hey everyone

I've been trying to follow this topic, but it has been a long time since I last installed a kext lol. I believe there was an app to do that automatically.

 

Anyway, I have a HD2600 mobility on a toshiba, so if anyone would like any help, and help me as well, on running it, just tell me :)

there's app called Kexthelper, google it. Anyway, try to install lasexile desktop version package, if it doesn't work then download Yannick's kexts, add your devid to natit and try them.

 

l3bed, could you upload your ioreg somewhere, I'd like to see it, thanks.

It looks like only toshibas can get working display, they're using some other kind of display connectors

 

i have a toshiba a200 1iz. can you tell me exactly the steps you followed? post them here or PM. i had some problems (constantly rebooting) applying the 10.5.6 update so i am downloading ipc 10.5.6 Will it work with iPC or only with kalyway?

I’m sorry if I have passively participated in the discussion, but my English is very scarce.I have tried to adjourn ideneb 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 and subsequently I have tried to install both mobility test 3650 and trial 2(RV635). But nothing works!

How can I do to use my mobility 3650?

your signature says you also have a toshiba a300 and we already got 2 of them working so it should work with you as well. i don't really understand you in one point : did you update to 10.5.6 or did you not?

 

because you should update to 10.5.6 and then try lastexiles package again or install my kexts with kexthelper.

Thanks for the tips. I've tried both... with lastexile's ones, I get a grey screen. With the Yannick's ones, I get a wierd screen, but when I change screen (with the fn key) I get a blue one and I can sometimes see the cursor/beachball. I've tried both with external monitor.

I am running this on 10.5.5, so this must be one of the problems, as far as I've read.

Anyway, I'd like to know if I'm editing the natit.kext the right way... I've just added

and scroll down a liitle bit and fine HD3600 entry, rename it to HD2600. Also change your framebuffer, just don't know to which, look at the other thread which is sticky(general information about ati or smth).

Well, maybe this is where i jump in - I have a little more time this weekend and a close match to your system. Here is what I have.

 

Dell Studio 1735 (seems to be a near-exact match for a Studio 17)

IDT Audio

ATI 3650 HD Mobility

Ethernet (? Dunno, don't use it, wireless only)

Dell 1510-N

Webcam - also works fine ....

 

So, I think the iDeneb 10.5.5 just finished downloading (I had iAtkos 5.5 and then tried iPC 10.5.6 - neither worked with this monitor kexts) so now I'll try 10.5.5.

 

Just a question though - do you have a complete list of the options you selected at install? I'll try and get my install as close to your setup as I can .... Should I anticipate any trouble with the 10.5.6 upgrade or is this just 'hit the button' straightforward? (PS - your sig says 10.5.5 - but am I right that 10.5.6 is likely needed for this card?)

 

Lastly, any chance you can consolidate an exact step by step of what you want me to test out - I've tried a bunch of things (other than hacking around in Natit with device IDs etc) and none have worked, so I wanna get the exact steps down. The thoughts on this thread are kind of scattered.

 

PS - anyone know of a way to upgrade the BIOS on a studio when you don't have any functioning OS? I have A02 on mine and they're up to A05 now.

 

Which bios do you have on yours?

installed the hd pakages, didnt reboot, installed the fujulives/yannick kexts repaired permissions and rebooted, result was a light blue screen with nothing on it. to those who got it to output on external monitor what did you do?

 

I have a hd2400 mobility, same as aidass, Asus laptop as well. Ive tried many times, but i still could get the same result as aidass(internal display with no backlight). Im wondering how do u repaired permission?

I've got osx set up on the lappy, I was able to perserve my workstation, create an osx install on one partition, and create a carbon-copy for fast-repair when stuff breaks on another identical partition - I installed XxX x86 10.5.6 Install Disc Universal Final and just chose the dsdt chameleon so I could choose boot options easily and keep my windows partitio, so I at least have an up to date distro to work with.

 

After several tests I am no better off than I was back in November, I tried a bunch of stuff with the edid for my lcd but saw no noticable differences, but even now I dont know if I am approaching that correctly or with the right expectations, there is still a lot I dont understand.

 

There was one test in particular I did tonight that showed... not neccesarily promise, but different results. With this test it went to scrambled screen like normal, but then it did something odd. It flashed blue, then flashed to show some purple in the middle of the screen (presumably something else distorted) and then went back to a scrambled screen that was 'lighter' - I moved my mouse up to the left corner of the screen and I could sort of see it in the scrambles, I clicked the corner and saw the screen change letting me know the menu dropped down, this is all through massively scrambled stuff, but you could still kind of just "tell" - hit escape and it went back to how it was etc. The computer was functional, it was 'trying' to output to the internal lcd, it just didn't know how to display it to that lcd. No clue where to go from there, if that is any sort of step in the right direction - maybe someone has had similar experiences on other different cards that they were able to resolve with some steps I could tie into this.

 

Anyhow, I'm live with osx86 again and since its not hurting my system any longer, I see no reason to remove it - I will be able to continue testing on and off as new ideas arise, but I cannot be super dedicated to this project, as I am very obsessive about these things, it overwhelms me and I cant stop hammering possible solution after possible solution trying to resolve the issues. Right now, for example, its going on 3 am, and I should have been in bed about 6 hours ago when the GF went to bed - so... yeah, cant keep that up, not healthy. Night all, keep me posted with changes you discover.

I already had this when I only load/install Natit and ATIRadeonX2000.kext, I thought I was onto something, so I tried to use an external display and pressed fn/f8 and the OSX desktop appeared but still in Vesa mode, then i pressed back fn/f8 and the desktop appeared on internal bur still Vesa... :)

 

EDIT but I'm on 3450M, so it should be a different issue

i repaired permissions using disk utility.

combo update installer to 10.5.5 (dont know where i got it , it was modded to delete appleintelcpupowermanagement ) and then when 10.5.6 came out i used the normal delta updater to 10.5.6 ... no special method used.

Ok guys, since the mobility hd3650 only appears to work on toshiba's so far, I am really curious. I have a toshiba a300 myself, so I would like to give it a try. I already have XXX 10.5.6 on a dvd. Now, which combination or driver should I try?

cd / System / Library / Extensions /

rm-r ATI *

sudo rm-r ATI *

now I just tried installing the kexts with kexthelper but black screen

 

I will try again with hd 3650 mobilty test1 and keep you informed ... my laptop has a hdmi output

If you have a blackscreen you should try to plug an external display... for the moment only Toshiba A300 can send signal to the internal, certainly because of a special LVDS connection...
