New ALC1200 kext by marionez

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=161430

Installing this fixed all my sleep, wake, restart and shutdown issues. My P5Q EM is 99% MAC compatible now (except the onboard graphics, Intel 4500 but I got a cheap 9500 GT with qe/ci)

thanks again to marionez for thyis nice fix

Thank you ... That really really resolved my shut down issues ...

Now i have the problem with the one 8gb hdd that i don't know where appeared ...

Is there, i can't do nothing to it, no delete, erase or unmount ...

I will attach a picture to see what i mean ...

If only somebody could help me ...

Please ;)

hmm marionez fix didn't work for me but my P5Q-EM is 99% working ;)

for those who pm'ed about my system:

P5Q-EM
  Core2Quad Q6600
4GB RAM
  NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT 512MB

Everything is working fine with the drivers Robert lists in the first page of this thread

Audio driver needs some work for full functionality

You can't consider that audio kext a shutd/reboot fix, those kexts fix the audio driver shutd/reboot issue, you could have some other wrong kext that doesn't allow a proper shutd/reboot.

The shutdown issue is fixed for me thanks to your audio kext ...

I don't care how, ... it's working now, and i am verry happy :D

Hello dear Robert ...

Your guide as i sayd earlier, worked perfect for me...

One issue though ...

Even though i have 2 x 650 Gb hdd Samsung and 1 x external HDD 60 GB toshiba, in the disk utilities it shows another 8 gb hdd, and every time mac boots it shows me this annoing error that it can't mount the 8GB hadd ... And i have to press ignore every time ...

What to do please ?

I am attaching a picture to this post, so you will better understand what i mean ...

Please help me with this issue !

Boot using Gparted and see if that Partition is showing up... in Gparted...

Just a little heads up on Marionez' kext for the ALC1200 kext. It works perfect near as I can tell but the most dramatic improvement was in sleep function. Rather than just simply dying, it actually goes to sleep properly and my hacintosh light blinks to show it is in sleep mode, which it did not with the other 'fix'.

Hats off to Robert and Marionez for all their hard work.

Boot using Gparted and see if that Partition is showing up... in Gparted...

I booted up with gparted, and yes it shows up, but i repeat, not as a partition but as a hole other disk ...

It shows up as a 8 gb HDD ...

What to do ?

You can delete the partition in which you have restored your image now after the installation............

Look's like now it works ...

The problem was not with my hdd or with the OSx ... but in my BIOS ...

I had Drive Xpert Control option Enabled ... Now i disabled that, and all my problems are off :hysterical:

Than you ...

And i think i managed to make the MAC working 99% (there must be something there that doesnt work ... ah yes, i remembered , boot camp ... doesn't work , it say something about 64bit procesor ... i have 64 bit vista also installed ...)

Once again thank you Robert, and everybody on this forum, and also thanks to Marionez ...

The problem with shutdown was that the MAC could kill the sound processes for good, and that is why it didn't shuted down ... but now everithing is fine ...

I also have a Yamaha Audio Mixer (MW8cx) that connects with the computer by USB, and it show it perfect.

I installed Final Cut Studio 2 complete (64GB) and also Office from M$ and other programs ...

I will give links to all of you who want to have these great programs...

You will have only to PM me ! ;)

the new audio driver works!

it completely solve my shut down issue, because, when I did my install in did install every new driver one by one and noted that that was the old alc driver cause the shutdonw issue! so glad to have 100%

thanks for confirming about SSDs kome, i'm waiting for their pricing to become sane so i can kiss hd noise goodbye forever

there's also a noticeable difference between MBR vs GUID partition schemes, MacOS X is looks optimized for GUID

yup I am too lazy to built dual boot so I did single boot for every disk, formatted my desktop with GUID for MAC. SSD is best for MAC with its compact size system files, since I see there is not much simple tweak need to be done except still not a must, turn off hibernate and spot light. Worth trying.

I benefited a lot from this thread. Big thanks to Robert and the other guys like Marionez. I just now have couple of concerns, I hope someone could shed a light.

This is more of curiosity rather than a concern. Right now I'm booting using the Chameleon installed in my hard drive, is there a way for me to boot automatically to my mac without prompting me on what HD (I partitioned the main HD) should I use. I want the gray screen automatically appear and not the prompt. Or it would really just be like that?

I know this is an installation thread but I can't find it from other thread as well, anyway, I tried to use the iMovie and iDVD just now and found out both of them are not working. iDVD just load then disappears, with iMovie08 I'm getting "You cannot use this version of the application iMovie with this version of Mac OS X." Please help!

Thanks a lot and more power!

*Update

Just ran an update for iDVD and iMovie both of them works now. ;)

Try the audio fix of Marionez, it hit two birds on one stone, the audio and shutdown issue. I'm using P5Q and it worked for me.

Hi, I have a P5Q mobo with leopard retail working, but power off fails and reboot works fine. I have seen some fixes but no one work fine. Can some one help me????

Thanks.

Thanks a lot. I have tried it, but I am doing something wrong, because it works once. When I start the computer again power off fails. I have tried with two kext. Can some one help me again.

Thanks again.

I got my Leopard retail up and running, with everything working including sleep and onboard LAN restart on wake so I decided to try my luck with Leopard Server. I installed a fresh 10.5.6 Retail on a freshly formatted disk, installed Server package then updated to Leopard Server 10.5.6 on my macbook.

I connected the drive to my server, installed chameleon and required kexts then rebooted in verbose. The system won't boot and I get this error:

ALF ALERT: sockwall_cntl_updaterules ctl_enqueuedata rts err 55

Can anyone tell me what kext is causing this error?

Thanks!

huh?

(no pun intended but) you're asking for trouble...

i mean there's a time to funk around trying to get os x on cheap hardware but real servers need real hardware...

you installed 10.5.x and then on top of that 10.5.x Server...

on a laptop...

since you're talking about a (real?) macbook:

-you don't need hacked kext(s)

-you don't need chameleon

-you never run a real server on a laptop

Thank you first of all to Robert and also to the community for all of the advances in osx86!

I have a p5q-em with a e5200 cpu.

I have run into a few roadblocks and wanted to see if anyone had input.

I'm in ACHI, Firewire is enabled, and the BIOS is the one in the first post. I partitioned the HDD as a GPT and made a 100gig partition as HFS+ since it wont let me do the whole HDD.

All I want to do is install retail OSX. ( I have tried with the bootable USB, and the modified Boot132) I am able to get to the Darwin screen and if I type 80 I get the partition I created. I then pop in the retail DVD and it tells me that com.apple.boot.plist is not found.

What am I doing wrong????

Thanks in advance.

If you want to install directly from thr Mac OS X Retail DVD then you need to have Boot 132 CD ....

Right, I should have been more clear. I have the Boot132 cd in both the original and the modified versions. I still get the plist not found.

Would I need to follow Superhai's method to edit the initrd.img?

Or is it the "Patched 'boot' file supporting JMicron, Boot.plist and device-properties strings: here"

That I'm supposed to add to the USB stick or CD?

jgonzo432: what gfx card do you have?

i just finished a custom bootcd for my p5q-em (w/ GeForce 8800GT)

i could just send you the iso if you're on nvidia gfx

you should also be fine with this iso from this thread (without modifying it)

hi rocksteady, you think it will work with p5q+ati3870 ? i've tried my own made boot132 but didn't work

cheers
