macgaga
hello guys, I discovered a strange problem. I have installed a 8500GT in my Hackintosh. Since now I used the VGA connector for my TFT and CRT monitors. Now I got a new Display so I connected through DVI. And ..... Yes and there comes no picture when I connect a DVI Monitor ! Any Idea ? Thats a big Problem for me ?! Second, There is a USB mount fix and this shutfix you all know. The Question is why does this patches work 1 time after Restart and in the following not ? It seems that there are right permission Problems, and OS X overwrites this files again ?! Could this be the solution ? Third, My 8500GT hast still only 256MB what is to do to get it to its 512MB ?! Four, P5Q Pro has a P45 Intel Chipset. Is the P43 Chipset compatible too ? AND I want to take a other edition of the P5Q Board with Realtek LAN and without Atheros .. so I dont need a extra LAN card correct ?
TheMechanic
Okay thank you very much. It was between this and a Gigabyte board, but I actually think this one is more compatible! I definitely plan on following this guide. Any tips for installing using P5Q Pro? absolutely. It's a lot easier than the guide states. You use only a portion of the kext's included i the zip. Getting it running smooth is pretty easy. The shutdown/restart/sleep problems are not problematic and it shuts down fine IF you use the appropriate BIOS settings and do NOT use any of the APIC kext's. The only kext's ive neded are as follows: AppleDecrypter.kext Disabler.kext IOAHCIFamily.kext AppleAHCI HDInject.kext HDAudio The others are NOT necessary. I have disabler and decrypter installed with OS86XTools as well as the audio. The rest boot up off PC-EFI. If you have any questions, hit me up man, ill be more than glad to help. Its really not hard, the forums sometimes dont make it easy

grieche
Go ahead and do the partition, first Install XP, then Windows 7 and then Mac OS X. After the installation you can format the Retail Image Partition I have Windows XP and Windows 7 in a separate HDD and MAC OS X Retail on a different partition... Still I can boot into all the 3 OS using the Bootable USB Flash Drive.... i have also 3 harddisks for 3 OS´s and all working stable.. but one thing i still didnt find out is: how to "edit" the Bootable USB FLASH ( OR my EFI on the first bootable harddisk ) so that OSX after a couple of seconds automaticly will be selected. Cause now i have to type/push everytime: "esc" "80" and then "enter" (80 is for the harddisk) and a big thanks for the trouble ;-)

deadpxl
HELP!! After I successfully installed MAC OS X Retail & updated to 10.5.5 & 10.5.6, I still can't fix my shutdown problem ..same with most of you guys, when I shutdown, system doesn't completely turn off. Shutdown works when i'm using iDeneb 10.5.5 I already installed all kext files from initrd.img that was included in boot 132 files, replacing the existing ones but still didn't fix the problem. My System spec: ASUS P5Q, Q6600 @2.4GHz, 4GB 800MHz RAM, ATI Radeon X1550pro, 80GB SATA HDD (MAC), 160GB SATA HDD (Win 7, XP, Ubuntu), 500GB SATA HDD (Data), D-Link Lan Card
grieche
You need to edit the syslinux.cfg file in the USB Flash Drive with noteedit or notepad The line should look like this PROMPT 0 TIMEOUT 0 DEFAULT /mboot.c32 /boot --- /initrd.img APPEND biosdev=80 [/b] i did that and the right one HD is been selected, but it doesn't choose it automaticly so i still always have to push "enter", although "TIMEOUT 0" u know y? EuphangeL
Hello guys and a really BIG thanks for all your efforts and for this great community. I have the following setup: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 ASUS P5Q PRO My question is: I have the 10.5.6 retail disk. Can I follow the same procedure and install macintosh with the 10.5.6 image? Then will I need to do any further updates? Software update really works with this? Will it install all updates without any problems for ever? Also except the LAN driver lack is there any other serious problems with this? Which fixes am i gonna need? Also, i dont know if this could help, but i've found the Atheros Partners driver downloads page. Can this be helpful for making an atheros compatible driver for mac? The address is hxxp://partner.atheros.com/Drivers.aspx Im really sorry for my awful english Greetings from Greece Logic rules
TheMechanic
Hey Euphange! In my experience, even with the BOOT-132 CD to boot from the leopard retail dvd (code ef on command line) seems to hang endlessly with the retail 10.5.6 version. I suggest you install a distrIbution (iDeneb, iATKOS, iPC x86) then restore the image. Less problematic deadpxl: I found that you can't simply import all the kext's and expect everything to work. It seems a bit more difficult to do everything on a hackint0sh For me, i only used the IOAHCIFamily.kext AppleAHCI Disabler AppleDecrypt Loading up all the other APIC kext's seems to conflict and doesn't help the cause. Boot-132 is a generic packaged bootloader to run all your stuff out of the box. Also please note, install the kext with a program like OSX 86 Tools or kext helper. It's not drag and drop, permissions need to be set in order for the OS to recognize the kext's. Security measure in unix
EuphangeL
I mean mounting 10.5.6 to the partition with iDeneb and then install 10.5.6 from the mounted partition. Doesnt this work? Mounted partition really needs to be 10.5.4?

