I have read many threads about users with ASRock 4CoreDual Mobos + problems for nVidia graphic cards. With thestevo patch many bugs from these Mobos are fixed (mainly due to the VIA and not Intel). However GFX are not working yet...

Has anyone one of this mobos with a nVidia working 100%?? (all resolutions, QE/CI working...)

If so, please share it and explain in detail how you install the graphic cards.

[in my case I have a 4CoreDual-SATA2 R2 and a MSI Geforce 7300GS 256MB, PCIe 4x]

Greets!!

i dont get it too.

I´ve got the 4Core-Dual SATA2 R2 with Pentium D 920 and Kalyway 10.5.2 with the Stevo 4.5 patched.. I tried EFI Strings, NVinjects in different versions, Natit, NVkush, 8800 GT EFI String and so on. anyone can Help? Please?

I have an ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 rev 2 and, from everything I've gathered (both from others and personal experience), you're outta luck with the PCI-Express graphics. I switched from AGP a few months ago and decided to give OSX a try, and while everything works perfect (sleep, shutdown, restart, etc) I cannot get QE/CI enabled with either a Gigabyte 8400GS or with an ASUS EN9400GT. Multiple people have confirmed these cards working and even went so far as to send me the exact Kexts they're using. I've also tried NVInject/NVKush/NVDarwin/Natit, EFI strings, multiple NVCAPs, generating my own NVCAP, etc. with no luck. So, as much as it sucks to admit, I'm guessing it's a matter of the 4x PCIe slot not playing nice with OSX86.

Hello,

I have an Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2 and my Asus EN8600GT it's not working in my iPC 10.5.6 but I installed an AGP card Asus 6800 and is working QE/CI with EFI string. But I still want to make my PCIe card to work. I cannot find any solution maybe it's a problem with VIA chipset

After countless hours, finally got this board fully stable and working.

This is the only way i got it working

MB= 4coredual-sata2 rev. 2

bios= 1.9

**USED PURE IDE BOTH HD AND DVDRW**

Distro: IPC 10.5.6 PPF5

Options:

Kernel = 9.5.0 Voodoo

Chipset = VIA (it is the universal 1 for many other chipsets)

Ethernet = VIA Rhine

Sound = Didn't bother with onboard sound since i used external sound.

Notes: I didn't choose any video kexts because that was the option that kept giving me trouble. I have a GeFroce FX 5200 AGP 128MB and the way i got it working is by not selecting any kexts at install, and using NVKUSHcomplete package after install and it worked great!

I tried to update to 10.5.7 and bricked it!! so i stayed at 10.5.6 and upgraded kernel to 9.6.0!

I guess you never read the thread where I had one of those MSI Geforce 7300GS 256MB cards and could not get it to work with my ASRock 4CoreDualVSTA Mobo. Card worked fine in WindozeXP with MSI's drivers, but I tried everything out there for OSx86 (NVinject, Manually adding DeviceIDs, EFI strings, etc.) and I never did get it to work! I gave up and bought a ASUS 7300GT Silent instead and it worked instantly!

Everything worked great running 10.5.6 for the past year or so until I decided to update to 10.5.8/Chameleon2RC3! Now I've lost QE/CI support! I don't understand 'cause EFI NVidia OpenGL... or NVInject 0.2.1 (tried both) show for the driver in System Profiler! It's driving me nuts all over again! I really want Chameleon/EFI booting!

Good luck.

Got it all fixed it up now, woot! Used iDeneb.Tool.v10.5.8.mpkg and selected the NVidia strings option only. I also removed CoreVidia and NVEnabler (neither did the trick) and installed "Netkas_Enabler_for_Nvidia_and_multiple_ATI_cards.pkg". I'm not sure which did the trick but I don't really care 'casue I got QE/CI support back!

Oh, and I had also lost ALC888 support (which was working 100% on 10.5.6), but I installed VoodooHDA which is a little rough still but it works. You MUST remove others HDAs (AppleHDA, ALCinject, Azalia) or you might get a KP! Also, install VoodooHDA PrefPanel and put the VoodooHDA helper cli-app in ~/Lib/Audio/ in order to retain level settings across boots.

All good 100% on my 4CoreDualVSTA-SATA2 (Rev.1, but I think it's mostly the same board as Rev.2):

Sleep/Restart/Shutdown works with VoodooKernel Alpha3 from June'09 (9.7 based from 10.5.7) as it wouldn't sleep with any of the 9.8 kernels available (I tried Vanilla, AnV, and Qoopz 9.8 v2).

Sound works with VoodooHDA (0.2.2, will try 0.2.4 from ProjectOSX later 'cause worked slightly better on my ASRock 775i945GZ)

ASUS 7300GT Silent PCIe works with iDeneb.Tool.v10.5.8.mpkg NVidia IDs & Netkas_Enabler.

My path to 10.5.8 was Kalyway 10.5.2 w/TheStevo's patch, a bunch of updates to 10.5.6 (can't remember, may have been Software Update with re-patching after), and finally 10.5.8 from Software Update, then patched as above.

I've also got an Asrock 4coredual SATA2 Rev2 and am a bit desperated about the GFX Problem (using Snow Leopard 10.6.5 - mostly vanilla). I'm Using Chameleon 2.0 RC5 with GraphicsEnabler but I'm only getting a black screen when the Desktop should appear. I think this is what the most of you experienced.

As far as I can see - DaFrigN is the only one who managed to get a PCIe GFX working on this MoBo.

@DaFrigN:

Did you tried Snow Leopard and had any success with it? Maybe you have some further hints for getting things to work.

ciao
