stephensaw
The Leo4Allv3 will work well... The Live DVD might... I've never tried it. If you are planning to use this guide I imagine the LiveDVD will be fine if you are just planning on restoring the retail image. You won't void your warranty or physically burn or damage your board in any way. The ROMs provided by Juzzi have only been changed by a few lines of code and Vista runs fine. If you have not already changed your storage mode to AHCI, in some cases Vista may crash on bootup... Microsoft knows about this error and has already listed a solution to fix it. Some don't encounter the error at all. If you do, disable AHCI and Vista will boot properly, PM me and I'll provide the link for the fix (Alternatively you can google it yourself). Take my advice and don't worry so much... After modding the bios, follow this guide and you will come out with a great Leopard machine! You can find the drivers you need for P5Q Deluxe after install right here (Thanks Adises): http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1117682 Thanks apreichner!!! I will give it a try

I installed Leo4AllV3, follow the link you given, got both LAN working, audio working, resolution working (oh man ), but there is some times, when I mouse over to my dock, before the dock magnifying, it shows few lines of color, blue, red, green, etc, like scratches or something like that (don't know how to describe) across the bottom of the screen very fast before the dock magnifying. What is it?
kome
Nice post! Will my system work? P5Q-Pro Q9450 1+1+2+2 800 DDR2 ram IDE DVD writer HDD (new for OSX) ATI 4870 thanks
rocksteady
sweet work Robert took me about 30 min to install on a p5q-em system it's really faster if you boot off the retail image from the start (without doing the iAtkos/iDeneb install) (saves you time + extra partitions) thanks for putting all the necessary stuff in one place
kome
Thanks god to let me bump into this post. U r the man Robert. I was living so happy with my Lenovo S10 aka MAC book nano. And I found myself can live without windows. With this post, would speedup my final move to MAC world. my procedure - Flash bios - boot iPC 10.5.6 universe distro. - format two partition using GUID - install iPC - restore retail image I use 10.5.6. without replacing Osinstall.mkext - boot from USB driver (only the front USB slot work but not at the back) install retail image - install retail image - install ati driver and network, and reboot - no IDE dvd rom, unknown ECHI, no audio, cant' reboot, ram force overclocked to 1333mhz - install appleviaata, ACPI fix, haltrestart fix, reboot, get back ide, and ram clock return to 800mhz normal, then the system lost the cpu info and tell me i am running 3.8Ghz.. Very happy sitting in front of my quasi-MAC Pro and browsing insanelymac. Previously I connect my monitor from my macbook nano and the gma950 engine behaves terribly under 1920x 1200. Now with ati4870, everything is so smooth!! My installation is with 95% success, everything goes fine on my single boot GUIDed install from 10.5.6 retail image, running on Q9450,ati4870,6g ram, p5q pro system, but except the following -can't power-off/sleep, installed the haltrestartfix, restarti works, but no luck on power off, tried boot with -f, clear kext cache, repair disk permission.....still no luck... shall I use the second method by turning off ACPI 2.0 in the bios, what would I lose in term of acpi functionality? -system profile show errorness system information as others having with q6600, it shows i am running at 3.8Ghz with unknown cpu... but system info does show all 4 cores running with reasonable xbench result. not sure if currently there are a fix for this, it is just ugly. -able to get ALC1200 running with 2 channels plus micro-phone support, no luck to see all the optical, 5.1 working....any update on this? -can I make the hdd (single boot, GUID formatted hdd) with the Cham. boot loader? and able to boot by itself without the USB stick? If I will go for re-install again, I read that I can do the osx retail image directly? few more questions (thanks for your patience, for reading my post up to here ) - is it still need usb stick to boot up for installation and going forward? - can I install from directly DVD rom, install from the partition of RETAIL IMAGE and without do the iDen and IAtk first? and dont want to waste a 30G partition (allocated too much of space upfront). Or with my current install how can i get back the partition and merge with the partition whether the osx installed? Thanks for your advice in advance. -I found two version of 2002 bios mod one with 1MB vs yours 7xxkB posted by you. which one should I use? I used the 1MB version found in other post. So far no problem (except for the above though) -
kome
Hi guys, What is your solution for backing up the system? for my S10 lenovo, I use superduper! and copy everything to a usb hdd, and manually use a script to repair the bootefi and it become a clone of the system disk. planned to get a real cheap 160G harddisk to do as a clone before isntalling any software. Not sure if the same works for P5Q osx? Any idea?
