I just installed MacOS X but the Leopard wizard (the one after the installation) froze and restart the wizard when I click "Continue" on the "Do you own a Mac?" screen.

I've read that you need to enable Firewire in the BIOS but my mobo doesn't have any FireWire support.

What do I need to do?

Now to some minor Problems, maybe you can help:

- My graphic card is a 8500GT 512MB ... but OS X System Profiler recoginzes it as 256MB 8500GT any solution ?

- When System wents into Sleep It doesnt wake up.

- When I Shut down ... System doesnt go off ... OS X shuts down. Screen is black ... but system runs

- When I boot, I get to the prompt where I can type in 2 Hexadecimal signs. Can I jump into OS X directly without that ?

Further as you know I use a P5Q Pro ... Is tehre a better Board ? I want to build 2 PCs with OS X for my Friends. P5Q Pros Gigabit LAN doesnt work so I want a board with native OS X without putting extra LAN cards in ... The want the best "Apple Hardware" like PC.

So you have Suggestions for a board ? and other Devices ?

Thanks and Thanks for all the help till here.

I have similar problems. I guess that you tried haltrestart kext, which somehow kick a bit restart process but not in all occasions. You can also copy all kexts from boot intrd.img to extensions folder but i think with similar result. I would say that restart is working in more than 90% and shutdown very rare (probably also because I don't want to try anymore).

There are some assumptions that graphic drivers or lack of them are responsible for this behavior, so I'm trying to use efi string and ATI_MEGALODON kext but with no success for now. If anybody else is successful in this, maybe he can report his halt/restart behavior.

When I click "Sysem profile > Hardware, it shows " There was an error while gathering this information".

Would you help me to solve it ?

I resolved this problem with installing some kexts from boot initrd.img to extension folders. Try first with AppleACPIPlatform.kext and AppleSMBIOS.kext.

Of course you should also implement AHCI fix.

dear robert, million thx for the tips......

finally, i can run into 10.5.5

your suggestion is good enough except during the 2nd boot up time must type -f (to make sure all kext are properly installed) if you type -v, everything freeze hell over

damn, i try maybe 30+ times of fresh install (cost me a bloody week's time to do so)

the proper gfx strings patched into plist, another dream machine existed.... :)

anyway, THE OWNER of the new P5Q want to play i-phone (jailbreak) i heard the after U update to 10.5.6 all of the hacking tools failed is it ture? or i should stick to 10.5.5?

any advise????

this is an awesome guide. I' read through all 9 pages and i'm almost at the point where I want to buy a P5Q mb.

only thing holding me back is that the LAN doesn't work right now.

do you think it's possible for this to ever work on this mb?

Hi again ROBERT ! And thanks for all !

Try this

you said .... But this only solves my Problem with the GPU or ?

What about the other problems ?! You have an idea ?

Mine is 8500 GT too and it works perfectly, I removed all the kexts related to graphics and installed NVKUSH and it worked..

You can also try this....Try installed IDeneb 10.5.6 and select NVInject. If you get the graphics working then copy the kexts from the extension folder and install it on your Retail Installation, I am not sure if this will work, this is just an idea.......

Robert, first off I'd like to congratulate your work. It's incredible. Ive been lurking for a couple of weeks, and am going to build a hackint0sh for my sister. She edits video and needs a top of the line PC (MAC). First off, is this Intel mobo good with this processor? Will i be able to use all 4 cores?

Are there compability problems with Final Cut, iLife, ect? I read in one of your posts, the system is extremely stable and able to receive updates. Also, would the GEForce 9800 card run well? Or should I step down the card you have on your system? I plan to use 3 hard drives for a RAID 0 striped array.

Mobo: Asus PQ5-E LGA 775 Intel P45 ICH10R

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83Ghz 12Mb L2 Cache

HD's: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 750Gb SATA 3.0Gbps X 3

Memory: G.SKILL 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel

Video Card: SAPPHIRE 100225L Radeon HD 3870 512MB 256-bit GDDR4 PCI Express 2.0 x16

PSU: OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI 600W ATX12V

DVD Drives: SAMSUNG 22X DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S223F X 2

Case: LIAN LI PC-7B plus II Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower

Thanks!

I'm playing a bit with FCP, no serious work and it seems ok. I didn't capture any material. But I would certainly not dare to take any serious long form work - even for my own pleasure.

Regarding hardware: Color likes ATI cards, I have HD3870, which is currently the best card on real mac.

Thanks for the suggestion Umbris, i changed it to a Sapphire 3870 512mb DDR4 for $94.00 @ Newegg, also changed the DDR1200 to 1066 for better price/size. Any other suggestions? I want to run a RAID array, does it work fine with the PQ5-E? Ive also been reading integrated LAN doesn't work.

I haven't been ths excited in a while :(

I would very much like to use only EFI strings for graphic card, but it seems I can’t work it out. There is also possibility (small) that this depends on sub-type of card or in the other words, manufacturer. Check in the graphic drivers section, but as I saw, the most successful is MSI HD 3870.

I have cheap PCI NIC card with Realtek 8139 chip which works out of the box.

The last install I made with boot cd and Leo retail dvd version 10.5.6, so I didn't need update. I only had to use -x at install because of graphic drivers. Everything else is more or less the same.

Robert,

followed your instructions and got 10.5.4 retail on my P5Q Pro, no problems at all. Thanks a lot!!.

However, I have updated with the combo update to 10.5.6 and although the audio is recognized I don't get any sound from movies or the computer in general, although I do get sound from Logic Pro 8, ie the metronome plays.

Also, when the computer tries to sleep it automatically awakens itself, and when I shut down I get a message saying that I have to hard shut it down. If anybody has a fix it would be greatly appreciated.

First: thanks a lot for your work, i suceesfully installed Mac OSK on my System. I folowed your "tutorial" except that i directlt installed 10.5.6 Retail

My System:

Asus P5Q

Intel Q9550

8GB G-Skill DDR2 800

Nvidia 9800GT 1GB (Asus)

2x Seagate Barracuda 500GB 32MB Cache

1x WD Green Caviar 500GB

Creative Soundblaster XFi Titanium PCIe

The Soundblaster isn't working in OSX as all you know there are no Drivers availlable. Of Course, the Onboard Realtek Sound is working.

Got the 9800GT working with the NVkush Drivers *happy*:

The last remaining thing is network, have to run for a compatible network card as the onboard-LAN isn't working. But should be no problem :-).

Again, thanks a lot!

Best regards

Update:

Found an "old" PCI Network card with Realtek RTL8139C Chipset. Just plugged in and startet OSX and it works :-)
