Craig4
are you talking about the 10.5.6 update directly from apple? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148244-1056-update/#findComment-1049669 Share on other sites
Acidic
is that how i am supposed to update my system. I've updated to 10.5.3 with a downloaded update from a different site. Can i just go ahead and download straight from apple? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148244-1056-update/#findComment-1050155 Share on other sites
Craig4
if you are running the vanilla leopard you can but if you are running some kind of custom like iatkos or kalyway you cannot update that way. I would recommend going to apple.com and typing 10.5.6 combo update and download and install that Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148244-1056-update/#findComment-1050411 Share on other sites
de_autojohn
you don't need to You can let your mac think he's running on 10.5.6 see here (very easy btw) http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1031664 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148244-1056-update/#findComment-1050565 Share on other sites

nastybutler
Here's a quick rule when updating your system if you are running some custom distro like iatkos, ideneb or kalyway... DONT! The Reason being is that you are running a pretty much hacked up version of what Apple sells. So the updates apple publishes right out of there site are mainly for their version of Leopard (or vanilla). If your computer is running fine then why update? If your going to update just for the sake of updating well then I don't know what to say. But if there is something you need in the update then you can wait until someone puts out an update that will work with all your settings. de_autojohn posted this http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...p;#entry1031664 and what that does is that it just tells Apple that you are running the latest update and it wont bug you or check to update your machine. Acidic
well i do actually have a reason for updating. Trying to get audio software to run, but it only runs on 10.5.5 ive got 10.5.3. i guess i can "trick" mac os into thinking that it has 10.5.6 installed...... Craig4
The apple updates only work on a vanilla install of leopard. You are running a distro so to update you have to use a totally different method. I am not too familiar with update distros but there is a ton of information out there. Tony Conte
There are lots of update ways on the forum. Just use one of them for x86 macs. EDIT -- But I don't suggest you to do that. Because even the real mac users had their system crashed down and their logic board got burned.
