:P? makepies
I just wanted to try because I planned to test on my laptop some other OS (Vista 64, Windows 7) and wait for a 10.5.6 release, but I can download a 10.5.6 (any suggestion?) release and try again before.I have only one problem: i tried iatkos, Kaly, Leo4all and iPC 10.5.5 releases and none of them worked on my laptop. Don'y know why, but iDeneb is the only working relaese that I can install. However, if you think i must try a specific release let me know and i will try, it will take me some day to download it, but I can do some testing on my laptop before going on with my plans. Well, I know you can download iPC 10.5.6 now. I did it on my Dell Studio 1735 and it worked ... but no where near as easy and reliable as iatkos 10.5.5. I'm about to try again on iPC with a clean install using the voodoo kernel instead of vanilla that I did before, then applying lastExiles desktop drivers package, then adding the suggested kexts. I'll post back in a few days once I've had time to do that.

Edit: Still on splashscreen, alot of noise and generating hot air.. np, broken hardware is a more important problem than our dream-world video drivers, osx86 should not brick hardware as far as I know, so hopefully you get your stuff up and running. Now back to the video-card stuff, I was looking around in the 10.5.6 update they said they fixed some issues with monitors scrambling, I look inside the package and I see there was a "displays" folder, and inside that is an "overrides" folder, with what looks like specific monitor overrides like what I tried to add to the natit file. What I am curious about, is the same thing I keep asking over and over (I can't seem to get an answer) - am I doing the overrides right, I am pretty sure I am not and if display overrides have a chance in hell of fixing our problem, I'd like to know the right way to do it before I dismiss it as a possible solution. Anyhow, looking at these overrides in the update, I see this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>DisplayProductID</key> <integer>22784</integer> <key>DisplayVendorID</key> <integer>19929</integer> <key>IODisplayEDID</key> <data> AP///////wBN2QBZAQEBARwPAQOAAAB4Cg3JoFdHmCcSSEwAAAABAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEB AQEBAR2AGHEcFiBYLCUAEAkAAACejArQiiDgLRAQPpYABAMAAAAYAAAA/ABTT05ZIFRW CiAgICAgAAAA/QA7PQ8uCAAKICAgICAgAYICAxp2R4UCAwQGBwEjCQcHgwEAAGUDDAAQ AAEdAHJR0B4gbihVABAJAAAAHowKoBRR8BYAJnxDAAQDAAAAmIwK0Iog4C0QED6WABAJ AAAAGIwKoBRR8BYAJnxDABAJAAAAmAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA lw== </data> </dict> </plist> I cant help but think that maybe I should make a whole displayoverride file seperately, or wonder if IODisplayEDID is the key I need to be using instead of typing in <key>LVDS,EDID</key> <data> AP///////wBMo0NUAAAA AAASAQOQJRd4Cof1lFdP jCcnUFQAAAABAQEBAQEB AQEBAQEBAQEB2ECANHGw LUAwIDYAb+YQAAAa2ECA NHGwLUAwIDYAb+YQAAAa AAAA/gBKMjc2Q4AxNzBD VAogAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAYBCiAgAMY= </data> into the natit like I was. At least this makes me think I obtained the edid properly, they look very smilar.

Samjung
Well...No luck at all. I can't seem to find the cmos battery. I only have 3 panels at the back. 1 contains the RAM and wifi card, another the hard disk and the last one is empty, as it located near the cardbus slot. Meh this sucks bad. What to do ? kazzi
Samjung, prepare your BIOS file with a proper name on your HDD, and perform a BIOS rescue (force flash BIOS), it might help you. For my AMI BIOS on Asus laptop, I need to hold Home button while pressing power on. And the filename should be correct. I successfully rescued my BIOS but in a different situation, hope this helps you.
