I have been searching for some good answers for a while on this problem but I cant seem to find what I am looking for (maybe I did but didn't realize it). I am a bit of a noob when it come to editing extensions so please be patient with me. I installed a retail version of leopard, updated, added a kext for LAN with kext helper, and installed the NVIDIA 9xxx series driver. Everything is working great except audio.

Question is...

When I go to about this mac my processor shows up as 2.67 unknown instead of a 2.66 core 2 duo. In my searches I found people talking about something like com.apple.SMBIOS.kext and some Plist kext but I don't know which kext is responsible for updating all of that information correctly (if it is even a kext problem). I am pretty sure I have an ICH 7 and maybe I don't have something installed for that??? Please help

Thanks

Retail 10.5.6

Boot 132

Intel DG31PR

e7300 2.66 core 2 duo

4 mb 800mhz ocz fatality

Geforce 9400GT

That worked great...everything is recognized now! Thank you

How do I edit my serial number and any suggestions of something I should enter?

Also is there some way to get system profiler to recognize things correctly? still does not show up with the correct processor speed in system profiler.

what serial number do you want to edit?

And why?

System profiler is probably a no-go, but no one should care. As long as it is running at the correct speed that it should, System Profiler shouldnt be an issue unless you are trying to trick your buddies or something.

Right now my serial number is "SOMESERIALNUMBER" and it just looks kind of funny (I don't know what I would want to put there instead though?). I was wondering if it was running at optimal performance if system profiler was not reading the processor correctly but I ran a benchmark test and I am very happy with my scores.