Its really not hard, the forums sometimes dont make it easy Since I'm new to this project, can you give me more details about this? PC-EFI is a bootloader or something? And when you say you boot up off the drivers from there you mean you dont install the drivers in the system but alternatively load them up on the boot sequence? Why is this better? Thanks
TheMechanic
I mean mounting 10.5.6 to the partition with iDeneb and then install 10.5.6 from the mounted partition. Doesnt this work? Mounted partition really needs to be 10.5.4? Exactly, you don't need to install version 10.5.4. You can use 10.5.6 as well. Just install iDeneb 10.5.6, and restore the retail image to the other patition.
EuphangeL
So, here i am again I installed Retail MacOSX 10.5.6 but suddenly issues appeared. Well, first of all i installed the new HD48x drivers from 10.5.7, the acceleration seems fine but my screen flickers every 10 or 7 seconds. I dont know why.. Second, I unmounted the bootable usb flash drive and without a confirmation message I unplugged it from USB. A warning message appeared that was saying about danger blablabla. After that my USB drive is not bootable anymore. Do i have to leave the drive mounted all the time when running OSX? Trying to boot from HDD for logging in to Windows is not possible. The MBR displays an error (if you want to know the error let me know to take a pic). Now im writing through the PartedMagic liveCD and im running Linux Is there any way to fix MBR or make the USB Bootable again from here? (i mean from PartedMagic liveCD) I need your precious help mates! Million thanks
ArXBoX
Hello! I replaced the old motherboard (P5K-VM), this P5Q-EM (configuration on signature) is fabulous! Thanks to the tutorial written by RoberT_XeS, install the retail was very easy : 1) I updated the bios with the 1605 version of Juzzi 2) I downloaded the ISO image of the Galaxy-Boot 3) with MagicISO (under Windows ) I have replaced the initrd.img file using the ASUS_P5Q_BOOT_132.rar 4) I have burned, and I got the bootable CD to start the original DVD 10.5.0 Leopard - 5) I have installed on GUID partition 6) after rebooting, the LAN has been detected automatically 7) I installed the kext the sound and made the upgrade from Apple 8) I installed boot-132/Chamaleont using the Extras folder contained in initrd.img (ASUS_P5Q_BOOT_132.rar) 9) I have updated PCEfiv9/Chamaleon DSDT and DSDT patcher, fixed with ShutdownFix (the deep sleep it works perfectly! ). First try this Boot into Gparted, give the Boot Flag to the partition in which you have the Windows Installed and then try to boot...... If that does not work then you can use this software Paragon Partition Manager Recovery CD Boot using the recovery CD and then Fix your MBR.... EuphangeL
Hello again I finally set-uped my system with dualbooting WinXP - MacOSX Leopard.6 and everything is working fine! All i need now is: An updated usb boot drive (with latest chameleon or whatever stuff it uses, i think it would be better if we'll be up-to-date) (SOLVED it was my mistake and a fix for shutdown - restart. It was working till i installed the Radeon HD48xx drivers. Till then when i shutdown - restart the system remains on power and only my monitor switches off. Cant think about what can have changed with the HD48xx driver.. SOLVED it was my mistake) Anyway a big thanks to anyone involved in this project and especially Robert_XeS for making this wonderful guide

Perkabalo
First I have to thank you for this tutorial, obviously took some time to put toghether. Successfully Installed on P5Q-E. The only problem that I had was after the retail install was complete. After installing the 10.5.5 update I couldn't open any programs or anything so the only thing i could do was to restart. But i frooze somewhere, then I tried to boot with -x -F and then i could login and install all the drivers. No problem to update to 10.5.6 after that! Thanks again! apreichner
I'm running the P5Q Pro board. I have a few problems. I successfully installed iDeneb and had it running perfectly. I then followed word for word the steps to restore the image. I had three partitions on a hard drive. One for Windows Vista, one for the retail image, and one for the macintosh partition. It wouldn't give me the option to restore the image to the retail image partition, IDK why. It just wouldn't show me a little green plus sign. The partition size was 30gb (so i think it was big enough). I tried formatting it Fat32 and HFS+. Neither worked. So no biggie, I had an external drive laying around. I went ahead and restored the image to that drive. Used the tinker tool to replace the install file as directed. I rebooted and booted the install. Formatted the drive as listed and attempted to install. At about 6 minutes in the install gave me an error saying it can't verify the Essentials folder. Is it looking like a bad retail image? Or maybe I should've did something else when copying the Install pkg? IDK... Any ideas guys? EDIT Okay I managed to get it to restore the desired partition just by renaming it to Leopard and reformatting. I replace the file. I successfully boot the installer using Boot132. Install still stops with the error: "The install could not validate the contents of the 'Essentials'."