rocksteady
...I was living so happy with my Lenovo S10 aka MAC book nano... hey kome Robert's efforts are focused on Asus P5x-Xx series of mobos, iirc S10 is based on an Intel mobo (Atom platform)... you're better off looking for a thread that's focused for your hardware the procedure is pretty much the same, you just have to find out your hardware's specifics you're also gonna do it faster by booting off a retail dvd and do a single "retail" installation to boot off the retail dvd, take a look @ this thread: New modified BOOT-132 allows you to boot retail DVDs, Use Mac OS X Retail DVD on hackintoshes! This is real, and free
kome
thx rocksteady.. I mean I had already tweaked my s10 OSX installation almost perfect (as far as hardware limitation). Now is the turn for my P5Q-pro based desktop.

TeDeU
Hello, Thank you for this wonderfull step by step for dumbs tutorial ... I managed to install the retail ... For the Video Driver, i made the netkas mambo jumbo with hash ... It works, now, but i wondered if there is a real driver here for GeForce 9600GT 512 MB / 256 Bit... Also my cpu is Intel e7400 at 2.8 ghz, but in "About this Mac" it shows 2,8 Ghz Unknown :-?? The most anoyng thing is that every time it starts, i get a error saying that the device couldn't be properly initiated, and when i go to disk utilities, there i have a 8gb HDD named Configuration, witch isn't really on my computer ... It's something that the retail is doing, or something like that ... I tried eject, erase , nothing ... What to do ? This is really really annoing ... Thank you once again for this super tutorial ... kome
quite weird thing I had my retail 10.5.6 directly USB installed to my P5Q-pro, q9450, 8G 800mz, ati 4870, Vertex SSD hackintosh machine , now is almost being tweaked to perfect running except I could only install AppleAzaliaAudio.kext for the onboard sound (which give me no mic input no skype!). Installing P45 audio, ALCinject and AppleHDA will cause my machine having the shutdown problem. Probably there are bugs in the current set of ADI1200 kext.... rocksteady
Which Driver did you use ? Even I don't get that information in System Profiler The one you suggested: Sound Realtek ALC 1200:(ASUS P5Q MOBO) ALC_1200_REALTEK_AUDIO.zip The way you suggested: First remove AppleHDA.kext, ALCinject.kext that are there in the extention folder and then install the above driver. This driver will also work for Motherboards with Realtek ALC 1200 Audio Chipset Realtek ALC1200 8-channel High-Definition Audio Codec + the following 4 kexts in my /Extra/Extensions
marionez
Interesting, I don't have any /Extra/Extension where did you take those 4 kexts?
marionez
Ok, I installed this attached with kexthelper as usual (not in /Extra) from here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=129058 I don't know what does it change, maybe it's only aesthetics in "About this mac", since in sound panel there's anything about Coax out, frontal input etc etc. So I think that if we want a real working audio ALC1200 driver, with all input/output we have to work on this: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=140941 Here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=127819 HDA_888_Add2_for_BOOT_132_BETA_V4.zip
rocksteady
Interesting, I don't have any /Extra/Extension where did you take those 4 kexts? from the Boot132.iso I don't know what does it change, maybe it's only aesthetics in "About this mac" is sound working ok for you? i doubt it's only aesthetics since System Profiler is really picky about hardware identification... marionez
No, About this mac is not so important, I don't really know but my sound ever worked without having (false) information in About this mac. Yes here ALC1200 works, with or without the other kexts. Do you see the audio symbol near the clock at the top?
rocksteady
Do you see the audio symbol near the clock at the top? yup can't see any spdif info yet, so i guess i'll keep sorting out kexts... btw: with Robert's pointer to the ALC kext, sound did work fine on p5q-em, and the info on System Preferences was the same, the only thing that changed with the extra kexts in /Extra/Extensions is that System Profiler also "sees" Audio device(s)
kome
I can get have the fully funcationable ALC1200 with Robert's post #1 kext . But just with that set it crash with my other hardware and make it can't shutdown properly.
TeDeU
Hello, I installed Mac OS X Retail Successfully... On problem that bug's me ... It doesn't shut down for good ... I click on shut down button, and i can hear how he shots down both my hdd, and after that the VGA Card (the image goes black), but after that, no shotdown, the power is still on ... I aplied the shutdown fix, but nothing ... What to do ... Thank you in advance for a answer that will resolve this annoyng situation ...
dabear
is there any support for STORAGE CONFIGURATION IN BIOS set to RAID? I desperately need this, as my windows partitions are on a software raid, and I want to read those disks from within OS X. Does anybody know if anyone are working on this?
