I can't reproduce these errors and don't know where they are coming from. Clearly, the Terminal is returning null results, but why?

I see two problems with the screenshot:

First, you don't have a GUID partition. It looks like it was formated in Windows (fdisk) or, perhaps, all that got installed in the boot sector is the bootloader. You need to run Disk Utility and reinitailize it as a GUID partition using the "Options" button.

 

The other issue I see would explain why my script has trouble recognizing the drives. There appears to be special characters in the drive name that's causing the columns not to line up in the list. What language and keyboard input are you using?

 

I have a updated script that I hope to have out in a couple days (gotta get my taxes done!!) that will allow you to just select from a list, instead of forcing you to type out the names.

Nope. Started with 10.5.6 and it booted up and audio works. However I was only showing 4 cores. i was able to move music from my server to my hackintosh and play it, but when I tried to transfer a lot of music at once(the 8 gig zip) I was getting KP. Then when trying to instal some software I was getting the KPs from the seatbelt.kext. So I set up the EFI partition with wolfs script which fixed the seatbelt problem, and gave me 8 cores, but killed my audio. It also killed my graphics, but I knew how to fix that from before.

I have fios. I could use my laptop and download the same file (I was downloading iwork 09) my laptop would get 1.1-1.2MB/sec for the download which is where the hackintosh would start but then it would slowly drop to the 100KB/sec. My solution was download it via the laptop, put it on an external and then copy it over. I did not do any ram tests could that be causing things? What kind of ramtests can I run? As for the ports using, I tried plugging the harddrive and the dvdburner into the blue sata ports this gave me the "waiting for boot device error" so I have the harddrive plugged into the white port which works. The dvd drive doesn't work if I plug it in blue or white.

That list is from the EFI partition. I have your EFI boot kexts downloaded but I assumed they were the same as in wolfienukes script. Should I whip the entire EFI extensions directory and replace with the ones in your EFI_boot_kexts folder? The audio didn't work when I added the AppleHDA and HDAenabler, but I left the other ones in there as you can see... should I have removed them?

 

EDIT: I've been working on a few different things here...I've been able to get sound by re-running wolfies script. I also have been able to find my dvd burner by plugging it into a different sata port. I was trying another harddrive too, and it seems it just doens't like me to plug things into certain sata ports.. I'm not sure about that issue, but it's at least working now.

 

the main harddrive is in the top-back white sata port

and the second harddrive was read from the bottom-front sata port

the burner is in the bottom-back sata port, and if I tried to plug it into where the second harddrive was it threw a kp.

 

I'm still getting kp's now, but I can't recreate them. They seem to be problems with the network ports if I had to put my finger on it. They usually happen when I'm doing stuff that would make use of them, playing music over the network, downloading large things (updates from adobe), ect.

 

I kept getting kp's that looked like this:

while trying to install photoshop so I removed two sticks of ram and this didn't happen anymore and I was able to finish the install. However, when downloading updates, I got another kp. I downloaded memtest86+ and I was going to run that overnight tonight to see if the memory is a problem, but I'm still thinking it's something to do with the ethernet ports. I'm still getting weird results with it, and this is the one thing holding me back. Could this be a bad motherboard? That would account for the weird issues with the sata ports and bad ethernet ports. I was thinking of installing windows on another harddrive and see if I still get these issues to figure out if it's a motherboard problem. Any other ideas?

 

edit #2: Another sign pointing to ethernet. The computer dropped ethernet while listening to some music (on a shared drive) and then wouldn't come back. I had to go into network prefs turn it off, and then back on, I lost connection to the internet and everything. So I switched cables to the other port. When I tried to bring it back I got a message saying that a new ethernet card! had been found and it was naming it (en5) and the other port which wasn't working was named (en3) on top of that (en0) and (en1) were both red and not working. So I'm sure there is some sort of ethernet problem here. Does this point to a bad kext, or a bad hardware problem, because I'm now pretty certain that this is what is causing the panics I'm getting now. I am at a point now that rebooting causes a kp unless I have the ethernet unplugged, and even then sometimes I need to run it in -v mode (which doens't make sense) and that seems to skip whatever the error is and it comes up. After plugging in the ethernet cable at that point is when it crashes.

Sounds like a good CMOS clear is in order.

Try reformatting the drive as GUID first before installing anything.

