Here's a quick rule when updating your system if you are running some custom distro like iatkos, ideneb or kalyway... DONT! The Reason being is that you are running a pretty much hacked up version of what Apple sells. So the updates apple publishes right out of there site are mainly for their version of Leopard (or vanilla).

If your computer is running fine then why update? If your going to update just for the sake of updating well then I don't know what to say. But if there is something you need in the update then you can wait until someone puts out an update that will work with all your settings.

de_autojohn posted this http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...p;#entry1031664 and what that does is that it just tells Apple that you are running the latest update and it wont bug you or check to update your machine.

There are lots of update ways on the forum. Just use one of them for x86 macs.

EDIT -- But I don't suggest you to do that. Because even the real mac users had their system crashed down and their logic board got burned.

guhhh .... guess im a super noob. having trouble following the noob guide

So lets see if ive got this straight.

step 1: install kalyway on a separate parition or disc (for me im paritioning a 450gb disc into a 430gb partition and a 20 gb parition)

make sure to parition it all guid right?

step 2: boot to kalyway and create two folders one for retail dvd .iso and one for the efi strings

step 3: mount the retail.iso and go ahead and follow the terminal instructions in the guide

sudo –s (Enter)

cd /Volumes/MACOS/Users/xxx/Desktop/EFI/pc_efi_v80 (Enter)

./startupfiletool /dev/rdisk0s2 ./boot_v8 (Enter)

dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s2 bs=512 count=1 (Enter)

dd if=./guid/boot0 of=/dev/disk0 bs=400 count=1 (Enter)

blah blah ..... so far is this so good ? the only part that im alittle confused about is the first few steps.

thanks guys

sorry i keep asking for help just want to make sure im doing this right.....

i downloaded Asus P5W-DH by macita (lightweight version by MACinized) and burnt a disc from the .iso he gave me. I rebooted my comp and booted onto that disc. i ejected the bootloader and put in retail leopard. hit enter twice, and it started to load....

first off it gave me ebios device errors....

then it told me the computer could not start... pausing 5 seconds.... it then flashed me some more code something like cpu 9.... i saw the white screen with gray apple for a second! then my computer rebooted....

i have tried to repeat this process with -v and -x. am i using the wrong boot-132?

so can anyone know where to find a p5w dh deluxe boot-132?
