jimmydigital00
Here are the exact steps I am typing. I have a folder on the desktop called patcher that I have downloaded from this thread. I run the patcher file and select 0 for darwin when it comes up. That process runs fine. In terminal I then type cd desktop/patcher In terminal I then type nano Debug/dsdt.dsl I deleted all the lines that say alias and my file looks exacltly the way it looks on MJ's turtorial. I then press Ctrl+O then enter I then press Ctrl+X to close In terminal I then type ./DSDT\ Patcher Debug/dsdt.dsl When that is done I run cp dsdt.aml /DSDT.aml At this point I get the error because there is no .aml file created. I just re-did the exact same thing, with no problem at all, and the aml file being created. I presume you omitted the second time the patcher asks you which system to emulate... Or doesn't it ask you that? If not, what does it say? Are there any errors you get when re-patching? jimmydigital00
At what point is the .aml file being created? Yes I am sorry I did leave that part out. I select 0 again for Darwin. I put some screenshots on page one of this thread can you take a look to see if you see anything? M J
JN what patcher did you download? You have to choose DSDT Patcher1.0.1e.zip that you find at the top of the post I linked to, not the one at the bottom. And be sure you download it from the thread written by fassl, as there is another patcher published by koalala on another thread and maybe you are using a different version. I patched my bios again and what I wrote worked for me as well and it should work for any motherboard... jimmydigital00
That is the same version I am using. There has to be something else affecting it. I also have tried the auto DSDT patcher which creates error logs would you like to see them. I think it is failing at the same point. BTW this is where I got the auto patcher It is a nice little tool. http://######.com/index.php?option=...0&Itemid=48 How can I send you the file? M J
You can attach files to the post. You willl have to zip it if it doesn't accept the file extension. That log might be very useful! M J
it shows no error... are you using the p6t deluxe or the rampage extreme? i think at this point you should write in the thread of the patcher to get some help about this, i really don't know what to think of next. but if you are using the p6t deluxe and you have update your bios to v1003 i could givo you my patched file and you could try with that, at your own risk. AiBear
M J, First of all - great thanks again for compiling this tutorial I just burned your second iso (the one from today's update), and it gives me an error when booting, saying it can't find the com.apple.Boot.plist... ("System config file '/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found"). Not sure, but my guess is it looks for this file on the disc, because of a link to it? After that, I get a prompt, but I have an added problem: I can't eject my disc... Is the drive mounted, needing to unmount before being ejected? (I've had the same problem after rebooting from install dvd's: I needed a cold reboot, otherwise the drive would not unlock... Although going into Express Gate seems to unlock the drive) I'll be trying your previous iso, and keep you posted. On a sidenote: do I need to burn this to a dvd, so as the drive being ready for a Retail after that, or is a cd okay as well? High regards, AiBear edit: the other iso seems to boot without any error, and goes straight to the Darwin prompt (ehm, after hitting a key, of course). Point is: my drive is still locked! This might just get annoying... Just checked the BIOS for possible screw-up settings, but there's nothing that could or did help. Any idea and help would be welcomed with shouts of joy right now... M J
That error is quite normal, I have it most of the time booting with 132 but I don't think it is a problem. That file contains nothing more then the instructions you type at the Darwin prompt and it will be used later to automate the procedure, so nothing to worry about in this stage. And there is no need to burn it to a DVD, a CD works just fine. No idea about the locked drive... Generally you just press the eject button and switch disc. The exact procedure is: - Boot the PC and put the 132 CD in; - If it asks to press a key to boot from the CD, press a key. Otherwise wait a few seconds; - You are now at the Darwin boot prompt: press [ESC] - You will be asked to enter a two-digit hex number that represents the drive you wish to boot. Generally 80, 81 and such refer to hard disks, but you should have in square brackets a preset value (I had [ef] on the PC, on my laptop it was [9f] instead). Switch with the disks before pressing any key; - Now wait until the green light of your CD drive stops flashing and press [ENTER] to confirm that two-digit value; - Press F8 as it asks you to do so - Now you are at a second Darwin boot prompt: here enter the line as in my guide. Maybe you didn't press [ESC] at the first prompt, and the drive is still locked for that reason? ***** ooooops wait a minute! i attached the wrong iso, i forgot to delete the EFi strings about my graphic card. if you also have a 9800GTX+ go ahead, otherwise wait a couple of minutes! M J
Uploaded the correct file! Maybe it's a drive problem... you can try with the forced ejection: sticking a pin in that little hole. I presume it's still the Boot-132 iso we're talking about, but the site says it can't find the file...? Did you change the link accordingly? (if that needs to be done at all..) jimmydigital00
M J Can you tell me what the DSDT patcher does? Does it something to do with the computers BIOS? Frankenst1
"Image checksum error" -> RESOLVED I'm unable to boot from that .iso. I get a "ISOLINUX 3.63 2008-04-10 isloniux: Image checksum error, sorry... Boot failed: press a key to retry..." Solutions tried without success: - Redownload .iso-file - Reburn at low speed - BIOS-Update - Changed Master/Slave/CS-Status of IDE-Driver - Recreate ISO with Slimbuild by adding files included in initrd.img (UPDATE -> will result in Mac OS Extenden Fileformat instead of ISO 9660?) - UPDATE Open ISO-file in UltraISO (Windows) and renamed all files to lowercase has no effect Any ideas? Update: Fixed: Open Generic BOOT 132-ISO in UltraISO (Windows) and replace content with items in this iso and rename to lowercase loads the bootloader. lurscher
ok, this is what is happening for me; specs: asus p6t deluxe 1102 BIOS version sata hdd and sata optical drive pny geforce 9800gt 1Gb all bios options as you said (otherwise it hangs after framebuffer with the 'MAC framework initialized .. 16384 blocks out of 4096 etc.') (in the hdd there are three partitions, two of which are NTFS and have windows xp x64 pro) booted with rd(0,1)/mach_kernel.voodoo busratio=20 -v -f rd=disk1s3 btw, what does mean the 3 in disk1s3? After this the boot starts, these pics show the relevant data: it stood at this point nearly 20 minutes, i was about to give up... ... and just before i pressed reset, this showed up but its been there for 50 minutes now, i don't think its going anywhere from here right? hmm, what can i do now? really it would be nice to not have this splash screen but see some debug messages to know what the heck is going on.. suggestions? I also tried the -x flag....same results. BTW - @MJ thank you for fixing the .iso that seems to have solved my boot issue (now to solve the install issue) - JD In short: had the same issue yesterday. After having had a kernel panic during boot, a waiting for root device, I finally was able to boot without the problems (at first I had another disk connected, which never led to problems before, but I disconnected it just to be sure)... Or so I thought. I let the system sit for a long time, but even with the usual boot duration with the alias problem, this was getting silly. Not sure what causes this, as we're not in verbose mode anymore Do you (M J) perhaps remember whether this happened to you as well?