 

EX85-UD5 on vanilla kernel now a reality

 

Guys I'm so excited, it seems I have managed to install and boot my Hackintosh with the vanilla Apple i7 kernel

 

I managed to get my hands on a OS X install disk that comes with the new i7 MacPro. I made an image of it and tried the installation. Kernel on the disk is 9.6.3.

 

1. I booted from working OS X 10.5.5 installation, logged in as root

2. Installed OSX from install disk that comes with MacPro i7. I left "Printer Drivers", "Additional Fonts" and "Language Translations" out of the installation to minimize installation time and used space.

3. Removed /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

4. Copied my modified com.apple.boot.plist to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

5. Copied dsmos.kext, RealtekR1000.kext, AppleHDA.kext and HDAEnabler.kext from Digital Dreamers Kext package (GA-EX58-UD5_Kexts.zip) to /System/Library/Extensions

6. Installed Chameleon 2.0-rc431

7. Deleted /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

 

- QE/CI, sound and network all work.

- Shutdown quits OS X but motherboard power sometimes stays on (fans continue spinning).

 

I removed AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext because it causes a Kernel Panic in boot with the error message: panic (cpu 0 caller 0x76FC3460): "No HPETs available.. CPU(s) configured incorrectly/n"0/SourceCache/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement

 

I tried playing with HPET and power management options in the bios but this did not prevent AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement crashing, so I just removed the kext.

 

I'm a bit new to this OSx86 stuff so I'm not sure what kinds of modifications Chameleon makes to the system, but this is very promising

 

I just installed the system, so I have not yet much experience with it.

 

In the attached Archive.zip is system.log, com.apple.boot.plist, and a couple of pictures. You can see that System Preferences / Power Management icon has been changed.

I'm surprised they don't have the "About this Mac" info strings recognizing the board's Core i7. Looks like it'll still need to be hacked.

So, the new MacPros are running a modified version of 10.5.6, then?

I wonder if 10.5.7 will have a 9.7 kernel? If so, there are still more changes on the way.

I'm using Apple Wireless Keyboard and Wireless Mighty Mouse.

Both devices work fine. However, when I turned on or restarted my computer, "A bluetooth device is attempting to connect" diaglog pops up.

It seems like the Bluetooth keyboard couldn't be found by system after restarting the system, while my mouse works without any problem.

I need to remove the keyboard on the Bluetooth preferences, and re-add the keyboard as a new device.

This never happened on Vista with the same hardware, so Bluetooth adaptor (corega CG-BT2USB01CB) might not be the problem.

The same keyboard works without such problem on my MacBook, so the Keyboard might not be the problem.

 

Are there anybody who have the same problem like me?

 

I have a white Apple bluetooth keyboard, wireless mighty mouse and aluminum Apple bluetooth keyboard. The only time I see a situation like yours is when the devices attempt to pair with other devices. Could this be happening during your reboots or when the system is off?

Clear CMOS only when off. Damage may result if done while powered. Read the manual if you are in doubt.

alright, I'll try this tonight when I get home. If I buy a NIC card to install, will I have to get a certain kind to be recognized, or will the mac just pic up any NIC card? I feel that is the best way to find out if it's a hardware issue. I was also going to maybe install windows on another drive and try that too, but that will take longer then just throwing another cheap NIC card in and seeing if I still get KPs.

1. I didn't do any DSDT patching myself, so if Chameleon didn't somehow do it, no DSDT patch needed.

- I did all available updates from Apple, so far no problems.

- Tried sleep once, it worked

- Shutdowned a couple of times and it seemed work ok now

- I did a couple of new test installs. At first used Chameleon default settings, but then I noticed this installs some (S)ATA drivers. After this I installed Chameleon without these drivers, and now my internal sata disks are seen as removable drives, but no problems though.

 

Here is my system profiler info and a picture of Chameleon settings I used when installing it.

Can you demonstrate that you are really running the vanilla kernel? I have serious doubts!

 

 

 

What version of the OS are you running? 10.5.5? Why I ask is that the current kexts in the download are for 10.5.6 and if there's a mismatch between kernel and System.kext, you will lose USB hot-plugging.

There's the problem right there - you haven't worked on it long enough.

 

 

Are you or were you running 10.5.6 or 10.5.5?

 

 

What kind of broadband do you have? 100KB/sec is rather respectable and very server dependent.

But, a KP shouldn't be happening. Have you tried resetting the CMOS or BIOS? How about RAM tests? Are you using the JMicron (Gigabyte) ports for any drives?

 

 

Is this list what's in the script's folder or the actual EFI partition?

