benjio
Ok so I have a Core2Duo E8400 on an intel X38 chipset. Generic RAM and an nVidia 8600GTS Video (Don't think that affects the Kernel, just making sure). I'm fairly sure I can run a Vanilla kernel, but another member suggested I use voodoo kernel instead. What are the advantages/disadvantages of the different kernels? Can I still use the same audio/video patches in all kernels? Would it be better to use a retail install DVD and boot123, or something like kalyway? Thanks for your help! GhaleonX
I'm still somewhat new to the forums, and the whole OSx86 scene, but from what I gather if you have a vanilla capable system, it's best to create a boot-132 disc (or use a flash drive) and install from a retail DVD. Doing this will make the install itself 'vanilla' and should give you the ability to run apple update like any retail mac user. Since Voodoo's purpose is to mimic a vanilla kernel as closely as possible, I have no idea why it'd be a good idea to run that instead of a vanilla kernel? It's the most stable kernel because it comes strait from apple. Voodoo is great, but if you can run vanilla, voodoo is not the best choice.
