milanca
Merry X-mas to all of you guys! I had big mouse lags with iT/QT. I downgraded both and also rolled back to 10.5.5 drivers first. But i was a bit suspicious about this, couldn't accept the fact that something was broken until i try several solutions. Updated iT and QT to the latest versions again. Created new efi string with efistudio 1.0 and i also reinstalled 10.5.6 update. No lag at all and no video problems. QT is 7.5.5 (249.24) I am running QuickTime, iTunes and VLC movie at the same time.

thepiecesfit
yeah i can confirm this version of quicktime + 8800gt 512 and EFI strings on 10.5.6 Does NOT solve the problem
ben10
This workaround also fails to change anything for me, also on EFI String'd 8800GT, I tried other display drivers and all have this issue. EDIT: damn i feel stupid. I installed the quicktime update with Pacifist and my mouse is finally normal while listening to itunes and/or watching quicktime. Thanks cyclone!! thepiecesfit
ironically enough the mouse does not lag while quicktime is open or playing h264 movie trailers. It only lags with iTunes open. So i imagine itunes is the culprit or some codec it uses

roninx
Might i suggest that someone modifies the code for the 249.24 built into OS X? then we wouldn't need a workaround. btw. okay it worked for me , here is what i did. 1) install latest quicktime from apple site , reboot 2) download quicktime_quicktime_7.5.5_version_leopard_francais_19979.dmg from page 1 3) download pacifist 4) drag quicktime_quicktime_7.5.5_version_leopard_francais_19979.dmg onto pacifist , follow these instructions http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts..._quicktime.html , then reboot quicktime ver states 7.5.5 (249.24) but no lag while itunes or quicktime is open yay this worked. Leoopardoo
Is it finally confirmed that the same problem occures also on genuine Mac's (Mac Pro with 8800GT) ? So far I've read through many forums with 10.5.6. topic but no similar issues are discussed among Mac Pro users...
360freak
Is this lag supposed to ONLY be in iTunes/Quicktime, or in general in the OS? Because I'm getting lag all around, even when iTunes/Quicktime aren't open.
macfinity
Mouse lag for me and 360freak you are right I had the same experience as you described (Solved! Followed http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts..._quicktime.html ) PNY 8400 GS 254MB PCIe, iAtkos 10.5.6 QT 7.5.5 (249.24) EP35-DS3L Rev 1.0 Q6600 2GB DDR2 6400 can't find the file, error 404 on the page, will update after success SOLVED! QT still shows QT 7.5.5 (249.24) but without mouse lag !
schismatic
From what I've seen, people using Steermouse don't have the mouse lag issue when equipped with an 8800/8600 Nvidia. That is to say they still have video lag, but don't notice it because it's like a 2ms interrupt every 4 seconds. Workarounds: -Install this old quicktime or -Install 10.5.5 graphic drivers ---------- Since I use Logitech Control Center for my MX Revolution, I get the lag, sadly. Hopefully Apple will update Quicktime again and fix this problem. I'd like to know if any Mac Pro users with 8800 cards are experiencing this problem. -Stell how do i go about installing 10.5.5 graphic drivers? nvflash
Could this be a trouble with PowerMizer? It Only should work on Mobile GeForce 8/9, but we don't know how it will affect Desktop cards in Hacks. If you have CHUD installed, you can check your GPU and VRAM Clocks and see if they are changing "On the Fly". First /Developer/Applications/Performance Tools/CHUD/Hardware Tools/Reggie SE.app Choose the PCI Tab>>Choose Your Video Card From the Pop Down Menu>>Under Config Space Location 0x10 tick 32bit>> Edit Button. You should see a 32bit Hex like 0xCE000000(This is the Base Address of your Card) 0xCE is for my 8400m. So let's assume you get 0xFA000000. Next Click the PhysMem Tab>>Under Range>Address: Enter 0xFA004000 >>Length: 0x100 >>Tick 32bit. You Should see a List of 32bit Addresses on the left and the Hex value for each on the right. The GPU PLL's(Clocks) are 0x4028 and 0x402c ( For GeForce8 Cards, not sure on GF9xxx ) SO in this Example: 0xFA004028 == 0x8c030406 0xFA00402c == 0x00002505 The above Values are an Example, your Values will differ. At any rate, this will be the Speed of your GPU. The VRAM PLL's(Clocks) are 0x4008/0x400c, 0x4010/0x4014 and 0x4018/0x401c. 0xFA004008 == 0xSome 32 bit Hex Value 0xFA00400c == AND so on and so on............ Ok we don't need to convert these values, we only need to see if they are CHANGING. Open some 3D App. that can run while you hit the Refresh Button in Reggie, if the Values for any of 0x4008/0x400c, 0x4010/0x4014 and 0x4018/0x401c or 0x4028 and 0x402c Change, Your Cards Clocks are stepping(PowerMizer) Also, PowerMizer Slews the Voltage, but I don't know the Address to Look up for that. I'd take a Look at these while getting this Mouse Lag Bug. BTW No Lag here 8400m GS, but that's G86 anyway.

stellarola
So this seems to be happening only to the G92 chipset, from what I've seen. I have a 8600GTS (G80) that has zero lag in itunes/quicktime. My 8800GT (G92) is a different story though, lags unless this version of quicktime is used .13. I'm pretty sure the 8800GT in Mac Pros are G80 based, am I right? Later, -Stell
thorazine74
I have an 8600GTS and I get mouse lag too. It didnt lag when I had iAtkos 10.5.5. updated to 10.5.6 installed for some reason (with same apple updates applied).
cyclonefr
stellarolla, 8800 GT is only based on G92. G84 (aka 8600 GT/S) is affected too, I have the same bug on my other hackint0sh. G80 isn't affected though.