Have you tried the latest kexts for EFI boot from my guide? They are updated versions of wolfienuke's package.

Did your audio work when you added the AppleHDA and HDAEnabler? Did you put them in the main directory (System/Library/Extensions)?

 

 

There's one issue that comes up when trying to install from a different Mac and that's related to the DSDT patcher. When you run the post-patch (which includes the DSDT patch) from another Mac, it creates a DSDT.aml file based on THAT Mac, not the hackintosh you plan on running the install from. This creates a incompatible file that contains no relevant information for your hackintosh and can cause boot failure.

 

That file, which is located on the root directory of your system drive, needs to be deleted and replaced with a properly patched one.

I don't know if your system can run without it at all, but try deleting that file and see if you can boot. Ultimately, the goal is to be able to boot up that system and run the DSDT patcher on that system for a proper patch.

Thank you so much for the information. I would have never imagined to go after DSDT if you had not told me.

 

The way i made the mobo work was simple. I deleted the DSDT file, disabled HT and all cores except for the first one. Booted with -s -v cpus=1 (And Darwin succesfully starts. Now, on my Target volume i had copied the DSDT Patcher previously)

Then, I executed the Patching sequence from the script. (Don't you just love emacs for editing text files! )

 

Ran the DSDT and it worked like a Charm.

 

The one problem I had was the Yukon board. The KExt provided in the package does NOT work. (LegacyAppleYukon2.kext should be in Contents/Plugins not Plugins/, and this method does not work for P6T).

The correct way to get the Network running is using the IONetworkingFamily Fix. I could post my modified .kexts if you'd like!

mine picked up (originally) on the ICHx channel 0 which is the top one closer to the mainboard (bottom of the two)... but any of the light blue ones are ICHx ones.

I cleared the CMOS and still getting KP as soon as I boot with a network cable plugged in, or if I get it booted without a cable plugged in, when I plug the cable in, it KPs.

 

Let me ask a question, in BIOS in the integrated periph section, when you click on either ethernet port, what are your results? On on port, nothing happens it just says something about a cable test, and nothing happens, on the other port, it blinks for a second that the cable length is 1m and then that disappears immediately. Is this normal behavior?

I had to plug the hard drive into the top front white sata port. it wasn't found in any of the blue ones. That's how I fixed that problem

Is there any relation to the use of the modified Voodoo kernel posted in this thread and the inability to fully use Java? I can't open any web applications or Java Preferences.

 

I'm on a retail install using the DD method.

 

I've been toying with this and seeing the same results on the EFI boot as well. My app in question won't run until the system is updated, and the system won't run anything in Java after the updates. I can't run the Java Preferences app in Utilities unless I toggle it to 32bit.

 

I've read that there are requirements in the Apple release of 64bit java for Intel processors, and I'm still unsure if the results I'm seeing with crashes across the board (including the Java Preferences app) are kernel or user-system related.

 

I'm running the UD5 board / 920 chip on retail, via EFI partition, with the kexts supplied in this thread and no other modifications.

 

For some verification of an issue, can anybody else with a similar setup attempt to run the PowerFolder webstart app seen here: PowerFolder download

OK, I re installed (from my MacBook Pro) on another drive that I didn't boot into before running the script. That seem to have been the problem before, that I booted into the install and ran Software Update then ran the RUN-PATCHER script.

 

So, I managed to get into Mac OS X after a while, but the graphics was mega slow. I could move the cursor for a few seconds, then it would freeze and slowly redraw itself (for about 20 seconds) until I could move it again for a few seconds.

 

What do I do to speed up the graphics?

Forgot to say that I have the new ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics card, maybe it's not really compatible yet?

just a question about disabler.kext and appledecrypt.kext... is that because you're running the vanilla kernel or is it because it's running it on the local HDD? i.e. if we put the vanilla kernel into the EFI partition, would we still need those?

You need decrypt or dsmos kext because the 9.6.0 ANV kernel has it built in, and disabler...I am not sure it just panicked without it.

I know the new kernel is exciting so it's kind of stealing my thunder. I just wanted everyone to know that I installed a new gigabit card today, and I'm getting sustained 11.4MBs coming accross the network when I'm pulling large files and no KPs, so I think it 100% is a hardware problem. I'm going to RMA the board tomorrow and wait for a new one.

 

No one answered my question about the BIOS with the ethernet, so I'm wondering if someone could just out of curiosity I'd like to see what happens if the ethernet ports are working on your motherboard.
