kzap86
So, I'm about to patch my BIOS but I don't know which boxes to check on the Network, Graphics, and Audio tabs. I'm uploading a backup of my BIOS and the DSDT.aml that was generated out with default settings. Well, not exaclty default, but with the Time Machine fix checked and the HDEF audio checked plus the Local0 and MUTE fix checked because they sound good. Also, Generate dsdt.aml and Force DSDT Compilation because of course I'm getting errors. I'm in now what mode or just needing a fix of my DSDT.aml file please!!!! Also I have ATI RADEON HD 3000 with 700mb or is it 734??? shared because I have 4gb ram on my 32-bit system. 154 errors 8 warnings and 7 optimizations and I have an EVGA e-GeForce 8800GS waiting to be installed after because I don't have DVI-vga dongle yet. thanks in advance O and I'm trying to install from a clean DVD retail vanilla snow leopard DVD if possible? here is the link i'm following here but I realize that I don't even have a Leopard so how do I go about doing so? If I can't do it from vanilla snow leopard, how do I do it from one of the osx86 derivatives i.e. Hazard's latest one although I'm looking to attain some others if much easier for my case also, toshiba odd sd-r5272 dvd-rw = slave ide maxtor 6l200p0 master hdd pata/ide want to install on this hard drive if at all possible. I apologize for this long one bios_backup.rar dsdt.rar
Beerkex'd
Even your untouched DSDT, freshly extracted from the BIOS dump, does not compile. You cannot use Koalala's patcher on your DSDT, it only makes it worse than it is. Maybe someone who is familar with AMD hardware could patch it by hand for you. I don't know what you would want to patch on an AMD based Hackintosh though. At the most, I guess you could patch graphics and perhaps LAN, firewire and sound. All the motherboard stuff that you would normally patch is Intel ICH-southbridge specific (SATA, USB, LPC). For example, it would be pointless to patch HPET since you cannot use AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext anyway: (Quote Mercurysquad, Voodoo Kernel developer) "The issue is with the new clock initialization routine. David Elliot (otherwise known as 'dfe') has a nice fix to disable hpet on unsupported systems, so we decided to remove the hpet emulation entirely since its only consumer - the apple supplied speedstep driver - is replaced by our speedstep kext and we replaced the clock initialization routine to read the bus ratio directly from the processor. This is implemented by all AMDs and most intel processors from pentium M and pentium 4 model 3 and above but the old willamette and northwood core p4's don't have this register. We had the choice to put a clock timing routine in the kernel to calculate the cpu frequency / bus ratio without which xnu will panic, but we learnt that the chameleon bootloader already does this so instead of reinventing the wheel we simply asked the chameleon devs to also export the cpu frequency in addition to the fsb frequency in the fake EFI tree." http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=127896
yehia2amer
Post your dsdt.dsl file here. People can't help you with limited info. kizwan i found that my problem is in Illegal If statement which is not in a method, nor at module level so i commented out the code in the "dsdt Fixed.dsl" file attached (look for text "!!!") , Now there is no compiling errors but the system gives me a kernel panic i attached the untouched DSDT and the fixed one also the kernel panic picture , so please take a look and thanx in advance :censored2: /* !!! I'll look in your dsdt.dsl file later. kizwan @ kizwan i tried to boot with "arch=i386" but it also KP (attached) , but the KP is different by the way,in the previous post "Post #812" ,i used "cpus=1" because without using dsdt file it is the only way to boot the system but when i used the fixed dsdt.aml and "cpus=1" it gives me the KP on "Post #812"
kzap86
I was under the impression here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=203791 that I was required to patch my DSDT.aml in order to install from a retail DVD of snow leopard which is comparatively better than from osx86 derivative distros out there. Anyways, I'm trying all that I can right now.

I have Dell Studio 1557 with same chipset & processor but I haven't tried to install snow leo on my dell yet. Have you tried Chameleon 2 RC4 or PC EFI v10.6? There has been reports by user with Intel Core i7 that PC EFI v10.6 is working for them except it maybe detected as Xeon processor. I use my Acer Aspire 9420 for my test & "try & error" but, unfortunately "unavailable" for now. I sent it to repair shop today (cannot turn ON). Until it get repaired, I can't do anything for you. For the time being, try commented out the whole part with illegal if-else statement & try to see if that still caused KP. Updating chameleon to most recent release is a good idea too. One more thing, make sure you're not using patched kext. kizwan

I already compile it for you. http://www.mediafire.com/?jldmrlnj0ym However, I'm not confident it will fix the KP. I have to use iasl for ACPI v4 to compile your dsdt (to be precise I use DSDTSE to compile it). Anyway, let me know if it is working or not. EDIT: Patched kext is not an original kext, e.g. HDAEnabler.kext, Disabler.kext, etc. When I said "don't use any patched kext", what I meant was don't use the patched version of IOPCIFamily.kext. OpenHaltRestart.kext, fakesmc.kext, PS2 kext or any other legacy kext are OK. Remove "cpupowermanagement.kext" (assuming you're referring to patch/foreign kext) when you trying the above dsdt.aml. kizwan
